Just as Chris was saying during the video, please leave your comments on what you like, dislike, and what you’d like to see improved! This is the first of many Porsche charging lounges and Porsche wants to learn from EV drivers what you want to see ⚡️
I was there to charge my Taycan on Saturday and I was the only one there at the time. I quite liked the facilities, and my car got charged quickly while I was having a drink inside the lounge :)
Love the facility. On top of Porsche owners (regardless of powertrain for the vehicle), please consider admission of Porsche Club Test Drive members who are future or aspirational customers. I’ve grown up around Porsche and it’s only a matter of time before I become an owner, and I’m sure there are many like me.
Nice Porsche promo
Never will i buy a stupid ev..
They dind t solve plugin charge yet😮 the most basic charging experice!!
Great lounge btw
Looks way safer than charging alone, in the dark, behind a warehouse in the middle of nowhere. 👍
But this will never scale. Doesn't solve the problem millions of EV owners are experiencing.
In the US, the problems are somewhat few charging stations and poor charger reliability.
Evidently in Europe, you can't throw a rock without hitting charging stations like this one. How is that an unsalable solution?
I don’t think that’s generally a problem in Germany
@@KyleHubb This is Porsche. It is not meant to scale.
By warehouse you mean Walmart
Looks better than Walmart. And the brand has a motivation to keep the chargers working. Carry on.
I will never understand why this isn’t the top EV channel with millions of subscribers
My guess would be that this channels videos are long winded and repetitive at times. Take this video for example, there isnt really that much content, but its drawn out over 50 minutes...
Because he spends too much time waffling.
He isn't twerking to any particular fan base, just enjoys talking about cars. No click bait nonsense to chase numbers, Its nice for a change.
Enjoyed every minute of it.
His base is the nerdy among us who are into every nuance of electric vehicles and all things related. Probably too much for the casual viewer looking for a quick take on a vehicle.
Such a great concept. Wish more countries had this! Would be good to see some still/sparkling taps built in so people can refill water bottles etc.
😂😂 they have…..Tesla is doing this all over Europe - but for EVERYONE - not just Tesla! This native Porsche concept is just stupid.
As a Porsche customer I would love to see this in the San Francisco Bay Area. I just returned from Germany and the charging infrastructure was truly amazing. Although as a non IONITY member I was paying about 70 cents per Kilowatt! That was the only negative
If you had taken IONITY subscription and cancelled it after a month, it might have worked out cheaper, depending on how long did you stay there.
@@harmony3138And that’s exactly why I hate Ionity. They make it so incredibly complicated to just charge your car. I want to be able to pull up at the charger, tap a charging card or, even better, a credit card (or nothing at all), and charge. Subscriptions and non-transparent pricing makes a lot of charging networks so unattractive.
San Francisco is a complete and total shit hole they’ll NEVER do this there lmfao
we have lots of chargers in the Bay Area though 🙂
I just feel the pain of the plug & charge software team that missed the press launch deadline.
Definitely need this in southern Ontario, Canada!
I agree it’s a nice charging station but have you visited the ones in the uk by gridserve, like their Norwich charging hub. 22 350kw chargers, some with chademo, on site test drives, on site coffee shop & store. Tesla superchargers also there. That’s worth a visit.
the one in Braintree is also fantastic, very similar setup
I’ve been to both and each is way better than this Porsche place and everyone uses them. Chargers for just one car make shouldn’t be allowed. They should be forced to open up the network like every other network is doing.
Man, this station is not cheap. Would love to see a public station like this in the USA, even if there was a membership or access fee associated with it.
Especially with ev more ev trucks so dont have to dis concest your triler when toweing
By definition a station charging an access fee isn't public , right ? I truly hope we aren't going to see public funds going to pay for exclusive access to safe reliable charging privileges.
This is what a Porsche costumer expects and should get. I hope more charging provider will take note and will in cooperate similar concepts.
You mean copy Tesla?
@@tedmoss In general copying Tesla is often not a bad idea. I bet if most other car companies would have copied Tesla (or some unique Tesla things), they would be way better of.
@@tedmoss No he talks about 8000 Volts Hyperchargers with a roof (very useful in rain) and an air conditioned room with toilets and snacks nearby and a security concept. Not saying that Tesla super chargers are bad (at least as long as you don’t drive a 800 Volt car that can’t charge fast on a 400 Volt charger), but only a real Tesla Fanboys will deny that this is a different level of customer care and comfort.
I men 800 Volts in the first sentence not 8000
well Tesla is slowly opening up their chargers to all EV's...@@tedmoss so its the polar oposite...
Thanks Kyle and Alyssa for this amazing on site report! 🤩
You buy a Porsche which is a premium car, you should get these perks such as their own dedicated charge stations, it off loads other charge stations so I feel that is just fine! Good on you Porsche!
