Those Romans are nuts, but the AI plays with the same perspective as auto resolve - they overrate numbers, and infantry. Having a Roman-free Balkan peninsula in the next part will be immensely satisfying. Will you take Southern Italy? I agree going over to Asia Minor will be fun, but it might be worth at least knocking the Brutii out before Marian reforms. I think you did re-ignite the plague by moving troops in and out of Larissa. It's painful, but the best way to eradicate it is to just wait until everyone, including the general, is plague free and then move out. I suspect you caught plague at Thermon via an enemy spy, IIRC there were a couple floating about in previous parts. One thing you can do is preemptively recruit your own spies in adjacent settlements to prevent enemy spies spreading your plague. That was a good watch tower you placed en route to Scythia proper. A small tip is that you can detach your general from the army to place the tower, then reattach him to maximise movement points, since the infantry will always have less movement than the cavalry. You'll have to keep an eye on your young generals in the south, with your old favourites getting old or plague-ridden. Pick out the next conquering Dacian hero for a new generation.
It’s the perfect time to knock out the Romans if I want a Roman-free mid game…. I have to make up my mind. I might knock out at least the Brutii and leave the Julii for the late game post-Marian challenge. Regardless of what I do with the Romans, going through Asia Minor and up to Parthia is my current plan. I want to encounter some of the middle eastern armies I haven’t faced in any of my campaigns yet. I sometimes forget that characters hold on to plague longer than their armies and their cities. @@tdsniper215 I like the idea of seeing some new factions. Even if you only go halfway and say just conquer Anatolia, it'll be cool to see Pontus, Armenia and Egypt. The Germans and the Gauls have their interesting unique units, but overall they're very similar to the Dacians in terms of general army type and tactics. Also the German settlements are garbage, so good call to avoid going there, haha. It's always a catch 22 with the Romans - like 95% of playthroughs feature them extensively. Yet they're so OP and irritating that it's hard to resist knocking them out if you get a chance. You did it pretty efficiently in the Spanish campaign, but they deserved it for picking on you.

Their camo is too effective even for me 😔💔 Those mercenaries know they’re on thin ice with me. If they want to survive a battle they have to try harder 🤠
