I've been wanting to switch from a PC to a tablet for my everyday use and the main thing holding me back was the ability to edit videos. I saw on your video that you edit your videos on a tablet so now I really have no excuse! What app do you use?
My friend good to see this review. I have now subscribed to your channel and hope to see many more videos! One important point you forgot to emphasize is that the older unit has a 1.5-year-old battery while the new unit has a brand new battery. The fact that your older unit is continuing to work so well shows the inherent quality of the product. Cheers.
First time I have seen your channel and I honestly thought you did a really good job of showing some real world experience and not giving just what seems like the "standard" information that most channels go though. I would love to see the video between the two note programs. Thank you
Amazed by the content packed within the 15 mins video, covering the niche differences between S8 ultra and S9 ultra, i have pre-ordered the S9 ultra and can't wait to get my hands on. Watching this video made me feel that i've made the right choice to go with the purchase. Also, it would help if you can assist with 'non-samsung' key board options, not sure if we have many at the moment!. Anyways, thanks for this video. Loved it!
Thank you for helping me justify my purchase lol. A big part of it for me was the great trade in deal. I bought my s8 ultra on the 2nd hand market, so the upgrade just made sense. I also noticed that I wasn't using the track pad on the full size keyboard and was constantly taking it off bc of the size. The slim keyboard feels nice, takes less space, and is lappable. I just wish they included a back light. The other thing is the waterproof and dust resistance - that alone is worth it to me. While I am pretty careful, kids are less careful lol. Thanks for the video breakdown, well done.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, I had a Samsung View which is much larger than the S8 Ultra and I use it for watching video, movies and I do like this monster size tablet when I just want portability with a handle although it took me awhile to find a padded case that was big enough to take the Samsung View 18.4 " tablet.
The power drawn from the S8 keyboard is higher than the S9, yes, but it't less than you think while connected to their respective tablets. The real drawn power is measured in watts, which means (volt * amp). The S8 keyboard is (3.3V * 0.8A) = 2.64W, while the S9 keyboard is (5V * 0.5A) = 2.5W Be careful while connecting S8 keyboard to the S9 Ultra, because it'll expect 3.3V but it'll get 5 volt which means the S8 keyboard voltage regulator will suffer and might burn out.
I got my S9+ over a week ago and had the S8+ here side by side. The S9+ is noticably better in every way. I also had an S8 Ultra last year and also have an iPad Air M1. The S9 Series runs smoother, the VRR makes a huge battery difference when watching youtube, since the display now runs at 60Hz while watching, instead of 120Hz which costs a lot of power. The Wifi is better, the sound is clearer, louder and has more bass. The HDR is brighter and the Screen on Time (with 90% youtube Videos) went from 8h on the S8+ which was ok-good, to stunning 11 1/2h pure display on time! I love the S9 Series. The S8 Series was already very good, but damn, they nailed it hard. I cant even imagine what the 10 Series in 2 years will be. If you dont need the Apple Eco System and the M2 Power, these Tablets are right now hands down by far the best on the market. Lets see what the M3 iPad Pro with OLED does. Should be superb as well.
I ran several YT 4K HDR videos to compare the screens and cant say that one stood out to be any brighter. Tried Vivid & Natural options with screen brightness to max.
It's not noticeable indoors, I probably should have used my outdoors example, that is where I noticed it the most. I still CAN notice it indoors, but it probably doesn't come through on camera as much!
I have upgraded from S8 ultra 256 GB to S9 ultra 1TB. And I can feel the difference. Here's what I felt:- 1. Battery - There's a slight increase in battery life. 2. Smoothness : yes definitely I fell it. If u have upgraded from S22 ultra to S23 Ultra , same diff in smoothness. 3. I play HD movies using HW acceleration, in S8 ultra I had to switch to SW coding cause of slow down, haven't seen this in S9. 4. Data Transfer: I don't know why no 1 talking about this , this is really important. I'm getting 350MB to 400MB transfer speeds on OTG USB drive while transferring movies and pics. My USB drive is ssd 🙂 In S8 I was getting 200 to 250MB. 5. Display: Is same when looked at room light, but there's difference when watching Movies in Pitch black with minimum brightness like at 5-6 %. My eyes are a little sensitive so it might be my case only. 6. Storage: That was my biggest reason , plus RAM came as bonus. And I also use 512GB card also. So far I don't think I wasted money as I'm finding it better than S8 ultra, the improvements are small but you will notice.
