I feel as though Freeza needs like a “Thanos Quest”-esque storyline. Like something for people to really witness what is going on and where Freeza is heading towards as an overall goal (plus backstory too). I know this was in the TOP anime where he sees Zeno and wishes to surpass all the gods and Mark highlighted a person that would suite those needs: Zuno. Imagine he not only asks the obvious stuff like “who’s the strongest?” “What’re the Saiyans up to?” But uses the opportunity to understand their weaknesses. Imagined he found Beerus’ weakness, how to get to different universes, different avenues of power, all for the sake of not fighting the heroes but to nuke them all at once to keep them away from his true goals of multiversal levels of conquest.
@@nereshadowthere’s always one mf who can’t help himself. Why even comment this? What did this person say that made you feel like you had to write this?
I think the craziest part is Granolah spent the whole arc thinking Vegeta and Goku were Friezas minions and that he would be stronger. At first everybody made fun of it cause realistically he should’ve surpassed Frieza, but he wasn’t far off.
huh i never even thought about that but it does make sense, if i was fighting a dude's minions and they were super strong i'd be shitting myself at the thought of how strong their boss is, even if i was assured i was the strongest in the universe lol
@@sourMaxipooFrieza was probably fighting someone or training someone as granolah was making that wish and since Frieza has the highest battle potential the wish didn’t really matter because he jumped a few hundred million power levels ahead of him. You also have to keep in mind granola was really exhausted and as we know exhausted bodies = EXTREMELY low PL. Jiren got reduced to SSG BOG base level in TOP. (Saying SSG BOG because goku’s is way stronger now then what he was.)
I've recently started reading the manga from the start and I feel that even though I grew up with the anime, Z was way more popular in Brasil and I'm honestly not that familiar with original DB's storyline. With that being said: Kuririn is a fucking G???? From the get go he's such a likable guy, the perfect foil to Goku in a different way than Bulma was, even more fitting I'd say. Kuririn is and has always been a G throughout the series.
I’ve speculated for a while (really since making broly canon) that we might see a build up to canonizing cooler. Essentially saying cooler died pre-Z and frieza uses the dragon balls to revive him and king cold. Having multiple villains of similar caliber would give you the ability to have goku, vegeta and (Gohan, broly or piccolo) the ability to have meaningful fights where they actually win instead of X character does a power up loses, and the goku saves the day
I don't think they'll make Cooler cannon. Especially if it's through revival cause then it's just a 1 to 1 remake of frieza. The only way I see it working is if Cooler is another universes version of frieza and Frieza brings hom over to their universe. Again though I doubt this'll happen
Personally, I thought the best time to introduce Cooler was during Resurrection F. That would have a cool way to bring in Cooler to essentially repeat his story arc. To me there is just no way to bring him in at this point without some over explanation as to why he's never been around. We're so knee deep in Super that Cooler would need a convoluted story just to fit in. With Broly it's easy. Even with planet Vegeta gone, there would still be scant Saiyans floating across the universe. Making a story about one of those being a mutant among their race out there can fit really anywhere within Super, and not needing a complex reason behind it. For Frieza that's a bit different. You will have to go back into the entire history of the Cold empire to figure exactly when and how Cooler appeared. Then explain exactly what killed him and why after all these years there is a sudden interest in resurrecting him. Frieza has no care for his father, even when given numerous chances to revive him. That pretty much says alot about the nature of their relationship. I don't think it's impossible to bring Cooler in the universe, I just think can't be done in a interesting way at this point without having to do a huge lore dump.
@@Vojou345They could actually introduce Cooler by saying he's Frieza's brother that even Frieza didn't know about and that Cooler has just been quietly waiting and watching and not had a reason to get involved til now
@@Vojou345 Nah, there's various ways they could bring Cooler into the story. They could even go the Broly route and make him a good guy. If they were to do that I could see them doing something along the lines of Cooler running away and faking his death because he was so terrified of his younger brother Frieza. I think it would be compelling to see him potentially team up with Goku and Vegeta, and interact with Frieza, balancing on this delicate line between the light and dark.
Modern Freeza is intimidating as hell. And yeah, since the ToP that the seeds for the current system is going to be overthrown by Freeza have been planted. And this calculated, calm version of him is scary.
Yeah I guess after seeing how strong other mortals are and that there are gods far beyond him as well as an entire multiverse, he realized things aren’t as simple as he originally thought and had to approach everything differently
Imagine if Frieza discovered time travel in the DB universe. Imagine what could do with that. Only a matter of time whem he sees current day Trunks and puts 2 and 2 together or hears aboutsome other way such as Goku Black and Zamasu
@@DarthWampa_ I am curious to wonder if Freeza knows the truth about Future Trunks. He has oddly never mentioned him since he came back for the TOP. I would have thought that he would have noticed that Trunks was not part of Team Universe 7 and at least ask where was that SSJ that cut him in two. One idea I had would be that maybe he did ask Goku off screen and found out who Trunks was, but decided not too pursue him since he is in a completely different timeline (at least for now).
@@Senwa_Zenno Well Frieza did inquire about Trunks in Resurrection F movie and mentioned revenge against him in the show. In episode 22 the DB Super show (if you consider it canon) Frieza saw kid Trunks and noted that he looked exactly like the one who killed him. If Frieza did in fact contact Zuno, he could possibly inquire with Zuno about the Saiyan who originally killed him. Once then it would lead to a chain of inquiry to discovering that Trunks was a time traveler and therefore time travel exists.
@@jaredohlstein7355 For me it feels like a few weeks. I skipped this once the Moro arc turned into shi. Why can't Toyotaro just give him a true transformation and not just a color change? No doubt his design is already flawless but so was the SSJ, but Akira risked with SSJ3 and GT risked with SSJ4 (still one of the best ones). Toyotaro could take some design risks in the future.
I love the fact that they're able to give Frieza character development without making him a good person. A better person, probably, but never good. It shows even unrepentant villains can grow as people
It’s interesting that Frieza is becoming more saiyan-like over time. Maybe he’s aware of this or not, but that desire to fight and ability to keep getting stronger through battle/training is far from the “effort is beneath us” type of mentality his race/bloodline lived by. It’s gotten to the point where he’ll give up a W and let his opponents live or power up so he can challenge himself more; there’s nothing more saiyan-like.
don't need to be a saiyan to be more active in life. this is more like he's getting motivated to really try out shinning everyone. I mean his race is were so damn lazy. that they forget there others out there well soon out level them. and I sure saiyans shouldn't be the only race that frieza has to worry about. but than again the dragon ball universe it's self is very small.
My guess is, now that Frieza knows he can level up much, much faster than Goku and Vegeta, he's biding his time until he can not only destroy Beerus, but Zeno Himself. Frieza may have adopted a more Saiyan like mindset, but this IS still Frieza we're talking about here. This vicious sociopath is waiting until he can finally destroy Zeno and prove once and for all that he is the Emperor of the Universe, and Emperor of all existence, at that. And then, after killing Zeno, the final fight will probably be him against Goku and Vegeta at their most insanely powerful selves.
you think Zeno guards and grand priest will sit quietly and let frieza kill Zeno lol not gona happen unless he learns God language and use super dragon ball to eliminate him
Someone PLEASE make something like this happen. Not only would it be such a fitting and layered conclusion, but SO MANY character arcs would be completed in an awesome and sensible way. Watching this made me so incredibily excited and hopeful for the possibilities this story could go in, and as always great video Mark!
okay this is the first comment that actually emphasizes how i felt watching this video, this. is. amazing. and even if nothing like this ends up happening i will DEMAND artists to animate such profound and great story telling scenes like these, hell, I will become an artist just to make it happen.
@@curse5697 Hahaha, it would indeed be great to see something like this get animated in any form. And if you do end up making a fan-animation of this, I'll gladly watch it with very keen eyes :)
I'm going to pitch something else entirely actually. This is based on Chapter 203; Beerus. Beerus was the one who started these events and I think he's the one who will ultimately bring then to their close. Beerus is becoming more and more concerned with the Saiyans power. He's concerned about Goku getting to UI level, he's concerned about Vegeta's growth into becoming a Destroyer, concerned about Broly's untapped power and now Gohan's Beast form are giving him pause. Maybe, just maybe, Beerus begins to understand Frieza's concern about the Saiyans and the fact that he didn't get the job done by destroying Planet Vegeta by allowing Goku and Vegeta to survive along with Broly and allowing Gohan to be born along with other hybrids like Goten, Trunks and Pan. Beerus is the one who teams with Frieza to finish the job. He can't allow these Saiyans to surpass him so he will allow Frieza to make good on what he was ordered to do years ago. But that's just a theory
Freeza ain’t beating no one’s ass. This is just fan service to appeal to freiza fans, this dude is an old villain. I fact the entire dragon ball franchise is old. Time to do something totally new. Mabey a reboot
This theme music gives me chills, it's so epic. I believe it's by Norihito Sumitomo (from the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' movie OST) but I can't find any interviews or anything of the like in English about him writing this theme. If anyone has anything, please link 🙏
Saying Frieza is your favorite DB villain is a lot like having T-Rex as your favorite dinosaur. It may not be original, but only because it's so obviously correct.
I think huge part of Dragon Ball was about Goku turning people hostile to him into being friendly to him. Bulma, Yamcha, Krillin, Tien shinhan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Android 18, Buu. I feel like Frieza has the same fate.
Goku turning rivals into allies is definitely a throughlline in Dragonball. The TOP showed that Frieza is not only able to fight alongside Goku, but that they work together quite well and Frieza can even trust his consistancy. It was an oddly satisfying conclusion to that arc. When it comes to redemption, I say it's always possible but not always probable. Frieza may be more patient and values training, but he's still quite sadistic as shown when tormenting others in the TOP, killing off Paragus to enrage Broly, and gut-punching Goku and Vegeta when showing off his Black form leaving them in deep pain for basically no reason. He still seems rather malicious and selfish, which is what makes him dangerous.
