    Adore the still photography as much as your video’s, you always set the scene beautifully.
    My nephew can’t manage my 4+bait, but! Little fella& his sister love pond fishing 👍
    My Dad taught me, to fish, I’m doing my best on my “right hand rod “ to teach them.
    Family knowledge =fun family times Gareth
    Thank you for the content you put out, I truly enjoy it.
    Really reminds me of fishing @ Mostyn, up here on the Dee when we fished a hole/ scour for conger. We only got one if we drifted a light lead in an arc to the rock bank by our feet. For the conger it was top draw, silted up a lot since then😢
    Once again, cracking content and please keep the nature/ natural aspect.

      Thank you David, appreciated as always. I'm pleased to hear that you're enjoying the content, I always try my best to capture the scenery and beauty of the marks I fish. My videos only do well when there's fish to show and that's a shame as there's much more to fishing than catching fish. Yes definitely, fishing is a family affair and it's great that you take your niece and nephew out...I think fishing can teach kids so much about natural history etc, it's a beneficial learning curve. I need to fish some of the North Wales marks such as Mostyn etc, finding time is my biggest issue but I'll get up there one day. Hope all is good with you, cheers for watching 👍👍

      Thank you for the donation Michael, very much appreciated. I shall put that towards a new camera which I hope to purchase later this year. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video. Lavernock is a lovely place, particularly when the weather is good, something unique about it and I'm looking forward to going back in the Autumn. Mackerel is a great bait isn't it, I always have some with me! Have a great weekend 👍👍

Thanks Gareth hope you’re keeping well, till next time mate take care 👍🎣🎣

      Thank you Stephen. Yes it was another enjoyable session at a lovely mark. Laverock is unique and when the sun is shining on that cliff face, it's stunning. Ha yes, the Congers were on the feed that day, they were hitting the baits within minutes but as you say, a fish is a fish and it's just nice to see the rod tips bouncing. These days, I'm happy to catch anything. Hope you're well mate, enjoy the weekend 👍👍

    Great video as ever mate. Those rods were going mad lol, can’t believe how many eels you caught. Dont think ive hear of anybody catching that many in a sesh. All fun though. Every time you’d start talking they’d start biting 😂 take care Gareth, roll on the next one 👍🏻🎣🎣

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  ปีที่แล้ว +2

No doubt there were other species out there too but they had no chance of getting to the bait first! All good fun though as you say, it's always nice to get a few bites. I have a sneaky feeling that this spot will fish well for the Cod come the Autumn, it does look very Coddy! Hope all is good with you mate, enjoy the weekend...tight lines! 👍👍

    Thank you for sharing your fishing 👍 I always look forward to your channel postings .
    Love the story about your dad catching short and beating the guys with all the gear 👍 l fished a match on a lake when a pleasure angler turned up and asked could he pleasure fish the end peg of match. He had a cheap rod and his fishing kit was in a Tesco bag, some of the match guys scoffed at him and his kit . Ha ha 😆 look at his kit let him fish he won’t catch anything anyway. Well the match started,and it was a grueler hardly any thing caught. Except for the guy pleasure fishing 😀who just couldn’t go wrong 👍fish a chuck , carp tench, bream one after another 😀 while the rest of the lake struggled. Slowly the moaning started, who let him fish, ? shouldn’t be allowed, after 4hrs of none stop catching and trebling the weight of the nearest match man , the guy packs up his Tesco bag and heads for home. As he walked past me I said, 🤔not leaving already are you? 🤔You were bagging up!! 🤔
    In a loud voice so everyone could hear he said Yes my Work here is done ! ,!😀
    Talk about rubbing it in 😆
    It was class👍

      Haha very good Shaun, I enjoyed reading this story 😂. You gotta love it when something like that happens as it just goes to show that it's not all about the expensive tackle and the fish don't really care how much the rod cost! Almost every time I fish St Brides at Newport there's a bloke down there and he's an absolute nuisance...tells me that I'm using all the wrong gear an that I'm casting wrong etc...you gotta love it! Cheers 👍👍

    For me, your videos encapsulate what fishing is all about; it transcends merely the catching of fish The piano scores that accompany your videos send me back to my teenage years, at a time when I went fishing alone but unfortunately, I never had anyone to show me how to fish. I enjoy the stories that you share with us of the time you had together fishing with your dad, he'll be proud of you for sure! The opening lyrics to 'The Who' song, 'Bellboy', always strike a chord with me.... "A beach is a place where a man can feel he's the only soul in the world that's real".

