I must say you did a massive comparison that is up2date even today. Solid arguments for both cars described as most of recipients were expecting. You've nailed it down. No one is even close to such a precise content on those two e-cars.
Another great and entertaining review. Will never be able to purchase these cars but the entertainment value of watching, and forgive me for saying this but Old Top Gear’esque edited video and a great presenter who draws you in makes easy viewing! Rory keep smashing it pal!

Even before the days of internet I have been watching Car reviews and seen 100s of guys doing reviews...some are great...some good and some ok, but ever since watching this guy I don't feel like watching any other shows....Rory is the best ..especially his Bentley Flying Spur review was as good as the Flying Spur itself.
I have owned my taycan turbo for 6 months. Having owned ferrari 599, Porsche turbo, amg gts and many others, this car is addictive. It is the best. Your criticism about fake duct: not true. If is an actual duct. Just wash it once. The air con is great. You set it once and forget. The gear lever is a non event and works just fine. Driving it is just v fantastic. Like an S class and 911 merged into one. Best car I've ever owned.
I have also owned ferrari 488, audi r8, turbo s 911, gtr, cls 63 and many others and i share you the taycan turbo is by far the best, i understand exactly what you mean
Great analysis👏🏾 It is a tough choice though…Audi is cheaper, is more attractive, has better cockpit functionality yet less storage space and a hum whereas the Taycan delivers premium performance, still looks classical and has more space…I’d love to test drive them both😃👏🏾
Great review just to mention, Uk prices are so different than in EU, i mean basically a fully loaded adui e tron gt rs is about 175000 € but the taycan turbo is 200000 €, so in my country actually the audi is a reasenable choice.
Nobody forced you out of the EU.. You could have saved 30 grand next week when you were planning to get the Taycan. All it took was voting "stay" on that crucial day.. LOL...
That was kind of a cop out there at the end! All good, I made my choice with the Taycan and I stand by it 100%. Best car I’ve ever owned. That Audi is a very worthy competitor tho.
Love your reviews Rory, you deserve your recognition. I would actually prefer the Tasycan Cross (hope they do a sport turismo). I suspect the Porsche might retain its value better on resale meaning you aren't any worse off overall - just a hunch
Rory this is just an amazing review and you should be proud of it. As a Taycan owner, I love it. Everything is spot on. Love my Taycan but totally agree about the over engineering of some simple interior processes such as changing the direction of the vents.
What an honest review, I’m an Audi freak, I will probably end up with a RS GT, but good to know what I’m sacrificing against the Porsche 👍🏼 Upgrade tyres, lower suspension, software upgrade to cancel the “annoying humm 🤔”, Upgrade custom wheels, Carbon ceramics and you got a Porsche beater 👊🏼😎
@@ymyone After many hours in both, I picked the eTron GT. I liked the styling a little more, handling was very close, same performance, but the cockpit and dashboard I preferred in the Audi. I also didn't like how with Porsche I can't just move an air vent, I have to control it via the touchscreen. Not ideal when driving and you're having to take your eyes off the road. Haven't regretted my choice. Wouldn't go back to ICE now!

So I had this very debate with myself, sort of... Taycan (2WD) versus e-tron GT Quattro, value for money was with the Audi, some of the standard features on the Audi were options on the Taycan, e.g. the pano roof (£1137)... I test drove the RS GT and the Taycan (2WD) so not a direct comparison but for actual seat comfort the GT was by far the more comfortable of the two and the Taycan had the optional 14 way adjustable comfort seats fitted, looks wise both externally and internally the Audi had it, the lack of touch screens was a plus... Audi seem to have taken the approach of "Electric is different enough, lets not make the car too alien an environment that it feels like driving electric has to be an entirely different experience altogether, let's get people use to the powertrain being different before we try and sell our customers spaceships". so for me the Audi won out (my wife's opinion too), so now I have the long wait for delivery...
For 3 grand difference rather go tycan all day. More practical and holds more value too. Audi is nice but I think for 3 grand difference rather go tycan also more optional extras
I love both the taycan and the e-tron but they're so pricey brand new makes it impossible for the average joe. Have to either wait far few years for EVs to come down in price or pick up a second hand... through auto trader 😉
The Porsche is incredible. I had a ride in one yesterday. I love the Audi's look more, but I absolutely hate that colour. A matte gun grey like the Mercedes AMG would be much better.
I think VW is going for different aesthetics here, rather than ranking one above the other. The e-tron looks like a luxury sedan that can be fast, and the Taycan looks like a sports car that can also be comfortable.
What a superb review. I’ve been in the Porsche. It captured my heart. I’d have it in a lower spec, longer range version though. It doesn’t need to be that fast to enjoy it.
I know these two are based on the same underpinnings and are therefore similar, but did not one else notice Rory called the Audi the Taycan (1:41)? Never thought I'd say this, but It's actually have the eTron. Part of the joy of having a Porsche is the glorious engine sound. If you haven't got that then might as well look elsewhere. Also, think the Audi has the edge on looks at the front and back, instead of the 911 inspired looks that Porsche can't seem to break free from.
Why would there be a boost in hp for the first 2 seconds of the start? Isn't hp related more to top speed? Where as torque determines how quickly the vehicle accelerates, potentially. So wouldn't it be better to increase torque for the first 2 seconds of the start rather than hp? You'd be more likely to feel the full potential of the added torque than the added hp, I would think. Any clarification would be lovely
There is no comparison in looks, the Audi looks 10x better and that is one awesome color. As for the hum I think it's really cool, also I'm pretty sure electric cars will sooner or later require that humm sound so pedestrian can hear the car. It's meant to be a sci fy/ safety feature