This is what people overlook when they say they’re tired of freeza. Freeza now is a completely different character and quite possibly the most dynamic in the series. Every time he shows up, he’s grown more dangerous in every way and now he’s possibly even grown past his rivalry with the sayains. I can see him being the god of destruction but ever since he became aware of Zeno I’ve seen him as being fueled by grander ambitions. Which is perfect for the character because with all his character development i now see him ultimately as the dbz version of Thanos, someone who is intelligent and powerful enough to actually win. Someone capable of achieving supreme godhood but also arrogant enough to get bored of it and give it up for the love of the game. To me that’s the most fitting end I see for him now, actually dethroning Zeno and pulling a comic book Thanos by realizing he secretly loves the game even more than winning it. Super did for freeza what post namek dbz did for vegeta but with Toriyama dying who knows what’s going to happen
That comment of him wanting to fight with someone by his side gives me the idea of his much cooler brother. COOLER. I hope they bring Cooler into the canon story. It'd be so awesome to see him and Cooler fighting Goku and Vegeta
Eh, idk. Unless Cooler happens to start out much closer to modern Frieza in personality (which I think would be weird since movie cooler and King Cold have always been absurdly evil), I feel like it could be kinda lame. Sure it leaves room for the chance of conflict between them and Frieza needing to kill his own brother or some shit but idk.
You should check out Unrealentgaming’s Top 5 strongest in the multiverse fan manga he created. This exactly what happens. He finds cooler right after the Granolah arc and they start training together
Guessing here: Freiza's arc "lately" seems to be that he's identified himself not as a destined lord of everyone, but a warrior who can *prove* he's better than you. That probably encompasses not only his own power, but his manipulations. Maybe even his tutelage. Given also his statement after witnessing fusion, I imagine we're going to get a new villain duo, in typical Toriyama fashion. If you remember, there was also some rumblings on re-adapting Cooler in the same fashion they did with Broly. So we may get an arc in which Freiza instigates Goku and Vegeta to prepare to confront him, and then they're introduced to a "son" or long lost brother or so on, who is revealed to be an adapted Cooler design who they also cannot overcome, as they were training together for all that time to achieve the 'black' transformation. The latest arcs have almost no development beyond the core thought, so I imagine this will come down to Freiza overwhelming everyone in concert with demonstrating some kind of fusion with his "other self," and maybe some demonstration of a Broly fusion for the first time as fan service. But the big act 3 reveal will be that the son/clone he's made does not share his values and/or wants to overthrow him. Freiza realizes he's different from his prior self in some way, even if he's still a tyrant - maybe wishing to release Goku and Vegeta because he wants the game to continue. Cooler makes some wish, reveals some mcguffin or so on, becomes a threat and is defeated by everyone. Frieza frames this as he always does - a show that he alone is right, and everyone parts ways with new goals of strength. He doesn't change drastically because they know how useful he is for marketing and narrative design. I *hope* we don't get an arc like this though, as it's really on the nose, but I'm also making a general guess based on how the series is generally written in the Super era. I don't think he'll ever stop being a wrestling heel, though, no matter how "good" he becomes comparatively.
I like this train of thought. With Frieza being introduced to Gogeta in super broly, we saw him witness that the path to true strength lies not in solitude, but in solidarity; that he will need someone's help for more power, just as Goku and Vegeta do utilizing fusion.
@NeoNess725 He even got a taste of this when Goku and himself were up against Jiren, an opponent that got that far on his own. It shows Freeza that he can reach a high peak alone, but someone to push against can lead to a much higher peak
I really wish things do not turn out the way you describe, because it sort of is... a pet peeve of mine I guess ? There's this thing I've noticed in fiction of late, I don't know if it's a trope or anything but let's call it "introducing a new MORE BADDER bad guy so the audience realizes that the previous bad guy at least wasn't that bad" I've seen that thing happening when the audience really likes a bad guy but the writer, affected by this reception, tries real hard to garner some kind of sympathy for them The one example that pops in my directly when writing this Itachi Uchiwa. Like come on, he was supposed to be an antagonist from the beginning to the end. It's juste that a lot of people liked him and Kishimito has this weird ass boner for Sasuke and Itachi
Damn Mark. That intro sequence alone brought me back to the first time I read the ending of the Granola Arc, or as I like to call it "Strongest in the Universe Saga" and all the hype for the future that came with it. Huge props to the editors!!
I think that Black Frieza is the chance to really reexamine Dragon Ball tropes. From the way he’s set up his growth, Frieza seems to have future-proofed the power scale. He’s seen Goku and Vegeta’s strongest forms, their strongest fusions, their strongest techniques- and he’s confident he can handle any of it with his new strength. I’d love it if, for once, there genuinely is nothing the main characters can do to outdo him through sheer power, and that their victory must be achieved by other means. That the main cast is forced to admit that they’ve hit their ceiling, that no matter how much training they do, they can’t compare. Dragon Ball stories are often criticized for being flat bouts of one-upsmanship, and while it isn’t entirely true, it isn’t entirely untrue either. Playing with that idea, and making one side of the conflict impossible to one-up is so potent, especially for a series so centered on it as a narrative tool.
I love the progression throughout the manga. How subtly but surely the Saiyans deviate away from the reliance on transformations and powerups to focus on controlling their ki and mastering techniques to maximize their innate potential. Without the concept of God ki, they wouldn’t have been able to get that far ahead too, which is cool. Considering it took Goku seven years to reach SSJ3 (while dead), one could only imagine how much longer it would take him to get to a higher level whilst alive post-Boo arc w/o god ki
@@_syxczc he slaughtered the crowd at the world martial arts tournaments and tried to execute Broly. Being a simp for Bulma isn’t a change, he is trash.
I like your theories. I'd love the idea that, similar to yours, it's a Frieza (after he has killed Beerus) vs Saiyans final battle...at one point, after seemingly constant Frieza dominance, Goku (maybe via an opening given by an act of Vegeta) has a chance for a kill shot...doesn't take it, much to Vegeta's dismay. Frieza regains the upper hand, and the battle ends with him victorious, and able to deliver the killing blow....but he doesn't do it. He acts characteristically disinterested and maintains it's a one time mercy, and next time will be different, but, Frieza spares them because in his own way, while he hates them, he's come to be defined by them and even begrudgingly respects them, perhaps needs them. So while he's resolved to remain true to whom he is, we see there's a glimmer of hope, so while the series "ends" fr the final time, the threat of another challenge of the series best villain is still out there, but, the theme of Goku causing redemption of even those beyond redemption is hinted at.
Frieza being a destroyer god would actually be awesome, and Vegeta having to learn from HIM in place of Beerus would be incredible. I don't think anything close to that will happen though, the writing for DB now honestly seems too linear and standard,
i think what a lot of people are forgetting is where the manga left us before Toriamas passing. Goku and Vegeta are on earth, without Beerus/Whis/Broly, and have said that they are going to start taking a more active role in training Goten/Trunks, as well as Goku wanting to spend more time with pan. we're finally at the end of the original time gap, where the 28th martial arts tournament is just about to be under way. I bring this up, because I think this next arc is going to feature Uub, and I believe he will be the one the oracle fish prophesied to appear.
Fundamentally, Goku vs Freezer has always been about the true meaning of being the strongest and what that implies. Freezer used to be the strongest by being born an absolute mutant in regards to strength, he defined his entire identity around it, the rightfoul emperor of the universe, so when that position was threatened by the legend of the super saiyan, he didn't train to be more powerful but killed all saiyans. Goku is the antithesis to Freezer in that sense, since his first tournament he learned that being strong isn't about dominance but constantly straiving for more, to see the faces of those above himself and challenging them, forcing all of them to become better. This is where super comes in and forces Freezer to become stronger if he wishes his title back, he's forced into this 'game' and what his character is about now comes to how he learns to play, patience and not dominating others but giving them mercy so that they come back and challenge him, making him stronger. The synthesis to this entire conflict resides on what is the new mentally of Freezer. Is he closer to Goku by accepting his definition of the strongest? or is he using this method to surprass all menaces, even the legendary super saiyan encarnated, and stand up as the strongest by dominance once more? If he goes for the last one, what needs to be done? kill him again in the same situation as namek or something else? what does that say about our characters?
I think they're waiting for Daima to at least start airing. We know Toriyama wanted to use the Daima characters and settings in future, so I suppose while Toyotaro figures things out Daima will be able to serve as more DB content. I hope they don't end it with Black Freeza, there is still so much interesting stuff to explore in DBS.
I really like this theory and hope it comes to fruition in some way. I never really gave it that much thought but you're right about Freeza, i remember the scene he told Goku while in that cocoon he had mentally simulated tons of battles, so he had the strength of golden Freeza with the mental training of countless battles in his head with arguably the greatest fighter in the universe (Goku). His evolution has been more subtle than Vegeta's, but you really highlighted the journey.
It would be cool that if that moment you spoke of at the end comes to pass between frieza, goku, vegeta and Broly, that one, gohan and piccolo are also there, two, that all of them together (vegeta, goku, gohan, piccolo, etc) are losing and about to be killed by Frieza, that he is then intercepted by a destructo disc that no one saw coming, Frieza being to distracted with his victory basically being at hand, and it ends up being thrown by Krillin. His last act of defiance
yeah Toyo's run is just building up hype and not living up to it Frieza's been hyped up for almost a decade now. I don't see them do something interesting with it. He'll just be another hurdle for the saiyans and die for the 4th time
@@Taima I mean that is true but that goes for other characters that were letdowns too Moro did a lot of cool shit and then ultimately kinds fell flat, for example