Plus Tesla is still not 800 V at the SuC
@@abraxastulammo9940 V4 Supercharger with newer deeper NACS plug is up to 1000v. There is two NACS plug sizes. Soo lets see how fast those get deployed.
Having access to these chargers, including being optimized for the fast charging rates of Porsches would be a tipping point for someone to splurge and go for the Porsche over other manufactures. Especially for the security, safety, and cleanliness aspect.
Well done! Hope we see some of these in the US in the future.
There will only be a few of these built... the only way these become anything other than a novelty is if they're every 100 miles or so on main routes... It won't happen.
I'd love to see more lounges here in the U.S. I'm not a Porsche driver, but just having a general lounge like this would be amazing!
For Non-Porsche drivers we have the big golden M and burger king lounges in Germany. 😆
Great video and concept from Porsche. You can clearly see the laser focus on the curated owner/customer experience, Porsche design, smart technology, and safety/security. No other company comes close to this at the moment. I currently own a car from a different German automaker, but this owner experience and the "we are Porsche family" feeling really makes me think about a Porsche EV for my next one. Please bring this concept to the US!
as soon as the 718 Spyder will be available as EV, I'll buy a Porsche 🙂. Alyssa & Kyle - nice to see you back here in Germany. Can't wait for the next videos ... especially about the IAA
Enjoy your stay, safe travel, no traffic on the Autobahn for maximum speed & joy
Brand specific charging is a terrible idea at scale. Having a handful of experiences like this I think is great. I think it would be easy for them to place, just look where the owners live and put one there. I don't think this setup is that crazy, its designed in shape like a standard gas station but it's all premium. They could do this but not as premium. I really like the forced queue line around the back, that could save a lot of headaches.
I think if it's limited, he said there will be 4 total or 8, and there are also regular charging stations it's probably fine
As a Porsche owner, being part of the Porsche family, although, not EV, their is nothing like the feeling of being looked after by the big family. This will be a big thing for owners. I am Porsche, we are Porsche. Family! I have been looked after by Porsche the entire time I have owned one. No other company has come close to it..
Never charge at a tesla station then
@@Overdiedaf Hahaha.
The only thing Porsche is looking after is your wallet lol. And trust me, they’ll look after it real good.
Right. Well, if you are in the states I’ll see you charging at the next wal-mart! 😂
I'm a Mustang owner and feel the same way with Ford and their local dealerships.
Kyle, because of you I may relocate to Germany(Europe) and become a Porsche owner...The level of respect for customers is beyond my dreams...Of course Germany is different than California - here, we deal with homeless people.
Well done Porche 👍 concept is awesome, keep going to showing for every EVs manufacturers how the charging process should be 🙏
Great video, great commentary and information. You make the videos in different way, they are long but they are like the stories, easy to watch. I like your enthusiasm and good mood, which you pass to the viewers! Thanx! 🙂
Opening such lounge in London should be on top of the list.
All they need is a business case for a charging station in one of the worlds most expensive real estate areas....
@@FirstLast-rh9jw
Most Porsche owners are in London.
It doesn't have to be in Central London.
Should be open to London Black Cabs as well
If these types of stations come to the USA my next EV purchase will be a Porsche.
I would too if this existed in Australia
0:07 You got me at toilet. Although I don't know if Porsche has anything on Buc-ee's.
really like to see longer cables like they have as well as a covered charging stations so we are all out of the weather. Owned my model 3 for 18 months now, and never charged under a canopy. We just don't have any in the midwest that are covered like that.
Yet.
My wife has had and has a number of Porsches. One of the reasons I have stuck with Tesla for myself is the charging network. If Porsche could fix Electrify America, I would get her an electric Porsche. For now she is holding on to her last gas Porsche until the charging network is fixed...I hope Porsche (VW) is listening...
Absolutely love this. Tesla should follow their lead, boutique charging stations strategically placed just like this for Tesla only. Tesla could also still operate and grow their public network. This really makes me want a Porsche.
Tesla with no dealership and their poor customer service can never be a Porsche.
Porsche - superior build quality, no leaking trunks, no hitting the kerb on parallel parking, ghost braking, fudging customers, overestimation of range.
@@harmony3138 So many Tesla sites look better than this. Also, go to the Porsche forum and see the Taycan riddled with problems.
@@harmony3138Tesla does have dealerships lmao
What a nice setup, thanks for sharing
Great information and concepts here. Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see one of these in the Los Angeles area! All car manufacturers should take note on this design, amazing.
The Mamba Green Taycan is simply incredible. In the top tier of colors on any car I've ever seen.
Love these videos Kyle!
Absolutely Amazing Porsche charging lounge.
