- As promised, I make it down to the beach that I've had my eye on for quite a while, having crossed over the severn bridge many times, I finally get some bait in the water!
The calm between the storms. Will I stay dry & more importantly, will I catch anything? Stay tuned to find out!
Aust beach is in the shadow of the grand & very beautiful Severn Bridge, opened on 8th September 1966 by Queen Elizabeth II. It's just shy of a mile long, reaches up 445 ft & crosses the rivers Wye & Severn.

I'm from chepstow. can get bass this far up. fish in close away from the tide pull. also when fishing Sudbrooke try smaller tides as the tide pull is very strong. many cod caught off there.

Plenty of bass to be had there along with eels whiting sole flounder cod rays , they don’t care about the fresh water 👍

The upper reaches of the Bristol channel are the places where the early Cod begin to show up, it may be a little early but you never know. Another pleasurable video

Go to Lavernock on low tide off the sand Bank for bass, 1hr run.
Fish down river of new s bridge off the boulders at Severn beach into a place called salmon pool 10.5 tide as they are decreasing with rag and squid cocktail. Had a 12.5 cod there. Always take an extendable gaff as I have seen big cod been lost when they are lifted over rocks. If you fish the river at night on your own as I have done for years be aware if you make a bad decision it could be fatal if you fall in. I take a whistle and strobe on me just in case and ran through what I would do if I did fall in w jackets n boots on. Lady bay can b sketch as there are large drops n slippery ankle snapping rocks. 👍👍
Thanks for the info mate, its on my list of places to go. I have got a whisky somewhere, think I have it to my daughter. Its one of those with three tones and is really loud. I have also a small torch with strobe function. That might save my life! Cheers bud 🙏

Make sure to put your bait away or hang it from the tripod cos I had a rat try to drag mine away between boulders and it was right next to me There’s a big flat one just big enough to set up on minimise movement to minimise risk 👍👍👍👍
10.5 tide as measured from which port? Avonmouth ?
I presume thats metres.
Yes Mtrs and I would get the my tide app and use Portis head pin. Avonmouth is up the river not same as Severn 👍 b aware that lots of rain will push fish back down the channel due to salt content of water. So best wait till the flood waters gone down a bit. N take a gaff
try out, new passage by severn beach and use a flapper rig with worm. local advice. good luck.

Hello, sorry about the late response. It depends on where you're fishing but I've usually mostly fished the high tides due to access. Some places where you can walk down a flat beach for instance, fishing low tides can have just as good results. Just depends on where the fish are at the time I suppose. The rocks you fished u der the princess of Wales Bridge would be divers rock sudbrook, great mark for cod, been down there twice in the last week or so and had 6 or 7 cod out!

As you walk down onto the rocks there is a big flat one fish of that and cast slightly right I find there's less pull there, if you go round to the left hand side on the higher rocks the tide rips you right around even with 7oz leads 👍🏻 may see you down there sometime
@@seanclayton5990 I've seen people fishing the other side of the bridge when the tide is out on the bank. Maybe that was you? Cheers Sean
Is that Aust side? There is a low water mark there, I've not fished it myself and by all accounts it's a dangerous mark to fish without someone who knows it well as the water comes right behind you and cuts you off
@@seanclayton5990 Yes Aust. That's where I was fishing. Were you talking about Chepstow side coz I was a bit confused when you were talking about rocks?! I was fishing on Aust beach with the dangerous bit the other side of the bridge. I've heard it can be dangerous but can be fished if you know the tide!

Got a caravan down bream sands so I go on the lake, because you got to wait for the low tide on bream sands and fish it up for 3 hours