Excellent video. I have the Tab S8 Ultra 256GB ROM/12 GB RAM. I use it daily. Even after a year the battery is coming up a little short. Storage isn't enough and I'm not a fan of MicroSD due to speed and reliability. I've just ordered the Tab S9 Ultra 1TB ROM/16GB RAM WI-FI model and hope I notice the same improvements you do! I'm keeping the S8 Ultra as Samsung only offer £390 trade-in in the UK. Also I'll use it. Keep up the good work!
Is it possible to use Tab s8 ultra screen protector on the s9 ultra? What about cases, even with different cutouts, is still possible to use same cases?
If I wanted a better camera, I'd use a better digital camera but then I wouldn't use a large tablet for photographs so the upgrade factor of the two cameras would barely give me pause to think about it before I ruled that upgrade as a non starter. The color of the tablet is even less of a non starter. The biggest thing that comes to mind is the updates of the software that is ongoing and that is fairly often for the S8 Ultra. As far as the power goes, I cannot remember spending enough hours to make the S8 needing to be charged although most times that require long sessions, plugging in the charger is not a big deal for me. There just appears to be more maybe you might need as opposed to you will need. I really didn't have any issues with less memory, or lag issues watching videos or movies as sometimes it could lag if the server wasn't up to it or there was too much demand on the servers. Can't blame the tablet for the problems that the server gives, If you think the cost warrants the upgrade, then go for it but I really don't have anything coming up short enough for me to warrant the upgrade.

I agree to an extent. People who have an S8 Ultra who might want to upgrade won't have a brand new one out of the box, though. They'll likely have had it for 18 months already, and the battery condition would be similar to mine.
@@techwithbenefits that's a fair point (I wish you had said that in the video; I'm one of those people with an old s8 Ultra). But I'm also thinking about people looking to save money by buying last year's model. So maybe compare against new readings and old readings for next year?
Trade-in's are not great this year... Two years ago I got the 8GB RAM/256GB SSD Tab S7 Plus in Mystic Navy it was $356 from Samsung with a Tab S4 Trade-In I got off ebay for $175, they gave me $400 trade-in credit, so my total cost from Samsung for the Tab S7 Plus was $531. I had zero intention of upgrading. Samsung then offered me more than I paid for the S7+ in trade, for a 16GB/512GB Ultra. They also gave me $200 credit towards accesories. It was kinda of a no-brainer, plus the 4-year OS updates and 5-years of security updates for $517.59. I absolutely love the Ultra, and have no intention of upgrading, especially since Samsung will only give me $650 for the trade-in of my Ultra and the total cost will be $750 for the 16GB/1TB version... Maybe next time, Sammy...
@techwithbenefits You can never have enough of those. Display is the most important aspect to get this tablet. As a video file (mkv, mp4, etc. not the video apps like Netflix, etc.)playback fan, I wish there's a good brightness jump over S8 Ultra both in SDR and HDR.

@@techwithbenefits But when compared both side by side, closely look that the colors of the tab s8 ulta display is sharper than the tab s9 ultra. Tab s9 ultra display is somewhat pale. Check and tell me, please. (Don't know whether my tab s9 ultra has a manufacture issue)
Most are not gonna believe this. But last year I bought the Tab S-8 ultra, and I haven't even taken it out of the box. I've NEVER even powered it on yet. Haven't really had time, as my work schedule is crazy. Now almost a year have gone by, and I have a new/old tablet sitting here in its box unopened. So the answer for me is a big NO. I will not upgrade, not to mention Samsung only offers $650 trade in for a tablet I paid $1,400. I have the 512gb 16mb ram model. It's the maxed out one. I've also bought accessories that I haven't opened as well. So I'm about $1,800 spent all together. I don't see any need for the water protection feature. And the extra money for that. The ONLY reason that I was thinking about the S9 is because it comes in a 1TB model. That's it.
