I totally understand where you are coming from though, I used to say the same exact thing myself until I was behind the wheel of several sports cars and realized that your everyday commute can be so much more enjoyable with these sports cars and or sportier sedans. You either are into cars and you’ll underarms or you’ll never understand the purpose at all but just understand that there is a lot of people who actually care about driving something that would be more fun.

@@speaktruth247 Some of us with ADHD issues absolutely cannot drive a boring car. It is like torture. So Honda fills some voids Toyota leaves open, and likewise Toyota has its appeal because they are so focused on building reliable comfortable civilized transportation.
I ran into my Corolla because I needed a car in the worst way at the time and have since come to highly appreciate its reliability. At the same time, I added a couple of suspension mods to tighten up handling/steering and a stereo head unit to get some good quality sound while driving.
Now it's very satisfying for what it is and I plan to keep it until it wouldn't be practical to, which hopefully is a LONG, LONG way off.
On top of that though, I'm one of those "car guys". I have next level enthusiasm, and for that I pay the extra insurance to keep an old 5 speed Mustang on standby for when I absolutely have to have that next level fun to keep my sanity. Sometimes just shifting those gears, seeing the hood scoop in front of me and hearing the engine is enough.

No regrets getting the Honda Civic Sport a month ago or so with the 2.0 L engine. Ride quality and MPG is spot on and love being able to fit in even tight parking spaces in town too. Super smooth for the most part and surprisingly all my stuff fits perfectly in the trunk it has. Took that thing all the way to Greenville SC and back without having to fill up gas in between. Toyota I like as well from my experience, but I think Honda outdid themselves with this for sure. I also really like that I can drive like a grandma in the thing but then drive up to 90 mph in not too much time at all.

The refresh of the toyota is very nice and it makes choosing between these 2 cars a little challenging especially if we’re talking about them fully loaded. However i think ill choose the civic over the corolla. I like black on black combos and this civic does it well. And i also find the civic to be be more subdued in its front and rear areas and i like the cleaner look of the civic. Even though the headlamps on the corolla look more upscale than the civic. Not a deal breaker. I think the interior however, honda has the toyota beat. Yea the corolla got some tech upgrades with the new toyota interface, i find the civics sleeker dash layout to be more neat. Minus the screen looking like an after though. Though i do appreciate that Honda has given the civic at this price point a half and half set up gauge cluster vs the mainly analogue kind thats on the corolla. It reminds me of my moms 2017 highlander and even her gauge cluster looks more enticing.

@@mr.unknown2595 I’ll answer this- I get 40 mpg on the interstate and around 34 in town. I’ve yet to take it on any long road trips but for a couple hours it’s pretty comfortable compared to my 2020 Camry I traded. It’s handled beautifully on the sharp turns here in the southern Appalachia Mountains, and overall drives really smooth. My only complaint is the road noise but it’s not a huge deal unless you like dead silence and aren’t listening to music or whatever. Pretty roomy too and while it obviously doesn’t have the room of my Camry, it comfortably fits my 5’9 frame and that of my teenage son just fine. Hope that helps!

Just bought my civic this past Friday after having had a Camry since 2020. I’ve always owned Toyotas and still have an 07 4Runner in my driveway that I refuse to sell, Toyotas are just great vehicles that will run forever. That said, I kept seeing these new civics on the road and loved the look of them and frankly didn’t want to pay nearly 40K for an Accord sport. 😏 Is it a luxury vehicle? No. But it’s really, really nice and pretty damn roomy considering it’s a “compact” sedan. The seats are comfortable, drives great, technology is great and it’s a solid car for a single mom with a teenager who will get the vehicle in a few years, a kid just getting their license, someone looking to modify, or someone who wants a gas saver for their commute. Honda builds vehicles that have great resell and reliability like Toyota so you can’t go wrong, can’t go wrong with either!

I bought Toyota brand new and drove 188,000 miles in it never having any problems with it.
For my next car I bought Honda, and at about 45,000 miles it started losing engine oil. I talked to Honda directly, and they offered nothing, so I always had a quarter or two of engine oil in my trunk. Many years later, Honda announced a recall for that engine oil problem (!), but only for the cars under 120,000. At that time I had 125,000 on my car. All my attempts to point to them that my problem started at 45,000 and I reported it then did not get me anywhere. I quit on that car at 205,000 miles.