I love the way freeze is in the broly movie, he has figured goku out a bit and is able to come up with a plan that could kill goku and that be great, but he is not so blinded by revenge to get himself killed again. He knows he is free to go mess with goku like a hobbie and Goku will jest welcome it, it’s safe and maybe fun for him and it so great fun for us. I do hope we see what next for freeze
Frieza being Dragon Ball’s final villain would be amazing. He is the reason that Gokus story happened while wiping out the saiyans, and being the reason super saiyan happened. Dragon Ball characters tend to have character development where people like Piccolo or Vegeta turn good. But Frieza has had his own character development as a villain and he would be perfect for being the Final Boss in the Dragon Ball Franchise.
God I miss Chris Ayres as Freeza…No shade at Damian Mills, he sounds close to Chris. But there was just this regal sound Chris gave Freeza that sounded different from Ryūsei Nakao, but equally matched his tone in English. It was great to hear him again. RiP, Lord Chris Ayres
It would be really awesome if things played out somewhat along the lines of the prediction in this video. If not, I hope for some development that has just as much care and honor for the story so far as this had. Props to you on always being so considerate of the narrative of this series!
I agree with a lot in this video, but I think it side steps one of the core foundations of Frieza's story, the catalyst for Goku's, and what is arguably his biggest failure. It's not just his pride and fury from his failure's in the Namek Saga, though that's obviously an important piece of his story, it stems back to following Beerus' orders, and destroying the Saiyan's based on their potential, and continued disregard for authority. Throughout the entirety of Super, we've seen the writing on the wall that this is something that's having a lot of focus placed onto. Frieza's return, his surprise at the growth of Vegeta, his defeat and failure, his recruitment, new disdain for the GoD's, his interest in greater power to usurp Zeno, his new maturity and ability to now work with the Saiyan's towards a greater goal, the continued whispers of the oracle fish, each Saiyan's unique evolution, the call backs to Bardock, Frieza specifically showing off his new form to the two who are most likely to try and surpass him, and how he seems to be more open to recruiting more and more people, to the point of showing mercy to the remaining Heeter's. He says he knows everything in the universe. That means he specifically knows that the Saiyan's are growing, and evolving, each in their own way. This is a Frieza who's strangely willing to let that happen, for a specific purpose. Maybe it's love for the game, or maybe it's recognition, that he may be able to beat Goku and Vegeta, but that there's always a bigger threat, something that Goku learned, and now Frieza's learning, and accepting, post his growth in the ToP. It was a running theory and mostly joke that the Angel's are bad guys, and I don't quite think that, but I do think we're position for Frieza to attempt something grander against them, and he knows now that he needs the Saiyan's, either figuratively, to push him to greater heights, or literally. He's seen with his own eyes that Goku and Vegeta will make leaps and bounds, that Gohan, and Trunks, will go beyond even that given time, that Broly is a mutant like no other, and that as a whole the Saiyan's will continue to evolve, yet this tyrant is not only letting it happen, but is actively the catalyst for so many of these events, and he's willing to continue doing so. There's no grander goal for Frieza any more, he has control over the scraps of the universe, he's stronger than the Saiyan's as a whole, and is theoretically entering the realm of the highest GoD's, far beyond Jiren, and scraping Beerus' domain. It's in his best interest to grow, sure, but how he's doing it is peculiar. There's also weirdly specific moments too, post revival of Frieza after the ToP, suspiciously that Moro's seal only breaks after said point, that Cranberry, a "former" Frieza soldier, accompanies him, and had a second wish that we never got to see, likely one that would be much different from his final wish to escape. That we've seen that Seven-Three is "alive", and was with the Heeters, the remnants of whom accompany Frieza. An interesting point you bring up is that Frieza may be using Zuno, and there's more to that than even you've said here. The Heeters, the two that Frieza actively hires back at the end of the Granolah arc, have visited Zuno, which may even be how Frieza knew of the events happening on Planet Cereal, lending to your theory there even more. Frieza has a lot of large pieces in place now, and I think we're going to see the straw that breaks the camels back, as Beerus has been suspiciously irrelevant in the story for some time now, and has shown a growing disdain for the antics of the Saiyan's throughout the whole manga. Then again, it's all just theories, and you are absolutely the expert, but I do think Frieza will eventually be the next destroyer adjacent, but that it won't be a role that's handed down willingly, but after grander manipulation by the tyrant, and an attempt at seizing more than just one universe, and eventually Zeno's throne itself. Great video all in all Mark, I love the discussion of the future of Dragon Ball, and would love to see more character break downs like this, since you genuinely know the theme's of the series from a story telling perspective, and you're single handedly keeping conversation about the series beyond just the games and prequel stories alive. I would love to see more like this in the future, even just breaking down each character and what they mean thematically to the series as a whole is so interesting, and educates a fan base who may not fully recognize what the series is trying to tell them, and hopefully I'll learn even more about Toriyama's genious, and storytelling as a whole, through you.
I like your ideas here. I only have this to add. We don't really know much about Frieza's people, his race, or the planet he came from. I think there's a lot of room there to explore. Maybe that was part of Toriyama's plan. We may never know but it's fun to speculate and with a character as deep and dynamic as Frieza, it's certain to be a story for the ages and a fitting conclusion to the last official arc of Dragon Ball by its creator.
Even when Goku was "dumb," it was so dramatically overblown it was fucking ridiculous. Personally the only thing in recent history that they had Goku do that made me mad was in Super Hero when he was mocking and giving Vegeta shit for meditating. How in the fuck could Goku possibly forget about meditation? He's done it a bunch of times for decades and yet they did it anyway. I'll never get over that particular instance lol.
@@ThatGuy-en2nn I think he is saying that goku is no longer dumb at the end of super compared to the start of super (tho he still wrong goku is still stupid as hell at the end)
Like you, I also love to predict what may happen next in a story. Although we should all remember to not make our predictions our expectations. We, as fans, can often fall into the trap of "Well if the story doesn't happen like how I want it to happen...then I'll reject it." It happens far too often and we should make sure our expectations are left at the door as we read what may be the final Super arc. That being said...here are my predictions for the ending. Frieza's transformation from where he started in Namek to where we find him currently in Super has been a drastic change and one I am loving to see develop. One thing I have taken away from Frieza recently is that he's enjoying himself. I think Frieza has found a love for fighting through his experiences in the Tournament of Power. I think, for better or for worse, he's becoming more and more like Goku. Frieza could have easily killed Goku and Vegeta and easily have taken over the universe. Beerus and Weiss don't interfere in these matters so...why didn't Frieza pull the trigger? Well...I think it's because of 2 reasons. I think a part of Frieza doesn't want the fight to end. I think he's enjoying himself far too much to simply kill the saiyans there. Also, I did look at that scene where Black Frieza shows mercy as a mirror to that scene in Z where Goku offered mercy to Frieza. Frieza wants Goku to get stronger, he wants to face them at their fullest potential, the same way Goku humiliated Frieza back on Namek. Frieza wants Goku to train, to become his strongest, and then beat him. That's the only way Frieza can be satisfied with a victory. Especially after Super Broly, where Frieza learns that Gogeta exists. Frieza believed that he had seen the peak of Goku's power but as it turns out, through fusion there's another barrier he had to push through. Black Frieza destroyed Goku and Vegeta in a single attack, the last time we saw power like that was when Beerus defeated Goku in one attack in Battle of Gods. I think Frieza purposely trained himself to be stronger than Fusion. Now...all that being said...how do I believe the story will end? I do believe Frieza stays around, I believe Frieza will win and we'll see a very similar scene where Goku is defeated and Frieza stands over him. Except this time Frieza gives Goku his energy. I do love the idea that Frieza becomes the next destroyer God, I believe it is fitting for the character and it does make sense. Both Beerus and Weiss have talked about a successor and Frieza fits that bill exceptionally well. I do believe the series ends with Frieza training with Weiss to become the next God of Destruction but I also believe it ends on a happier note. Frieza wins and Goku is sparred. Goku knows there's a long path ahead of him if he ever wants to surpass Frieza with his own power. That being said...I think the series ends where Z ended. Goku, wise and strong, is ready to pass on what he's learned to the next generation. Gohan is as strong as he is, Goten and Trunks have much potential, Pan is on her way to becoming strong...and now Uub, the reincarnation of Buu he wished for years ago has appeared. Goku knows, especially now, that he won't be enough to protect the universe. But the next generation has already showed that their potential is far stronger than his has ever been and if taught well...they'll become stronger than he could be. I think it would be very emotional if Super ends slightly after Z and Goku teaches Uub the Turtle Hermit Way. To keep moving, to keep working, to eat plenty...and to rest. There will always be more adventures to be had, Dragon Ball has always been about the passage of time. We've watched Goku from his childhood to his adulthood. We've watched him grow and mature and it's time for him to take the role of his Masters before him.
My personal idea is to have Freeza on a mission to be the emperor of all the universes. This way you bring back characters from the Tournament of Power, explore new locations, and have a clear example of what makes Freeza ghe biggest threat beyond just "this guy's stronger than the last" ehich it'll also be.
Thing is the top kinda screwed with that since It already showed the supposed strongest of each verse se besides a more original db/gt/daima kinda adventure what is there to explore
@@agssilv5919 I mean something like Universe 10 seemed to take whatever fighters they could get. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say there were people stronger they couldn't find. If that wasn't the case then characters like Moro and Granola wouldn't matter.
This is almost too perfect. It provides a clean ending point for Super and recontextualizes all of it into a clear arc, tying in many of the recurring elements in a way that makes them feel purposeful.
DAMN, the way you edit your videos is so simple yet so effective. This Freeza is astronomically stronger than everyone and, most importantly, extremely poised. It's scary lmao! I think the narrative and powerups in Super Hero, especially the manga are meant to be against the grain to set a mark of a new Era in Dragon Ball. It's too bad the new era included Toriyama not being here with us, but his spirit shall live on with Toyotaro!

