Playing To Win is John Farnham’s signature Little River Band song .
The song was originally released by Australian supergroup the Little River Band in 1984 . John was only the group’s second lead singer from 1982 though to 1986 .
Sadly Playing To Win wasn’t a hit at that time of release . But Australian sporting programs used the song for their promotions and at stadium games . So Playing To Win has become a sporting anthem within Australia.
John wrote Playing To Win about he’s frustration with some of members of the Little River Band around 1983 picking on bully him holding him back . These members left the band after hearing the blueprint of this song and it was a departure from the soft harmony rock LRB was famous for.
Playing To Win is the only Little River Band song that John has kept in his concert set list every major concert since leaving the Little River Band in 1986 .

John is an amazing entertainer, his band and backup singers were with him for many years. A large, happy family. There are so many brilliant LIVE (always LIVE for John, he puts in 110% for his audience) energetic, performances to react to! His microphone antics are looked forward to; he used to destroyed a few at every performance! I saw him in concert 4 times over my younger years with another later performance when he was over 70 years old in 2018; he never missed a note, and loves performing and interacting with his audience. You will not regret reacting to any of his performances! Another, fast paced one is: It's a long way to the top (if you wanna Rock n Roll) an AC/DC cover. For a change of pace: the beautiful ballad: A Touch of Paradise. Sooo many, I can't decide which to recommend. By the way: your English is great, the people who are commenting obviously haven't tried to learn another language; it is so difficult, especially if you don't have the opportunity to practice it with a native English speaker. I am 67 years old and trying to learn Italian; not easy at all to string correct sentences together. Keep up the good work, more reactions of John Farnham will increase your subscribers ten fold! Us Aussies are finally appreciating him for the great singer that he is (when we were growing up; he was 'always there' so very much taken for granted). He is the GOAT (Greatest of all time)!

John Farnham can sing just about anything ! He sings in over 20 genres ! He co-wrote this song. I disliked your way of showing a blurred screen with 'Copyright' flashing all the time. It was irritating. You need to improve upon this. John is such a dynamic and charismatic performer and when he performs we can't take our eyes and ears off him. Jimmy Barnes has said that John is the better singer and performer. John's band and back-up singers are some of the best in the business. Other rock songs that he does are a cover of AC/DC's, 'It's A long Way To The Top If You Want To Rock And Roll,' and an audio cover of Led Zepplin's, 'Black Dog' . John does both better than the originals. As you mature musically you will appreciate more of John's other songs.
PS. We first language English speakers realise that it is not your first language so don't worry if you cannot say and express word well in English. At least you attempt a good go of it. As an Aussie, I can only speak a very small, pathetic smattering of school-learnt French as a second language.
