Loved the video. I have the nipple and have been crawling under the car and putting the diff lock on for years, but want to do the conversion. My Dif lock light has stopped coming on. Is this a problem and how will I know if diff lock is engaged if there is no light?

Hi, I have a TD5 without any CDL parts. I can get a 300tdi transfer box with all the selector linkages. Can I use it in my Disco2? I was thinking swapping the transfer box front housing? Thanks Bruce
Hi- I just had a cdl internals+linkage fitted by a garage. I was told the warning light wasn’t present so it doesn’t work. However I can see it in the dash and I think the wiring was connected to the switch that goes on transfer case. Any suggestions of why it might not work ? First thing I’m going to do is check bulb in instrument panel
It would only be the light and electronic side that’s not working. If they fitted the diff lock it’s mechanical. I would check they have actually fitted it then see if it locks. The way to test it. Is to Lift one side of the truck put the truck in gear and in to diff lock. And try turn the front and back wheels opposite With diff lock they should only turn the same direction. If you have a auto, put it in park.
Do all Discovery 2's have the diff lock built in but no factory way to activate it, except 2004 models that rolled out of factory with it. Picking up a 2003 LR Discovery 2 SE Auto
They did a breifing period. 2000-20004. Where it what hit and miss. Some got. It. Some didn’t. It’s easy to check. By climbing under and using a torch. Which. You should be checking. The transfer box and gear box for leaks anyway. And any signs. If bad rust and rot. On the chassis.
@@HomoTheBeast Looking under what would be the indication that mine has it or not, rust free, 118k just a bad oil/coolant leak from the timing chain cover so that gasket seems to be dead and gone.
Sorry about the delayed reply, only just got the message. The only way to tell would be from under the car and looking up between the transfer box and gear box to the point where it would be.
If it’s the r380 Box yes. But some of the earlier ones are different ratio and different fitting I believe but don’t hold me to that. So if you can get a 97 or 98 300tdi box I believe it will fit. But with the price of those. It’s nearly the same as the price of one from a d2. So join the discovery 2 owners club. And then join the selling page on Facebook and there is transferboxes with difflock on there forsale rather cheap
+well done no not all of them have the diff lock function. The beast does mention this I believe in part two of the video. I will get in touch with him today and get a better response. BB
+well done Pre 2000 do. And some 2004s have it. At 14:20 in part one of the video, Beast explains about how to see if your car has the diff lock function. So before you strip out your car, make sure you watch how to see if your car has diff lock. BB
Hi guys, I bought the top hats and levers off Facebook but it appears there is no bolts with it. Do you happen to know what size and length the longer bolts are?
Good video tho mate not long got a disco 2 03 good bit of info, when looking to see if you have diff lock or not is ther a difference between manual and auto if you know what i mean

It can be used bit there is electrical parts missing. In the 300 box that are needed for the td5
hello on mine when feel around there i have a bolt thread sticking up out of there does this mean i cant do the conversion thanks
At the bottom of those threads there should be two flat sides. If they are there you can do the conversion

Who is MANUEL?
Does it mean that all gearboxes on the Disco 2 are equipt with a diff lock ? You just add a lever control from a Model with Diff lock, that's all ?

Without stripping it down I don’t but you can simply Measure the depth of the holes and threads and add 10mm to get the bolt size
