IMO it bummed me out how many people were hating on Daima before it came out JUST because Goku got turned into a kid. Just goes to show how many dragon ball "mega fans" have no respect for where the show came from. Daima reads as a love letter to the original Dragon Ball series, and is excellent at what it's trying to do.

I think Toriyama's passing affected not only Daima, but also all of DB's anime/manga content in particular. It's a shame that it's still unclear who owns the DB IP by now Shueisha or Capsule Corp. (Akio Iyoku) so, as for me, although Daima will essentially be a big celebration of 40th Anniversary for all DB fans (except for GT fans, who consider Daima as "GT 2.0" or Super fans, who wanted a continuation of the Super arcs that had already been released a long time ago), it's still completely unclear what will happen next. But it's worth enjoying the moment while Daima isn't over. Most likely, it will be a one-off anime series that will probably end the era that was before Daima. As a composer myself, I can completely understand why Zedd thinks of that melody and chord progression as his favorite. The theme is wondrous. Visualizing the melody a step at a time, it’s perfectly balanced and achieves everything I’d think a big hit aims to do in his own way: Immediate establishment of the main idea (the 3 note tonic), followed by a some catchy syncopation that also doesn’t stray to far from the start pitch-wise. It then returns to the first idea with a variation in rhythm by doubling the pace (straight quarters to eighth notes) while also giving us tasteful dissonance in the chord progression and sitting on it for a while. 2nd part leads into a short melody that brings tension, then a variation with more resolution, and finishes with an iteration that resembles an earlier rhythm (keeps it feeling familiar), takes twice as long to finish (stretching out the impact) and landing on more lovely, dissonant harmonies (Dramatic Finish!)
My favorite bit in the song is when the singer asks Shenron for a wish for a new adventure. Given how often the dragon was used to revive the dead, I think that but is very directly about missing Toriyama.

I liked how you used the Outer Wilds Travelers theme near the end. A beautiful song whos themes really match with the video topic. A bunch of different people with different musical talents coming together to make something beautiful. I never grew up Dragonball. And when I heard that Toriyama sensei passed, I started trying to get into dragon ball by playing one of the dragon ball mobile games, and watch some episodes. And I feel bad that I couldn't watch it and read it before he passed. I felt like I missed out. Same with the Yugioh creator, Takahashi sensei. But because of the death of both, I was able learn some art stuff and make my character more efficient, because of both of there death, I made a extra story in my own work I'm working on, or I should say the middle part of the work I'm working on. But I better start drawing and writing. I thank you for making the video.
Wait a minute, that is totally not mark
I’ve just started watching this channels vids so the VO threw me for a loop.
This year has been terrible for the Anime community when Akira Toriyama died.
I’d argue that dragon ball has become even more popular because I’ve never seen it and just started watching.
@@joshuakolton9955its nice to hear that but dragon ball was always the goat and even more popular in the past in his prime.
Dragon ball forever
We've lost a lot of great artist over the last few years. especially Takahashi's passing, that hurt a lot.
When Daima was announced, I didn't complain like so many did I was hyped as hell just to have a new Dragon Ball anime as much like Zedd it was the only one I could get into there's just something about it and as a musician myself this opening fits thr vibe so well that when it played at the end of that first episode the tears came pouring out Thank you Akria Toriyama for everything I hope you see the influence you had on millions including myself
Daima is just beautiful. Thank you Toriyama..
The reveal of Jaka Jaan being identical to another Zedd song clears things up so much, I was in Walmart yesterday and head what I thought was an English cover of Jaka Jaan. I thought I was going insane.
Only 3 episodes in and each one has made me and am sure hundreds of more fans smile all the way through.
The quality of the animation, the setting, the jokes, it’s all SO Toriyama it’s beautiful
The soul of DBZ is alive. Thank you Mark.
Totally Not Mark and his alter-ego Definitely Not Mark
makes me happy to see zedd getting credits and working with the db team as one from germany
im actually tearing up.
0:01 wtf??? Gokaiger ost??? Let's gooooo
Tackle life with as much energy as Goku. I’ll try to do the same. It’s a sentiment in worldview that has without a doubt inspired millions across the globe. I think it’s the same view that everyone should take to heart.
Jaka jaan It's already an eternal classic
I'm not crying, you're crying
I was not ready to hear the Gokaiger soundtrack in the beginning
Not bad. *Makafushigi Adventure* is still my favorite though.
Jaka Jaan being based off a different song would explain a lot about why the OP ends kind of abruptly.
Really enjoyed this video.
I was at the comic con reveal. I was excited, my friend next to me was basically with the guy in the video. It was a great day. Rest in peace toriyama, your a true super saiyan
