Never thought I would be able to replace mac os and feel satisfied. The s9 ultra (and Fold 5) has completely changed my mind and exceeded all of my expectations of both samsung and andorid

A few years ago I would have never gotten a Samsung tablet, but I recently got the S9 Ultra a week ago and I gotta say, they really stepped up their game. I was contemplating between the iPad Pro and the Ultra whenever I went to Best Buy, but as much as I wanted to like the iPad Pro, something about the Ultra was just so much more appealing. Especially that AMOLED screen, what a masterpiece. Plus the S Pen feels so much better to use than Apple's Pen which feels like I'm holding a branch/stick when I'm writing (IMO).

Not everyone cares about procreate or whatever fancy stuffs ipad might offer Maybe many cares about the display, multitasking and flexibility. And ofcourse, the size.
And just because apple got that good chip, doesn't mean the ultra is weak.
Both are just overkill anyway for majority of the buyers.

@@justinlikesme19 what the actual f are you talking about, it's a screen, and tablets (iPads) have always been more or less entertainment devices, and sometimes a sketching device. I have an iPad, so I'm looking at it in a less biased way, and S9U is a great tablet, just underpowered, but don't get me wrong, 8 Gen 2 is still a superb chip, just more of a phone chip rather than budget desktop performance wise. iPads are great for work, but with that LCD screen, well, even Apple is looking into OLEDs for iPads, so, in short, Samsung is basically ahead of Apple.
Having used both pens, I can say that for me, the S Pen wins every single time when it comes to the writing experience.

@@Somebodythatiusedtoknowwwow, that’s new to me I tested both the s9 and iPad Air 5 and m2 pro all pens had same latency, I chose the s9 for drawing mostly and gaming went for the s9 cuz it has more advantages over the m2 and the m2 and s9 are both really good, their head on head I’d say, but Samsung is a little bit better I must admit that’s why I went for it.

personally, the Apple Pencil feels better, since my and grip handwriting come out better on the thicker pen (I have big hands, someone with small hands might have a different opinion)
Thanks for another great comparison. I'm happily mired in the Apple ecosystem and I sure don't need another tablet, but if I was starting over I think I'd give the Samsung tablet the nod. With that big gorgeous screen and Dex mode I can see this being the only device a person would need in many situations.

As far as Photoshop/Photo Editing goes, one of the GREATEST features of my Tab S8 Ultra that no one talks about is the 'Second Screen' feature. SuperDisplay a $10 app works really great. The Tab S8 Ultra has basically replaced my Wacom Cintiq as my main Photoshop editing device. It's higher resolution, wireless, lighter, portable, and the S-Pen might be even better... Samsung's built-in 'Second Screen' works OK, but it used to work much better than it does now, I don't know what happened, but hopefully they will update it to work as good as SuperDisplay does. Plus, your files stay resident on your workstation and you don't have to copy files back and forth.
I find that SuperDisplay works exactly the same wired or over WiFi. If there's a difference, I don't see any. As you mentioned, it's SO much better than Samsung's Second Screen. It's pretty crazy to me that Samsung definitely knows how much of a superior product SuperDisplay is and they could easily license the technology (like they do Wacom's EMR) or even purchase the company without even batting an eye, instead they ship a vastly inferior piece of software...
Plus, the device is awesome all on its own... Literally blown away by how great it is!
The S-Pen is fantastic and FREE in the box. You don't need to add a paper-like screen protector ($40) in addition to the $130 you'll pay extra for the Apple Pencil...
I'm a 30+ year Professional Graphic Artist. When some say that there aren't Professional Visual Arts apps on android it's just really incorrect, because I use them everyday. Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter, Concepts, Krita are just a few of the apps available on the Google Play store... There are many more... Are there a few apps available on iPad that aren't on the Play store? Yes, of course, but a good carpenter never blames his tools, and with expertise and talent you can do anything and everything on android apps that you can do on iOS apps - NO DOUBT.
If you're already entrenched in the Apple 'eco-system'... Then pay the extra $500 to $1500...