Okay, but like, until the legal battle over who owns Dragon Ball is settled, then nothing in the Manga will be in an anime or game, so it might not be relevant.
@@leosnyder5264 Okay, aaand? The manga is, at several points, the superior version of Dragon Ball Super, and the fact that it’s treated like a pig locked in a warehouse while the family dog (movies and anime) get all the attention is just depressing and infuriates me. ANIMATE THE MANGA GODDAMMIT!
id love to see frieza smile, genuinely smiles as he dies. "like a warrior ascending to Valhalla, Frieza smiled. His body had given, his last punch had been thrown and bruises had tarred his visage black and yet as he fell, Frieza smiled. Not out of cunning or deceit, Frieza, for the first time in his life, felt happy. He wasn't a tyrant, a warlord or an emperor , but another warrior who fought until his end" Type death. like i just think thtd wrap his entire arc, from his first appearance in the manga, up real nice. Imo.
Then he remembers that he will have to see those fairies again Jokes aside, such a scene would be fantastic. Also if he just dies and isn’t erased, maybe it’s possible that his soul might finally be successfully cleansed and he ends up being reincarnated like Buu. Tho one thing I will say is that I could see it being controversial if they went down this route as many fans see Freeza as that one villain who will never truly be ‘redeemed’. Having him die in this manner may ‘ruin’ him in the eyes of some.
@@Senwa_Zenno completely fair. Im currently watching through dbs again and am mid TOP and im really liking friezas characterisation. He has more depth in this arc than ever before so ive probably written this with some recency bias towards frieza dying in a more honourable way rather than what he probably deserves
@@prxnce6588 Personally while I am absolutely happy Freeza is back as a recurring villain, and not a joke like all his post namek pre super appearance, I am quite conflicted with the idea of him being ‘redeemed’ in any way. As Mark explained in his episode of Freeza in anatomy of anime, Freeza is a ‘Flat Negetaive character arc’ and should not be truly able to be influenced to good. Not to mention Freeza could be seen as a pure example to Goku generous nature that not everyone can truly be redeemed. However Freeza has shown to have changed a lot since Namek, and it is done in a very good manner. So perhaps they could pull it off which wouldn’t be the first time. I originally did not like the idea of evil Goku, then Goku Black/Zamasu happened and now he stands alongside Freeza as my favorite villain.