Love the idea and definitely would entice to lean toward a Porsche next time for an EV.
Such a great concept Thanks Kyle &wify 😄
I thought he was banging that other chick? What happened to her?
Looks like a fine gas statin but much cleaner. No huge oil marks on the floor
💚💚💚Green looks great on this car and I'm not a fan of green on a car but this looks amazing. 6 years ago I've thought about a design where there are vending machines and a lounge inside and full Canopy over the charging stations open 24/7 with 1 person on site always to keep things clean.
Just one Tesla-bot needed.
This is amazing.
Commendably exquisite !
For the US I could imagine a network of members-only charging stations set up along the model of upscale airport lounges such as the Delta Sky Club. EV car owners could buy annual memberships in such a club to make long distance travel more comfortable and luxurious. These clubs would accommodate any EV but would guarantee fast charging, maintained chargers, and some amenities such as free coffee, clean restrooms, etc. People who are on the road all the time as part of their job would pay extra for this. The cost of the kWh might even be discounted a little.
all the more reason for me to forget about buying an EV. I can see the writing on the wall. I wouldn't be able to afford to be a member of some private club just so I can safely and conveniently get around .
Kudos you doing a good work in creating awareness and exploring. Looking forward for mercedes then toyota
Loves the word "situation" as much as Kyle 😂
I really like the two of you together on the videos! You should do more of them together. Also, the traffic lights being located, where they are keeps you from going to be on the line. Otherwise, you can’t see when the light changes. Lastly, the letters EI together, give you the long I in the pronunciation and IE together gives you the long E in pronunciation FYI.
Zugangsschlüssel... entry key 😂
Zugang = entry
Schlüssel = key
Great vid. I've never used an Ionity charger before as a Tesla owner used to Superchargers, and I'm sure Porsche owners will feel a similar preference to use their own network.
You didn’t ask “the” question at the end when you had the chance: Will we see these in North America, and if so, when? And I’m with you: I want a sports turismo turbo. Not available in the US :(.
I did ask the question! Gotta watch it again 😉
Can confirm, he did ask. You missed it at the end.
Thanks!
Great job Porsche ! I love the concept ! Chris is it open for belgium Taycan owner ? I wish you will put some charging lounge acrross EU !
Curious how this would scale. in 2022 they shipped ~35k taycans worldwide and I believe less than 10k in USA. I could see these being in very dense porsche areas like SoCal but not sure where else, especially if they want to remain porsche only. Being NACS laggards I think will start to effect sales potentially as well.
I mean you cant really fault them for not adopting NACS when the Taycan came out years before Tesla made it public.
I don’t believe it’s intended to scale, the Macan EV and Boxters EVs are coming soon so there’s a probability of much higher sales volume than with the Taycan. I myself did not purchase a Taycan since it can’t tow, I will be buying a Macan EV as it will. I live in CA these would do great here.
Neat video. That was one crazy smock you were wearing. I kept wondering when you were going to whip out a easel and start painting a watercolor.
i love how the porsche manager talks about security all the time and then reveals his PO911 access code on his phone. but nice location and nice video.
Northern Virginia would gladly have this type of site. Lots of Taycans around here. Maybe Tysons Corner, Fairfax, or Centreville. Washington DC is too crowded probably.
Love that new thumbnail.
Absolutely love this concept, only wish we’d see these in the US at some stage (Colorado please!!! Although Green River Utah could also use one).
What a dream station. Please bring a few to the United States. Los Angeles and San Jose would be great. Thanks Kyle and Porsche.
Nicely done Porsche!
Amazing presentation Kyle & Alyssa and well done Christian and team. Lots of amazing options and opportunities to develop as this niche network expands. (And congratulations Christian on your genetic makeup this incarnation - wow! What a hunk! 😎✌️)
Walled gardens don't keep birds from planting weed seed so we may need to wait in the USA for Diesel Deamons to Die off before planting something nice here.
Apparently the dream of EV ownership is now clear. It's an exclusive club for the wealthy. I hope the birds do poop on these private clubs
This reminds me of the Tesla Kettleman City SuperCharger stop in California. I really like that gift shop and work area in there. Hope many more chargers utilize that concept.
I like the focus on charging while towing a trailer
This was very cool😁Great content, this sets the example of what can be! Love it! Eventually all charging stations will be more like convenience stores, offsets the income to allow for less profit needed on electricity. Gas stations only Make pennies on a gallon of gas, money is made on convenience items instead. Soda, coffee, snacks. Can’t wait to see one on every corner, it’s coming!
So almost all the profit on gas goes to the gas company.
For your question about specific chargers for each brand, I think that way will be just a waste of ressources to only offering to Porsche owner but why not I guess. My opinion! Great content as always, When I see you on that autobahn with that smile, I said this is all about!!