I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite, and honestly the memory expansion give it and all the Galaxy Tab devices a leg up on the iPad. I also have a 64GB iPad Mini 6 (bought that because the 256GB model was not available when I ordered it) and the storage restriction is a pain, plus I don't want to pay more for iCloud.
hopefully samsung can put sd card slot back on their s24 series, i've been using s20U for 3.5 years and looking for flagship with SD card support.

Problem with Ipad is they are using an overpowered chip held back by underpowered software.
Tried to use excel and word on the iPad and it felt really clunky. Plus the keyboard is weird for Arabic users and the letters are not where we are used to them.

Apple is sticking to 4:3 ratio even on larger iPad Pro while Samsung provides more trendy 16:9 aspect ratio. AKOLED screen, Dex for laptop chores. Not everyone wants extraordinary powerful chip to cut and edit videos and to transfer them. Samsung is giving what majority would be satisfied with.

If I’m being honest, I think the 4:3 ratio looks a lot cleaner than the weirdly oblong 16:9 ratio when it comes to the tablet form factor.

4:3 is better for reading.
tbh for tablets a 4:3 ratio is better, as it's not very uncomfortable to hold when holding it vertically (as opposed to 16:9, where the display slightly tips over, personal experience), also s9 ultra's resolution and ppi is lesser

I have both and this is the best unbiased review I've seen so far. Both tablets are fantastic and I couldn't choose between the two so I picked up both. I use the S9 Ultra a lot more. The beautiful big screen is just such an amazing experience, the battery life is impressive for such a big tablet and the keyboard case adds a lot of functionality. I'm not sure what Apple was thinking with the camera placement but I really don't like it. I use the S9 ultra for video conferencing at work and I never use my ipad's camera. When family want to facetime I usually just pick up my iphone instead so I don't look like I'm looking away all the time. LOL

Samsung Notes is a highly underrated note taking app. I tried using other apps, but Samsung Notes does everything I need + more.
I've tested many of them and none is up to Samsung Notes. With a little hacking, someone can run Notes on any Windows-based with seamlessly on-the-fly cloud sync.

Yea, I think Apple would not be able to make enough iPads, if they put MacOS as a Dex like option in it. Considering it's the exact same hardward, outside of greed, I have no idea why they don't.

I feel like, ultimately, most people get a tablet as either a substitute for a TV or laptop. With that being the case, the Tab S9 Ultra is the more ideal, imo.
It has the bigger and better screen (which can be a full stop reason), better aspect ratio, speakers, Dex and camera placement for video calls.
I would assume most people use social media apps on their phones and this is one of the reasons why a lot of developers aren't optimizing apps for tablets. Even for iPads, albeit far more with Android tablets.
Personally, I don't use a tablet as I find them an excess. However, if I do get one, it would have to have the absolute best screen with a decent chip inside.

Does ipad OS allow mutitasking in a way that other modern OS handles multitasking? Or did they add a workaround to their half baked OS? e.g. If the window is not focused, the app won't run or go suspended. Doesn't feel like the apps run in parallel like Linux, Windows, macOS do. Run an app that downloads a huge file, minimize that app while it's downloading, do other two tasks in a split screen. Does the download still running?

Thank you sir, this was incredibly helpful and informative. I love both tablets and already own an iPad Pro 12.9 inch, which I have had for several years. I am drawn to the S9 Ultra because of the larger display size and expandable storage options. The keyboard options for both devices are impressive, but the magic keyboard I purchased for the iPad stopped working after a few short years and could not be revived. I would likely either just use the on-screen keypad if I need to type or use an inexpensive blue tooth keyboard. I just don't trust the ones designed for the devices, especially because they are expensive. Thank you again!

I never knew this tablet was out. I actually forgot about the Samsung tablet line. I had a Galaxy Tab 2 forever ago and it was a decemt tablet. The ipad was always my tablet of choice though. Seeing this and already wanting the S24 Ultra that gets announced later today makes me feel more compelled to dotch the iPad and give this a shot.