Honda Civic is a great vehicle. But honestly the Toyota Corolla wins for what it is. It’s a bare bones commuter car built to save you money. The interior is good enough. 8 inch display is nice. You get the jbl sounds system for $600 more… but the biggest thing is the 50mpg combined fuel economy with the hybrid and 16 inch wheels. Also, the ability for AWD is also going to be a big point for many people which also hardly effects the fuel economy. The interior is basic yet it’s everything you need when buying this type of car tbh. And it’s solid. Not cheap feeling at all. And the new 3.0 safety system is fantastic for a car in this class.
I ended up getting the Toyota Corolla hybrid XLE (2023) with the jbl sound system and I am extremely happy with my choice. Great daily driver. I went to Starbucks today and managed to do the little trip on an average of 84mpg according to the gauge. I’m loving my choice!!! And I didn’t have to break $30k.

both great rides....but the corolla will last longer for 3 reasons.
    1. honda has a turbo. you are forcing more exahaust back through the intake. over time that will cause carbon buildup and fouling.
    2. honda has direct injection with no auxillary port injection like the toyota. this will also cause carbon buildup and fouling over time.
    3. both have cvt transmissions, which have come a long way but longevity has historically been poor in general, but the toyota uses a traditional and patented 1st gear cvt which removes the majority of the torque stress felt by the cvt belt over its lifetime by decreasing the size and ratio range the cvt belt must operate in within its lifetime.
these things almost a guarantee toyota will remain the longevity king over time and if the owner wants to run these vehicles "until the wheels fall off" there should be no question of the winning vehicle for that particular consumer.

That's often has been a weakeness of Honda's over the years - noisy cabins. If they could just pay a little more attention to sound insulation in their lower tier models no one could touch them. I wouldn't buy either for sporty driving dynamics. There are better cars for that. I would get one for a commuter vehicle and the Corolla wins that in my opinion.

It’s not a luxury car so it’s not going to sound like you are in a vacuum sealed chamber, you want that, grab a Lexus. It is however very quiet on the inside, could hardly hear anything from the outside world with the windows up and there was hardly any road noise. Is it louder in the cabin than a notoriously quiet vehicle like the corolla, yes. Is it loud on the inside, absolutely not.

You just helped me pick a car. I was looking for a manual '05 VW GLS TDI, but they are all bought. My first car was a manual '05 corolla s, but I sold it to a coworker. I didn't enjoy driving it with so much stop-and-go traffic in my area. I've been stuck between Toyota and Honda because my husband has an '05 TL, and I wanted to keep our family in the "Acura Gang" (our uncle and cousin have matching Acuras haha). But this video helped me decide between two cars that are better for all-over driving (I don't want to drive an Acura too much-- I drive a lot).
Anyway, the cupholders got me. I HATE when cups are in my way while I'm trying to shift. HAHA, that sold me for sure. Along with the Honda's sound system, a more fun drivng experience, more cargo space, and the better backup camera. As an Amazon driver, it's helped me see the differences in backup cameras in regular vehicles. They really suck in comparison to our big vans lol. I really love the wheel color choice on the toyota, their seats looks extremely comfy and with that color scheme too, and I love the charging ports for the passengers. But I'll sacrifice the color, ports, and rear cupholders for the honda. Those aren't deal-breakers for me. The front cupholder was the deal-breaker I saw in the first 4 minutes of the video. Then I went on to watch the rest of it lol. Thanks for being so thorough and taking the time to do this.

I have driven and owned both, and it's fair to say that they are great, reliable cars, no question, hands down.. but despite their awesome reputation, there is a line that separates them from each other. I am not comparing hybrids to gas, which is stupid.. because you can't compare oranges to apples.. it's a whole different segment.. I am basing my opinion on the base gas models... Corollas are very simple and easy to operate, and driving is smooth and reliable.. if you need a car that will get you to point A to point B, and will not worry about too much on maintenance and repairs.. you go for the Corolla. It's a no brainer for first car choice, or if you are gonna need a car to drive going to school or work every day. It has a new design that looks cool and will surely be trendy for years to come.
On the other hand, Hondas is all about handling and performance. Any gear head out there will definitely understand where I am coming from. That's why Civics are the most modified cars for racing.. just a fact. The new Honda interior is very classy and sleek. The exterior is very nice as well. Speed, 0 to 60, Hondas out runs corolla... again guys, these are all based on the base model.. I know some of you will start commenting that the turbo charged Corolla is faster than the Honda... we are not comparing turbos, hybrids and naturally aspirated engines against each other... just base gas models.
On turns, Honda conquers corner like a dream. Civics goes with you when you drive, it becomes you, if you love driving and the performance, then I would say go for a Honda.