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah thank you, that's nice of you to say and I appreciate it. I try my best to capture the full experience of my fishing trips, hence why I put a large emphasis on the scenery/surroundings etc. For me nowadays, it's just nice being out there, spending a few hours next to the water. It's a shame that you never had anyone to show you how to fish, I guess I was lucky that Dad taught me and this is why I like to reminisce as I like to keep those memories alive. I don't think I've listened to that song before but I will definitely check it out as those lyrics are very apt! Cheers as always, have a good weekend 👍👍

    ‘Be more Gareth’ …that’s my son and I’s mantra. When we are on a fishing session that is going wrong (wading out to cast & falling over, tripod falling over, bail arm flipping over when casting 🤦🏻‍♂️) …we say ‘be more Gareth’ and the frustration and steam building up between the ear turns to laughter & calm. I even sometimes try to impersonate your calm nature (although my Welsh accent would probably offend the entire population of Wales 🤦🏻‍♂️) …but it works!
    ”I’m enjoying this” should be your catch phrase.
    Anyway, got to go, me & my lad have an appointment with a high tide early in the morning.

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, you don't want to be more like me Tony, you'll catch less fish! Yes fishing can be frustrating at times, especially when trying to battle the flooding tide, trying to do three things at once. It can be even worse when filming but I do my best to remain calm, although that's not always easy ha! I've lost count of the amount of times my camera tripod has fallen over at an important moment! I hope you and your boy are having a good session this morning. Cheers for watching, tight lines! 👍👍

    Just watched the video mate, brilliant content as usual. The close ups of the nature around you sets your fishing videos apart from the rest. Evocative, inspiring, and so obvious of the amount of work you put in. You should be proud of what you put on TH-cam mate, the work involved is apparent and I think certainly appreciated. Your personality is pure and it is so obvious that you wish the old man was with you today, and tomorrow. I know the empty feeling as well mate. Anyway, well done as the eel catcher extraordinaire, your only mistake in not catching a massive bass was your decision to not use my favourite fish catching system, the cheapy old boat rod, it surely deserves a spot in every video. Keep fishing mate, keep keeping us entertained and don't forget the rod that that made you famous pal 😂

      You definitely need to try the kitchen sink as a weight Matt, they cast like a dream and never get snagged up..there's a spare Armitage Shanks in my garden if you want it. Thank you, I appreciate it...bit of a Conger fest but enjoyable all the same. Hope all is well with the Caster's family, love and cwtches all round, see you on the beach 👍👍

    Let's all do the conger eh Gareth?😂 nice to see you again mate, sorry not been on for a while mate, had a few issues with rogue builders at our house. I have a similar story to tell like yours, visiting my parents caravan about 15 years ago for the weekend with my rods in the car. Flat calm water & all the local fishermen telling me I wouldn't catch a bass, well the day was turning to evening & all the locals were in the pub on pendine sands & I could hear them laughing in the distance. Anyway just after dark my rod doubled over & a fish was on, I had to walk up the beach 20 yards to pull it onto the sand, it was a lovely doubled figure bass. I couldn't resist having a quick pint before heading back to the van but to see the local fishermen's faces when I walked in with that bass was unforgettable, even my dad was in shock 😂😂 anyway take care until next time mate & keep up the good work my friend.

      Sorry to hear that Alan, annoying when you get a rogue builder, causes no end of problems, I hope you've managed to sort it. Nice story, I enjoyed reading it...always gives me great pleasure when the know-it-alls are proven wrong ha! If there's water in front of you then there's chance of a fish and I bet you were super chuffed when you saw that Bass emerge from the water! I bet that pint tasted good afterwards, a nice reward for your efforts! Cheers as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍

      Thank you Carl, it was an enjoyable session in fairness. Yes it's a lovely spot, just a nice place to be and there should be a few Codling there come the Autumn, although anything can turn up. Something nice about having a venue to yourself isn't it. Hope all is good with you mate, take care 👍👍

      Haha yes, the sandwich had to wait as those Congers wanted to play games all day! Yes it's the same up here, there's been weed everywhere for the past few weeks although it does seem to be thinning out a bit now. Thank you Andy, appreciated as always, enjoy the weekend 👍👍

    I find people are inclined to cast over the fish in the Bristol channel, I use a spinning rod with small hooks to "probe" where the bait fish are - and all to often they are 60 meters or less from the shore, while the well equipped anglers are going for the 100 meter casts - and blanking.

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes they are often close in. The majority of the good fish I've caught at marks along the Bristol Channel have been 30/40 yards out and that's why I always have a rod close in.