Hello, I currently have a Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 tablet, which may be great, but I mostly use it to watch movies in the car. At night or in the shade it's ok, but when a little sun hits the screen it's worse. I have a question whether the Galaxy S9 plus would be a much better equivalent or maybe only the S9 Ultra. And how do the S8 Plus or S8 Ultra compare to it?
hmm, if you prefer colour accuracy, definitely go with the iPad, but if you're in the android ecosystem, and you much prefer amoled, go with Samsung. now, if ip ratings matter to you, go with the s9 series. also, in the ultra, with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 14 inch screen, it might feel like its about to tip over when holding it vertically (personal experience), so if that bothers you, and you feel like you'd do better with a 12" screen, go with s9+ or s8+ (note, base model s8 and s9 (not plus) don't have in display fingerprint, but instead side mounted)
Do you recommend me the S9 normal size for playing pubg at 90 fps? I am really considering the 256 12 gb version.
I found even the s9 plus too big for handheld.

i got s23 using dex on it and writing on my ipad pro 11 ,i thought i got the same processor on my phone. I wouldn’t need it on my tablet so I got a iPad. I tried the multi functions of the iPad Pro, but the HDMI connection makes the keyboard glitch out on the iPad but the S 23 is really smooth.

Youncan switch the notch off on the s9 ultra if it bothers you but ive just got it and its amazing! I can have the screen brightness right up it blinds you its so bright it is a lovely bit of kit!. The cheaper covers with the front cover also work with the screen unlocking and features i got one for £12 and works with the notch sensors

I fell in love with the tab s 8 ultra but after 2 days my eyes were killing me because of the pulse with modulation (PWM) used for dimming the OLED screen. Had to sell it and got an IPad Pro instead. Love it except from the useless selfie cam placement. It would be nice if you would mention that some people are sensitive to PWM as a lot of people don’t know that this is the reason they experience eye strain and headaches
is pwm fairly easy to notice? I was checking samsung but only for a bit, not sure how long it usually takes to know if one will be bothered by it or not
@@conraddevera it really just depends on the particular manufacturer. every device out there uses pwm to power brightness . . . but the frequency and power will be different among various distributors.
I have been fully using Apple products.I had iPad Pro 2021, unfortunately sustained water damage. Now I am looking for new tabs, am really confused should I go for Samsung or iPad?
I have both. The Samsung tab s9 ultra has better battery life and I like the feature that uses the pen it can show the definition of a word from any app, which I haven’t found any thing close to that on iPad Pro. Maybe it only matters to someone like me who is not native English speakers reading The New Yorker.

@@prasadbayaskar3630 if I have to buy one I would just buy the one with the same operating system as my phone. Either device is more than capable in the foreseeable future but iPad probably can last more years. But then apple is about to make big changes in the coming March with the iPad lineup so I don’t think it’s the best time to buy iPad now. I use galaxy for studying and use iPad for gaming. One thing the galaxy has is much better battery life.

Been using the m1 ipad pro since it came out for 90% of my photo editing on lightroom and photoshop. I am curious how the new S9 ultra with 16gb ram can handle the raw files from my sony a7rv in lightroom and photoshop? I want the larger screen. I spend 12 to 14 hours a day editing and its so much easier to edit on a tablet. I am just wondering if the S9 ultra is as good as editing as the iPad Pro

As a tab s8+ user if you wanna do anything productive make triple sure that your work flow works with android(Actually do a test run) cause i had a very mixed experience. Now if you want the tablet for entertainment its beyond amazing 100% you wont regret it