Black freiza arc will be legendary. Hopefully it starts with him defeating a god of destruction to show his power or people like Jiren level before we get to the true climax. Probably ui Goku and ultra ego Vegeta fusion to be a true conclusion
Frieza’s character Arc from Z to Super is phenomenal for a Villian; a True Evil Villain that will never be redeemed but learned humility and patience from his opposite. Really hope the next arcs don’t ruin it-
I hope when we get there. It's not a one on one but everyone from start of super to end concluding against freiza and actually being or use in the battle compared to namek Goku Vegeta Gohan piccolo and add ons like Broly to make it a truly legendary ending to super ending where it basically began the super Saiyan and namek stories with the tyrant finally meeting his end
All I want is for Vegeta and Frieza to have one last conversation along the lines of... F: "And who do you think you are to challenge my power?" V: "You already know who I am, Frieza. I am Vegeta, a sayain from Earth...and I've travelled all this way just to beat you."
Idk what it is but something about black frieza feels godly Its the simple and effective design and the aura he has Its like he has achieved a form of inner peace .u can feel it in his dialogue and how he carried himself, detached from revenge and all worldly needs.he is aiming for the higher realms of the gods
Idk, I don't really like the way the white on his torso looks. As overdone as new forms are and everyone rolling their eyes whenever one is suggested even though it's almost always the dopest shit - I'm hoping Frieza gets one more black and gold form, kinda like his own super saiyan kaioken type thing. That would look sweet.
Man... seeing this and hearing these voice lines... We lost not just Toriyama, but also Chris Ayers. He was a fantastic Freeza. A great voice actor. And a good friend. I miss you Chris. RIP
In my head, the end of his arc would be him fighting all the Z Fighters. He beats them. But he chooses not to kill. Only to reveal he no longer wants to kill Goku and Vegeta. He won’t be a good guy or an ally, but an ever present challenge. Maybe even the GoD of U7. He’s come to accept that lifes no fun without the challenge. He’d overcome his insecurity and grow.
"Black Freeza" ....Now I know I'm from Texas....but I'm pretty sure I went to school with a kid who drew that a lot LOL He also like Blackarot too so he wasn't just drawing that.
@Segadud I don't remember it was like 2nd or 3rd grade and I'm now reaching the end of my life (30) so it's been a long time. I just remember Freeza with dreads that kind of looked sick and Goku with long corn rows who looked like a buffed up Riley from the Boondocks.
“That day on Namek, our fight had no winners. We both got better and worse from the aftermath of that day. Perhaps the only way we could win was if we ended up as they thought”
Now i want a video like this for Vegeta, his journey from dark egocentric villain to everyday dad being a key player to defend earth is a delicacy to me 😊
While the idea of Freeza being offered the position of Destroyer sounds within positivity it lacks one fundamental trait of Feeza's personality: "the sense of being bound". Freeza was always the top dog and when he was humbled-he sought to become stronger just to fail again and again. If he was offered to become a destroyer he would be bound to rules, to Zeno and to the life of a supreme Kai, he would down right turn it down. Freeza, no matter how much he morphs his beliefs and personalities still share the same grandiose personality of wanting to reach the top. IMO, given how Toriyama would write the fall and farewell of a character by any means besides absolute destruction, Freeza would ask Beerus to absolutely destroy him with Hakai so he can lay to rest and give Goku, Vegeta, Broly and also Beerus (the god he once feared) the raspberry with his tongue out in full.
I love this idea a lot. For a slight addition, instead of him asking Beerus to do it for him, you could have Freeza accept the position, only to immediately use his newfound powers on himself, so that he got to go out on his own terms.
Frieza secretly loves the love-hate relationship between him, Goku, and Vegeta. It gives him a sense of accomplishment, feeding his ego and validating his power. He needs someone to push his limit.
Hard to believe people thought he beat gas w/o transforming first when this dropped 0:23 I bet Frieza didn't train to accommodate for the ki drain again
@@commonviewer2488 didn't think about it that way. Thought more like the way Vegeta/Goku used blue. Last minute change for burst of strength not because it was cheaper than running it for the fight.

