Recently, however, its growth fell to its slowest pace in six years. So what’s causing this slowdown, and how can it be reversed? CNBC’s Tom Chitty explains.

Finance Minister - It's an act of God .
So basically India's growth was done mostly under Manmohan Singh as Finance Minster and then Prime Minister. When BJP was brought in to power, Manmohan Singh's success still drove the economy upward for first couple of years of BJP govt. And then Narendra Modi at the helm, everything started going downhill and now everything fell into pieces. Only God knows when India can recover and get back on track that was once built and driven by great Manmohan Singh!
Large number of NPA were also created during this period and came to haunt the economy later. It was Narsinhrao that initiated the reforms as IMF had suggested clearly stated that bankruptcy was inevitable. McMohan could NEVER do ANYTHING unless told. Ask the dynasty and their friends.

As someone living in europe I've visited both countries China and India. To be fully honest I don't see the resemblance, I was shocked by the infrastructure of China everything seemed clean, fast and sophisticated I suffred to pay my bills because they don't use cash they use some sort of online payment, tho there was some air pollution I had a flu during my visit. Meanwhile in India I felt like I'm in a third world country, I mean I enjoyed the trip but China was so safe so smooth I felt like it's better then europe when it comes to services.

Indian media used to be okay, but nowadays they spend most of their time distracting attention with one sensationalist controversy and full-day news discussion after another. They barely cover anything of importance anymore, and certainly don't dwell as much on the economy as they should (cos it embarasses the current govt.). The only good Indian media nowadays are a few online news sites and maybe some small local publishers. Our national media, especially on TV, is a joke right now.

The truly powerful economic powers that have risen peacefully after World War II only Japan is completely democratic. Other countries like South Korea, Singapore and Israel all have authoritarian color backgrounds. Forget about Australia, Canada, they are similar to resource countries and their economies are fragile.

Dude, youngsters like to buy fancy cars with good mileage. We are smart, we know exactly when to buy and what to buy. We like to go to office in a car without dealing with the traffic ourselves, Ola and Uber does that. Also, we are waiting for e-vehicles. As soon as the infrastructure gets better and traffic density decreases we will buy the cars and expensive ones at that too. After all we are saving our income just for that. And with the population density in India it would be a miracle to find a free parking spot. Parking fee is 20rs minimum, it would be 480 per month, add fuel cost to it and monthly service cost. It's a much better option to share cabs with a colleague, brownie points if that colleague is a single women. 😉

Religion tends to slow down economic growth all over the world, you only have to look at countries where there is more religion compared to others that have less, in fact you can even see that within many countries by regions like the US where the deep south has more religion than the west and have a worse economy for it, in fact we even see this with the EU, developing countries that join the EU tend to have more religion but in time as they develop, religion becomes less important, the Republic of Ireland is a prime example of that and are now one of the riches countries in the world.
Getting rid of the shakes of religion, at least in government is a sure fire way to boost the economy.

Demonetization is majorly responsible for slowing indian economy, although this step was for reducing corruption but government forgot that our country is the most corrupted one and thus after implementation of demonitisation many big companies like amrapali etc became bankrupt and the cycle continues where many who work there lost their job many who had invested money on such companies lost their money etc.
