After watching some of your recent videos I decided to go back and check the whole build out. You're skill level and attention to detail are on another level! Much respect to you!!
Man! You gave me a new direction of thinking! After a decades of years campinfmg on a motorcycle, then on a classic motorhome (campervan), now i see how cool is to be minimalistic! And be able to go anywhere!
Great video. This is fantastic, I have been trawling the internet for months to find info on converting a d2 into a camper. You have given me 10 times the material that I have already found in less than 8 minutes 👍. Your conversion is very similar to what I had in mind .... superb.. and thanks for sharing your great work. Regards from the u.k
Russ Woodard Thanks! I was in the same boat while I researched this build before I started a winter ago. Not much out there for D2's! Nearest I could ever find was Defender builds, but they are afforded quite a bit more space.
Respect à toute ces personnes qui en plus de faire un travail colossal sur leur véhicule , prennent le temps pour nous faire des vidéos afin que l'on voit comment faire , et de nous montrer que rien est impossible .
This is the coolest D2 build Ive ever seen. I spent a lot of time in the shop keeping these things on the road. Also have seen LS swaps but never a 4BT. That is awesome!
Would you share your cad plan? I actually bought a disco because of you and this video. I'm a retired Marine and want to build this for my dog and me to go traveling in. If not, I understand...
Thanks! It's a funky color for sure, best match I could find to that goofy Rover interior... which has been growing on me since that color hides dirt so well.
H.J. Walker They have a pretty healthy interior volume for a solid-axle truck with a wheelbase only a few inches longer than a Jeep & more than a foot shorter than most Land Cruisers or Defenders!
Victoria Meyer Hey thanks :) Kept me occupied that last winter, but I think I've had my fill of this wishy-washy winter... bring on the spring! I need some sun!
So I take it you sleep in a roof top like myself and live from the back of the rig, I use an awning that sleeps 3 that attaches by zipper under the canopy of the tent and have the rear of the disco a platform for living from. I really appreciate the time you would of spent designing this system and I love the finished build, if your ever headed north bound and into Scotland, buzz me and I will give you some inside info on routes to take man, All the best
I'm actually sleeping right out of the back, on the folding bed section. Roof's mostly for expanding cargo & fuel range, also for solar panels in the future. I haven't shown much of me sleeping in back because my very cheap cameras are terrible in lowlight. You can see some of it in my sand dunes video here: th-cam.com/video/d-nOk5EJ5RM/w-d-xo.htmlm42s Getting out that way would be a dream for sure, good looking out!
Tinker cool man! I am currently going through you uploads as I've only just found you channel, it's great know that your sleeping in the vehicle, most people I know who have converted their Discos into campers sleep on the roof, if I didn't have such a large family that is what I would be doing, no need to step out of the vehicle when Scotland sky's open up 🌧
Yeah the roof + awning/canopy is a fantastic combo! I love how that style is so expandable & turns into a "basecamp" so readily. With my setup you'd definitely want to be comfortable with any other person that will be in the back with you... not the largest back there so it makes for very intimate sleeping quarters haha! Sometimes the peninsulas of Michigan here can feel like an island with all the precipitation/cloudcover/fog. Beautiful when you go all the way to our northern stretches, the Keweenaw, but still can hardly compare to your northern areas

Those coils are such a pain! I'm looking forward to gutting my braking system & ditching the ABS + going with stainless braid everywhere, maybe non-float calipers too. Happy to hear another Disco staying on the road & getting some love :)
I love disco's and defenders, I had to laugh at the fact there is more room allocated for spare parts and tools than there is for clothing. Great build look forward to the updated version.
Great build thanks for sharing. But like a few others have mentioned not sure about the carpet. I lined my 110 throughout with carpet and after 3 years I still haven't got the Sahara sand out of it.
The rear overhang is much shorter on the D1. Less space, but the rear doesn't drag when off roading. I had a D2 and would scrap on the tow hitch climbing hills.
