There's nothing that I don't like like seeing a honda loosing but when its loosing to another JDM its bring a smile on face and make me appreciate the engineering of those guys for all of these years
It really is but I think for a sportier drive Honda all the way. For Max reliability then I’d go Toyota. But honestly I think you would enjoy the Honda way more especially if your looking at the type R

And as for reliability, the engine in the Honda is the third generation of 2.0T engine - it's as reliable as anything, and it also isn't as highly strung as the GR Corolla 3-cylinder. Yep Awd and makes 300 hp to boot out of a 3 cylinder 1.6t liters is very difficult and maintain reliability all at the same time is impressive. 315 hp out of a 2.0t 4 cylinder isn’t bad but not impressive as the GR Corolla is. I was a little surprised that the Corolla held its own against the Civic Type-R. But if I told you that my 1.6t 4 cylinder can keep up side by side against a Polestar Electric Vehicle you would think that I was joking but happy to claim that I’m not. 1.6T is all stock except for a drop in K/N filter, Motul engine oil, Special Racing plugs, EM3 lower engine mount to eliminate wheel hopping. Michelin Pilot Comps. Lower body stuffing bars front to back. Running 60/40 E85 and 91 fuel. No other mods. Yes has a stock 7 spd DCT with dual sport mode only with manual settings. Auto settings in sport is standard sport mode only. If you look up the Polestar3 3:59 specs you probably would be in disbelief the least expensive Polestar3 does 0-60 in 4.9 sec. and makes 489hp and 620 ft lbs from its electric motors and I learned of these specs way after I raced it from a dig! My car has no electronic mods to its ECU because they’re aren’t any tuners finding it difficult to fool because it’s like a rudimentary A.I and I have run up to 60% e85 with no issues in performance because the ECU is Octane learning. Only thing it effects is mpg. But the performance is a benefit. Obviously.
Please learn to add the exit speeds along with the times. Also, if a 100-200 was reached, that would be a welcome addition too. Stats matter for car nerds.

I am not sure these are competitors. Here in the US these cars are $6,000 apart without markups. The GR Corolla in core form, and performance pack I can buy for just under $39,000. I have yet to see a Type R without a markup above it's $45,000 msrp. Usually if you want AWD, you wouldn't consider FWD. I test drove a core edition of the GR, and it was so much fun! I wouldn't consider the Type R because of it's FWD. My 2019 Fiesta ST was the most fun car I ever drove until I drove the GR.

Great video, albeit , 14.9 seconds seems rather off the pace for a 220 odd kw 4WD even at our altitude. The RunX RSi’s used to hit 15 seconds dead and quicker 20 years ago along with the “stock” Corolla 20 valves and Honda Vtecs 😀. After a quick google search you see overseas the GR Corolla gets between 13.3 and 13.7 seconds and the Type R 13.9. Maybe just the surface you guys ran on.

That 1.5L 3 pot is doing well to stay with the 2L 4 pot , if the corolla was fwd it would have had the win on the roll race to . Less weight and less drive train loss .

I’m surprised at these QM times. 14.8s?? I know these aren’t drag race cars, but even the AWD Toyota is not that quick. But man would these be fun to daily drive! A BMW X3 30d would see these off from the lights with an official 13.9s QM lol.

Gosh the interior of the GR is the same dreary trim as the 2019 Corolla Ascent that goes for around $20,000 Australian dollars.