new manga freeza quickly became my favourite villain in the series, i never really liked him before because of how childish he always seemed, but hes maturing so well.
Freeza becoming the next god of destruction would be a wicked direction. His new self, with patience and strategy, no longer a tyrant real estate manager, given a duty that he enjoys but won't abuse. That would be a very cool direction for him
I guess I'm the only one who thought Frieza saw the Omni Kings are the real threat to his rule and so went to train to overthrow them. Why else would he rise to such power levels and seek to keep Goku and Vegeta alive? He needs help taking the Omni Kings out.
While it’s possible, I still doubt it as I think even Freeza knows that convincing Goku and Vegeta is nigh impossible for him. Also while I could see overthrowing Zeno as a long term goal for him, I think he would have to at least aim to get rid of Beerus first. Additionally I think it’s hard to say if Freeza can truly surpass Zeno via regular training. Zeno is not a traditional fighter like him or even the other Gods and angels. I doubt Hakai would work either as if it could, the Gods of destruction would not be afraid of him.
@@Senwa_Zenno It's Dragon Ball, EVERYTHING is a matter of powerlevel. Even Hakai has been shown to not work if the enemy is strong enough, or have you forgotten that? Hakai only works against strong opponents if the attacker is stronger. It's not just Hakai either, literally every type of power, from mind control (Babidi vs Vegeta), to magic (Candy Vegito vs Buuhan), to time manipulation (Hit vs Goku/Jiren), to reality alteration (Dragon Balls not being able to harm anyone stronger than their creator). Zeno is not a fighter because he's too strong to fight anyone, and he also never learned to fight because of that same reason. If a hypothetical person could be as strong or stronger than Zeno (powerlevel wise), then obviously Zeno wouldn't be able to just delete them.
@@TheAsj97 True, however there have been some exceptions to this status quo. Guldo’s time stop Ginyu’s body swap Zamasu’s immortality Buu’s absorption Of course I’m not saying that Freeza definitely can’t surpass Zeno via training.

