Recently found your channel and binge watched this Dacia campaign everyday after work. I'll now go check out your Spain campaign while this one is on halt. Keep up the good work my friend !

I really appreciate the support :) The Spain one has its own charm as I struggled with the difficulty much more on it. Planning to bring back both series ASAP but waiting on a fix to my computer which broke during the move.

I concur, I think this is a better compromise. I actually think you'd have been overwhelmed playing 'crazy', as your economy had tanked and you have so many wars to fight in so many different regions.
Dunno why that general in particular was immortal, but often the last surviving member of any unit in general seems to be impervious to a lot of damage. It's infuriating when your archers waste three rounds of ammo just trying to kill one guy who runs around in circles deflecting arrows.
You definitely need to get a replacement army down to Italy, that's a LOT of Romans heading your way, haha. Don't forget you have that spy around Macedonia, he's probably better deployed elsewhere, like northern Italy or Anatolia.

It’s interesting how quickly a strong economy shatters in the game, I’ll have to try to recover it and get back on track. Trade should start picking up here pretty soon as I take more port cities in Italy and Asia Minor.
That general was a hilarious super soldier. I would guess it has something to do with the game struggling to have any of the units make contact with the hitbox of the soldier because they’re pushing each other out of the way.
I hope I can beat the Julii armies they’re sending down 🥲 Definitely need some reinforcements ASAP.

This seems like a much better approach! Thanks for listening! :)
The western front is definitively going to be a challenge now for a while.

Oh yeah, regarding that general: I have no idea why he was that level of tanky, but while I don't remember the exact details (it's been like 15 years since I played RTW), I remember that phalanx units could have their effectiveness increased quite a lot by giving them the "stop" order when another unit manages to get past the spears. It makes them reset and drop their spears again. I think the front rank would still be forced to use the swords at the start, but the rear ranks spears would push the enemy back so that another stop order a few seconds later would get them all back to spears.

Hoplites are so interesting because they’re just so jank 😅 The little dance they do and how impossible they are to keep in formation. I’ll try the stop order thing next time.
I’m definitely excited for the challenge on the western front, that Julii invasion is seriously nasty

Hey! Id like to, again, offer my two cents :D. I think playing inteligently is the proper way to go. Its impossible to try to play a strategic game and being dumb. At the very least it will make the game too long, waiting for RNG and brute force to overwhelm enemy. No fun in that. Aslo, It is difficult in this game to come up with a set of rules that are not too restrictive, but make the game more enjoyable. Many tried and failed :D.
That said, I like the idea of limiting your troops. Getting rid of troops that the computer cannot deal with is also good idea.
To elaborate on this "house rules" i propose to consider:
    - Generaly limiting your top tier troops. For ex. Chosen units: You Can forbid from using them at all (as you did with archers), limit to only one unit per army, or the most fun to me, limit to only unit in the faction. (they are -Chosen-, so it doesnt make sense to have whole army composed of -chosen- men.) Also apliccable to Noble cavalry etc. makes more "realistic" armies and intices you to use specialised units aswell.
    - Or limit training Tier 2 units only in capital city.
    - Only autoresolve battles when a general is not present. (saw this in comment two episodes ago, would entice you to spread and use generals around map)
    - Limit number of units in army to 10/12 (feels too artificial, but could make sense in a particular set of rules)
    - Ironically its way more difficult to have an ally in this game, than to attack everyone. You could try to nurture your spartans to bee a good allies. (I heard that mirroring their armies with yours on the border, when they check up your cities, generally keeps them in line)
    - Allow using mercs only for one battle/turn/etc.
    - Dont use peasants to crowd control (i saw in some video they only give cca 50% of public order anyway)
    - Forbid camping in city squares when defending.
I would consider to implement these and other rules with your new campaign, it allows you then to try to play to your best abbilities. Also getting chevrons and upgrades will make you happy on low tier units.
Lastly free idea for next campaign... Exodus campaign: I always liked gauls, but not their starting position, so what you woud do, is compile the armies and send them to a different part of a world, greece perhaps, and capture some rebel city there. Let the other towns rebel. Play normally from there.
Sorry for this being rather long and in broken english. I am too lazy to correct all gramatic issues it has, It was written with a good intent tho. :D

These are all good ideas! Thanks for the suggestions. I’m sure I will need to implement various rules as I go along in these campaigns. I love the idea of an exodus campaign and would love to do that sometime! I was going to start one but Lugotorix returned with his exodus campaign after years of being off of TH-cam so I didn’t want to make it appear like I was taking his idea. I think something like Egypt but away from its incredibly strong economic heartland and stuck in England or France or Germany.
