One of my favorite songs from John, such a great upbeat rock song with great vocals and great instrumentals. John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing anything, any genre. Just epic.

It sounds so funny listening to people who don't know John hearing him for the first time(i first saw him in 1968!) Androgynous good grief Charlie Brown....and people who weren't there for the eightues let alone the sixties. Best male voice of his era!

No "Coc" on that stage, this is a clean band and John is not a "doper", that is all pure adrenalin. In fact, an early guitarist admitted his addiction to John and he related it was John who convinced him to go for rehab. John is a "master" vocalist and admired by many in the Music Industry worldwide. His career spanned 6 decades, with No.1s in 5. He also held the place of "King of Pop" for 5 consecutive years 1969-1973. John is a "legend", and one of the nicest men you could meet. 💞

As one of the men said - “The dam piano or the keyboard” - is called a Keytar. A music producer doesn’t know what a keytar is?
For The bands American input -
David Hirschfelder the Keytar player has won American and Australian movie and TV music awards. Farnham sang quite a few songs in American movies.
The bald guitarist Wayne Nelson is an American born in Missouri, played in Little River Band . Also one of John’s back up singers, Venetta Fields, born in America and was an Ikette as in Ike and Tina Turner.
John Farnham was lead singer in America for The Little River Band for a while.,
John’s band is like a family. They performed together for decades.

But an even better performance of this song is with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, it is totally next level....
As for your mate, I fully support his right to an opinion, whether I agree or not. But I love the 80s and I can fully appreciate the music from that time. WHY? Because I was there :)

Hahaha. No cocain users in that group. High on life. John is one rock star with the squeakiest clean reputation.
He would be around 41/42 in this video.
Depending in how you look at his career...his prime could be his late 30's in 1986 through to his late 40's in 1999, where this video sits.
Or it could be his early to late 30's from 1980 through his time as lead singer of the Little River Band ( Which, coincidentaly was when he originally wrote Playing to Win)....or even his early King of Pop era from 1967 as a 18 yo through to the mid 70's.
John has reinvented himself a few times over the years to stay current in the evolving music industry.
Most people would say it's the period 1986 to 1999 when he really hit his staps and bust out of the teen odol mode into adult contemporary music. ❤❤

For another take on his versatility try the soulful "When something is wrong with my baby" (1991) with Jimmy Barnes. Jimmy was hard rock and did do a lot of cocaine (and Vodka) back in the day although he cleaned up pretty well. For John it was just cigarettes and rum.
    th-cam.com/video/AU_bCchDWF4/w-d-xo.html
For more high energy John try the cover of 'Long Way to the Top' with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra - it's just so damn joyous. th-cam.com/video/73X_z_zW4Sg/w-d-xo.html
Oh and key board player was David Hirschfelder - he went on to get a couple of Academy Award nominations for movie soundtracks.

It was the 80s, mullets where it. And yes he is more handsome than you even now, so such it up, the men's from another, better relm. Im sooooo glad he didn't finish that plumbers apprenticeship. It sounds like its from the 80s? Of course, its from the 80s. 80s music was popular in the 80s, der. You need to get on to Saterday the 14th the negative13th is doing nothing for you. Your running down THE VOICE, dont do it even if you cant appreciate arguablely the best voice in 60 years. The yanks where interested but only he would stick to one kind of popular song, their loss Australia's gain. Once again the negative neddy is pulling you down.