UNFORTUNATELY, since the pre-order period is over...this video and its opinions are far less valuable. I'm not sure I would ever spend Tab s9 Ultra retail prices without the severe pre-order discounts...
The product is still on sale 😅 just because pre-order period is over doesn't mean it just vanishes. Samsung will Samsung and have sales on it in due time also
I don't agree with you. It's practically the same device. The new device just got a new a chip. My tab s8 ultra does the same thing the new tab does. Sweet video tho. 👍✌️

@Solidariity Absolutely ... apart from abit better battery life the day to day usage is the same.
@@lukemorris9066 Samsung is now offering $800 for S8U trade in towards S9U. Was thinking about it
Would love a video on Samsung Notes v/s Good Notes for S9U.
Can you use the S9 to film these vids instead of a phone??
Hmmm. Maybe lol but it's not designed for that as a full time solution
Thanks for the comparison. Very interesting, but I will stay with my S8. Still very happy with it. Waiting for S10.
Yeah S8 is a great tablet still!
Is the display of the tab s8 ultra better than the display of tab s9 ultra?
Nah. Tab S9 Ultra is brighter and has a dynamic refresh rate.
Great, deep comparison
Thank you 🙏
Most are not gonna believe this.
That's it.
Maybe now is time to crack open that box and start to use the S8 Ultra!
I hate air gestures lol. They never work for me
Hopefully they will have 5g for the ultra tablet soon in the states 😊
That's so strange they don't have that over there!
I traded in for the new warenty, (I had 128gb) to new model has 512gb, processee speed, for a total of 200 dollars with trade.
This dude says Tab s8 ultra on everything
I feel bad for the S8 after watching this... Lol
Samsung gives 800 dollars trade credit to trade in my S8 Ultra. I think i should go for it.
That's BS that you cant use the same keyboard.
These people.. 🤦🏾♀️ apple converts have been telling you people for years that samsung notes is vastly better.🙄
i just sold my s8 ultra for almost 1000$ and got s9 ultra 512gb 5g for 1200$
I'm really looking forward to your S9 Plus versus S8 Plus and your regular S9 versus S8 videos.
Guys dont upgrade in the same size. I have upgraded from S7+ to S9U and during normal daily use size is the the only difference.
Just got me a brand brew sealed tab s8 ultra for $700
Let's go
I much prefer my s9 ultra.
Samsung will Samsung and have sales on it in due time also
My tab s9 ultra has ware more reddish skin tones compared to my tab S8 ultra which looks unnatural. Is this only me?
Does the s9 ultra display look more sharper than the s8 ultra or is it about the same to you?
@@thetonyroyster270 I got a second s9 ultra and that display is indeed sharper and a touch more colourful. But a small difference.
you will only benefit from this tablet for galaxy AI features from s24 series otherwise tab s8 ultra is just as good, no difference
Boring video,. just talking... add more visuals
Boring comment. Just words, add more intelligence
🤣
very annoying video
Feel better?
I don't agree with you. It's practically the same device. The new device just got a new a chip. My tab s8 ultra does the same thing the new tab does. Sweet video tho. 👍✌️
Your S8 Ultra has a year old battery whereas the S9 Ultra has a brand new one. 🔋🪫
There is a battery health option in the menu that limits charging to 85%. With this enabled my battery is like new even after 2 years.
@@BaSiC47i am using full battery alarm app never goes my s20 ultra charging more than 95% and its 4 yeras old... battery health is very good
That's right, because people who are upgrading will also likely have a battery between 12-18 months
@@BaSiC47Limiting charging to 80% does help prolong battery health, but it doesn’t magically keep it at 100% health. For someone who uses their Galaxy Tab extensively like this TH-camr does, I’d expect most of the difference in battery life to be the condition of the battery in the old slab of glass versus the new one.