Lagging is the thing of the past at least for Samsung I have the s8 ultra still works fantastic
Feel I can answer that, i have an Tab S7 which first released 2020 and it still runs perfectly fine, without any reall slowdown in apps, additionally just switched to a new phone from an S9 earlier this month, which also did for the mostpart feel snappy and responsive but take some time to properly boot up and could run hot. Replaced it mainly due to the running hot thing and wanting a better battery life as i use it to give the tab a mobile hotspot which killed it's battery.
This reputation i feel comes from how many lower end devices use weaker processors which while fine at release but can strugle ina couple of years.
I had a tablet for like 6 or seven years and never failed the only problem I had was when I accidentally drop it on the floor, that's when it died. And that tablet wasn't even an S series, don't believe apple fanboys, they've never used an android device.
this is dependant on the manufacturer. In samsung's case that really isnt an issue nowdays. U can get a tab s6 still nowdays which is years old and it still runs extremely well. But dont expect the same thing from other brands. Samsung in general makes extremely solid products that are pretty good many years down the road. Problem is people will get a cheaper brand that is inferior and take that as the android experience even though older top line brands like samsung proppducts will beat it out

I have Galaxy Tab s9 and S23 ultra (i am into digital pens). But for those who want to use their tablet to create digital art, I highly recommend to buy an iPad. The touch sensitivity to the tip of pencil is pretty good.
well, sometime most reviewers tried so hard to proof that Android tablets can beat iPad, in reality, they cannot.
Thank you for this review. I bought the Tab S9 Plus and its the most expensive tab I ever purchase, but it seems the M2 12.9” is on a really different level. I can see why its the most luxurious brand among its kind, the chip are extremely powerful and provides a long-term future proofing. It's way ahead the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. The Tab S9 is really powerful and with the snapdragon chip, it is the most powerful android tablet, but when compare with this Apple's M2, its just like a boy and a man comparison, and not even close.
You forgot to mention burn-in, which is a pretty major con for the S9 in the long term if someone is doing graphical work (and this applies to the oled ipads that will be released this year, too)

I do editing, but not that much, I want to use Photoshop and Canva. So maybe a laptop that is color accurate. A laptop that I can use at work, I am Social Media Manager. A laptop that can multi-task, I am not a heavy user, not a gamer either. Hope you can give me some options 🙂

Thanks for a thorough review. My S9+ with Dex and 5G works well in my Sansung ecosystem. If an S10 Ultra with 5G is offered in the US, I will buy it. I use a mechanical bluetoorh keyboard. Samsung wants to much for its keyboard cover. i use Clip Studio Paint, which is overkill for business illustrations, and cheaper than PS. The S10 may come out too early to use the Sbadragon Gen 4.
I would like to know which one's better for annotation and note taking apps?
Assuming the app you want is available for both devices (otherwise you already have your choice made) it comes down to the size preference and the feel of the stylus you like better.
Im not an expert but i would say ipad pro and if u dont need a huge screen the 11 inch is amazing because it still has m2. Little bit of a worse display but genuinely i think you’ll see it for note taking.
Would someone change a Ipad Pro m2 12.9 against a Tab S9 Ultra? Mostly I'm reading E-books and watching Videos. I dont do editing Stuff. Is it worth it? Or would you say " hey use your ipad it you dont need to change it". I bought it because i had a Iphone 13 Pro Max before .I liked the cooperation between the devices. So the Icloud system. But now I have an S23 Ultra again because the iPhone sucks. That's why I'm asking :D
S pen does need charging when its connected to its dock its always topped up mine needed charged out the box for all features to work but still able to use it as a stylus only
They're both good but I choose Samsung for Dex. With just my phone or tablet I can have a pc experience, a gaming console with xcloud, or portable entertainment. I used to hook my s10 to a monitor and play single player games like Fallen Order without buying a gaming pc or console with Geforce. It was great.

Well, the top of the range iPad is $4799 here and the top spec Tab S9 Ultra is $2199 so it's a no brainer.
the stylist and the keyboard is far better than the Magic Keyboard in my opinion. The Apple pencil is very slippery as well. The S Pen feels amazing when writing on the screen as well. Multitasking on S9 is lighyears better than my ipad as well. The front
camera comparison was hilarious 😂. Apple should be embarrased to even put this out.
The gpu and cpu performance says otherwise.

Check the iPads viewing angle clarity, less reflection and brightness, though Samsung might be making the screens for Apple but iPad panel quality is excellent 0:45
