  • Have an ABS ESP light on AND NO Traction Control with codes C1001 or 5001 or N47-5? Before spending money 💲 on replacing the Control Module unit first try cleaning 🪥 it as this will take less than 30 minutes to do. Please 👍👍👍 and Subscribe 🔔 if this helps. This is a common problem on many European cars like this Mercedes or Chrysler Crossfire vehicle, but is easier than it appears to resolve this.
Many times due to the harsh weather 💦 ❄️ and its elements an electrical connector can get bad with lime deposits, soot, grime, or dirt and cause the connector to be inoperable. In other words the electrical connection cannot transmit its connection to the ABS control module and allow the Anti-Lock Braking System or Electronic Stability Program, or traction control to work properly.
So you need only a few items to get the control module to respond again:
    👉 Air Can amzn.to/31OSIW1
    👉 Electric Parts Cleaner amzn.to/2I279zW
    👉 Soft Toothbrush 🪥
👉 Soft Chenille Stem Brush amzn.to/36zIPOJ
ℹ️ If this quick cleaning solution does not work, then you can do a deeper clean which includes removing the Control Module and cleaning the solenoids and coils on the back side of the ABS unit. That video can be watched here:

Likewise if neither of the cleaning solutions work or you just want to skip straight to replacing the Control Module completely, then you can check out that video which can be viewed here:

Good Tip!! 👍 I had the 5001,5945, and 5944 codes coming from the ABS module in my GLK350 all at the same time. Did the quick cleaning and fixed the problem instantly. Must have been a dirty connection.

Yes on 1 car it did, but on a different vehicle the entire abs module had to be replaced.

I am thinking of pulling apart the ABS control module on my SLK 230,,to try and fix it! any suggestions please?

So I actually did take one apart (aside from just cleaning it) and did a tear down, which is difficult as I had to cut it open with an oscillating tool very carefully. However, the most likely problem is the circuit board, and I tried looking for a burnt or damaged area. I could not find it. I am not an expert on the circuit or logic boards or how to fix those. To be honest its best just to replace the entire unit. I may upload that video one day, so maybe someone else can chime in and offer a solution on how to repair that circuit board.

is it possibler to make a switch to the module so you can turn on and off it anytime?

Some cars have a built in switch located near the center console that allows you to toggle it on or off. However, if yours doesn't then Maybe if you get an aftermarket switch, and/or follow a wire diagram of this unit, that would do it. Generally not advisable after all ABS is considered a safety feature and is usually best to have it on/enabled.