Didn't Gohan almost kill her twice?
The way Freeza looked and reacted to Zeno during the tournament of power , says a lot .

I am curious to wonder if Freeza knows the truth about Future Trunks.

More like post namek arc Saiyan mindset
don't need to be a saiyan to be more active in life. this is more like he's getting motivated to really try out shinning everyone.

Really well written video, man! You treat my childhood IP honourably

@@mr702s It is Golden Freeza's theme from the Universe Survival Arc I believe.
My favorite too. And he’s funny
Saying Frieza is your favorite DB villain is a lot like having T-Rex as your favorite dinosaur. It may not be original, but only because it's so obviously correct.
Demon King Piccolo was a good villain too.
Imagine if they redesign him like they did with Broly
I would die of peak fiction if we got that
That was my prediction in 2018 too
Guessing here: Freiza's arc "lately" seems to be that he's identified himself not as a destined lord of everyone, but a warrior who can *prove* he's better than you.
Plague i love you
I like this train of thought.
This sounds like Unrealent Top 5 strongest in the multiverse arc he did
I really wish things do not turn out the way you describe, because it sort of is... a pet peeve of mine I guess ? There's this thing I've noticed in fiction of late, I don't know if it's a trope or anything but let's call it "introducing a new MORE BADDER bad guy so the audience realizes that the previous bad guy at least wasn't that bad"
I've seen that thing happening when the audience really likes a bad guy but the writer, affected by this reception, tries real hard to garner some kind of sympathy for them
The one example that pops in my directly when writing this Itachi Uchiwa.
My dude, great video essay with soo many points I hadnt considered!
Well if we take GT into account, it would take him 10 years after End of Z to start GT (iirc), which gets him to SS4, which is still weaker than SSG.

That's an interesting prediction. I personally like the Freeza one in the video a bit more, but making the prophesied one Uub would be great as well!
Uub will be fodder now
That would make sense, but Uub is kinda boring as a character.
Reinvolving the prophecy is a fantastic idea actually, whether it’s Uub or Frieza. It’s nice to have some bat and switch potential
Uub has nothing interesting to offer. I never understood why people ride him so hard when Goku's son Gohan is more interesting as a character
I really hope the hiatus ends soon bro
I think they're waiting for Daima to at least start airing. We know Toriyama wanted to use the Daima characters and settings in future, so I suppose while Toyotaro figures things out Daima will be able to serve as more DB content.

He knows he is free to go mess with goku like a hobbie and Goku will jest welcome it, it’s safe and maybe fun for him and it so great fun for us. I do hope we see what next for freeze
I LOVE THIS THEORY !! Mark! You know storytelling!! Thank you
Frieza being Dragon Ball’s final villain would be amazing.
Plus he was originally supposed to be the final villain of Dragon Ball
The Totally Not Mark OSTs go crazy, doesn't get enough appreciation
I like your ideas here. I only have this to add. We don't really know much about Frieza's people, his race, or the planet he came from. I think there's a lot of room there to explore. Maybe that was part of Toriyama's plan. We may never know but it's fun to speculate and with a character as deep and dynamic as Frieza, it's certain to be a story for the ages and a fitting conclusion to the last official arc of Dragon Ball by its creator.
Goku is not dumb anymore, and the characters feel like they're growing for the first time in a long time.

I hope when we get there. It's not a one on one but everyone from start of super to end concluding against freiza and actually being or use in the battle compared to namek
Goku Vegeta Gohan piccolo and add ons like Broly to make it a truly legendary ending to super ending where it basically began the super Saiyan and namek stories with the tyrant finally meeting his end
All I want is for Vegeta and Frieza to have one last conversation along the lines of...
F: "And who do you think you are to challenge my power?"
V: "You already know who I am, Frieza. I am Vegeta, a sayain from Earth...and I've travelled all this way just to beat you."
I forgot how hard TNM's intros go (kudos to editor-chan). Great to come back to one of Mark's vids after taking a few year break.
Idk what it is but something about black frieza feels godly
Its the simple and effective design and the aura he has
Its like he has achieved a form of inner peace .u can feel it in his dialogue and how he carried himself, detached from revenge and all worldly needs.he is aiming for the higher realms of the gods
Crazy what training can do when you spent your whole life thinking you were the best and got bested multiple times
Honestly the black form just fits him much better

Frieza asking Zono how to make friends is going to be jaw dropping if it happens
That thumbnail is INSANE!?

....Now I know I'm from Texas....but I'm pretty sure I went to school with a kid who drew that a lot LOL
He also like Blackarot too so he wasn't just drawing that.
did he draw black vegeta too?
@@Segadud No, he drew Blackstar
@@Segadud you mean Nigeta
@Segadud I don't remember it was like 2nd or 3rd grade and I'm now reaching the end of my life (30) so it's been a long time. I just remember Freeza with dreads that kind of looked sick and Goku with long corn rows who looked like a buffed up Riley from the Boondocks.

New Freeza is GOATED. it sucks that Toriyama is no longer with us to see it bare fruit
Frieza secretly loves the love-hate relationship between him, Goku, and Vegeta. It gives him a sense of accomplishment, feeding his ego and validating his power. He needs someone to push his limit.
Man, Frieza truly is a menacing opponent. Calm and calculative, you can't predict what he'll do next
Hard to believe people thought he beat gas w/o transforming first when this dropped

I bet Frieza didn't train to accommodate for the ki drain again
8:25 Which is why he used it in short bursts
For a decade of training? That'd be ludicrous
@@commonviewer2488 didn't think about it that way. Thought more like the way Vegeta/Goku used blue. Last minute change for burst of strength not because it was cheaper than running it for the fight.
L theory he trained 10 years he def mastered the black form.
@@GoldWristX Frieza ALWAYS underestimated his ki drain. It's inherent to his character thus far in his most ego moments. L opinion
I really hope Frieza doesn't get his mitts on Broly again. I've really enjoyed seeing Big B's time with Goku and Vegeta and don't wanna see it ruined by Frieza.
It’s gonna be frieza and another villain. Not broly

new manga freeza quickly became my favourite villain in the series, i never really liked him before because of how childish he always seemed, but hes maturing so well.
Freeza becoming the next god of destruction would be a wicked direction. His new self, with patience and strategy, no longer a tyrant real estate manager, given a duty that he enjoys but won't abuse. That would be a very cool direction for him
I think the most interesting black Frieza arc would be Goku and vegeta being apart of the frieza force for a couple weeks/months with Broly
I guess I'm the only one who thought Frieza saw the Omni Kings are the real threat to his rule and so went to train to overthrow them. Why else would he rise to such power levels and seek to keep Goku and Vegeta alive? He needs help taking the Omni Kings out.
I don't think you can just punch Zeno to death, there's nothing Frieza can do about them.
@@guyonyoutube501 Frieza can do more than punch. Hakai is on the table.
@@TheAsj97
True, however there have been some exceptions to this status quo.
Guldo’s time stop
Ginyu’s body swap
Zamasu’s immortality
Buu’s absorption
Of course I’m not saying that Freeza definitely can’t surpass Zeno via training.
(Whether he can or can’t has not been confirmed yet)
However it’s possible that Zeno’s abilities might require more than just training to ‘overcome’.
I wanna believe that Dragon Ball Super is capable of a profound story, but almost every other arc has proven otherwise.
Often times, profundity runs countercurrent to selling merchandise.
Facts. But also Toriyama is out of the picture now (RIP), so Toyo has the freedom to actually elevate the story from what it has been. Time will tell
@@DigitalLogos I don't know if that is good or bad. Taking a simple story and suddenly making it complex can be jarring and messy
@@DigitalLogos what
You're asking the wrong anime/manga to be profund. In Dragon Ball, less is more.
The anticipation is so crazy of what’s to come next. Black Frieza is the definition of aura.
One of my favorite things about Dragonball has always been its focus on redemption.
I would really like to see the story behind his training. Being alone in a time chamber gave him patience