41:12 I would definitely push that button 😂
This is what all charging stations should look like, including the pull through!
I like that they are handicapped accessible. If you are in a wheel chair you can roll right up to get the cable without the stupid curbs in North Anerica
Thanks Kyle, Chris - build one (or three!) in Los Angeles/Santa Barbara area, it will be MUCH used. Thank you!
Porsche rocks! I hope to own a (used) Taycan some day....
Put ‘em between Scottsdale Az and Las Vegas NV …😊
WOW!. Can't wait to se the Bentley or Rolls Royce lounges. . Thanks Kyle!. Nice to see you bringing the latest from around the world.
Looks to have taken some inspiration from Gridserve in the UK.
So basically the perfect charging location is a gas station with a convenience store. I'm sure they have versions all over the country but where iy live they're called Sheetz. Many gas pumps under canopies, restrooms, food, and places to sit. The big difference is that I can use Sheetz in my Chevy right next to a Porsche.
yea and I can gas my Chevy Express work truck so I can make real world wages right next to a land rover or whatever . This stuff is head in the clouds unrealistic in my view
It would be great if we had one of this in Atlanta USA .
At an energy exhibition I could have a glance at the inside of an alpitronic charger from both sides. It is not only clean outside but als inside with many modules that can be slide in and out. So exchanging pieces or updating components is easily possible.
Would love to see this in USA. Recommended location would be Palm Springs, CA area. There are a lot of Porsches in this area. Great video, thank you.
This car is beutiful ❤ best looking ev
Would love to see those also in Belgium!!
Thats amazing. This is what NIO is doing with its Swap Stations (just without the lounge, as it is too fast) and their NIO House. Great that more companies do it.
If you have time for a little road trip to Austria, you can go up the alps to Grossglockner, there are Tesla destination chargers with a view to the glacier. :) just remember plenty of head room on the battery to regain downhill. beautiful views and really shows why an EV is awesome to drive downhill in the mountains One can completely ignore the fading brake warnings. Perhaps there should be a "don't drive down on a full battery warning instead". :D I wanted to go this year again, but never got around to it. Cheers
This was awesome. For the love of god, build one in Dallas, TX.
Exceptional: Superbly desirable convenience/ efficiency + security.
This would be great to see in the US! This kind of unique and tailored charging experience is a great way for Porsche, Mercedes, Audi, etc to set themselves apart beyond the vehicles themselves.
Unlikely to happen given the number of Porsche EV's sold. How many Porsches EV's in Colorado etc? At best there will be one every thousand miles, maybe.
Mercedes is set to open up their first North American Charging Hub location in Atlanta, GA later this year. Although all vehicles will be able to charge there, they have said their new charging hubs will be representative of the "Mercedes brand". It will be interesting to see if they're able to execute things as well as Porsche has done here.
this is the jetson age, loving it, america needs to pick up the pace and not in 5 years but right now, tomorrow is to late, man this is the bomb
Wow, amazing. They invented a walled garden gas station/convenience store......
Porsche needs to come here in NorCal in Palo Alto the city in the US who has the most EV per resident
Seems like a great idea for the higher-end cars. People like the exclusivity that comes with a Porsche.
Was looking forward to the view at the end of a closed wall garden charging station. Did I miss this portion?
Looks really good! If feedback is wanted though I think the chargers are facing the wrong way. Talking about using trailer etc and having the chargeport in the front of the car then charger 2 should face the blue car, not charger 1.
Did I miss the discussion of the walled garden? Well, I appreciate the technical expertise and expertise displayed, specific segmentation of a brand to a charger is counterproductive to the overall adoption of electric vehicles.
SOH in new Taycans drops pretty soon after production date, what is the SOH in this car?
amazing pls bring the model cars collectors edition!
Suh-weet, Kyle! Great DCFC site! Lucky Porsche EV owners. And lucky Europeans. Gotta get some of these Alpitronic chargers here!
Porsche taking it to the next level and surpassing even Tesla. Clearly took on all the right lessons, introduced some new innovations that will likely become the new standard with remote monitoring of equipment and security
I would certainly hope so, their cars cost twice as much
We need one in london please!!!
In the U.S., the obvious target sites would be along major travel corridors. Between Vegas and SoCal, SoCal and NorCal, somewhere along the garden state parkway in NJ for the summer beach travel, on the I-95 in South Jersey or DE for the NYC to DC corridor, etc, in Kingman, AZ etc.
This looks like a great experience, and as much as I'd love a Taycan I get the feeling the average snobbery level at a place like this would make me prefer going to a regular fast charger.
The same chargers that FastNed uses? But only for Porches?
how do. you get in say with a 911- does it still have porsche app? also does the site have solar PV
Bring it to Miami, FL!
Something like this would make a lot of sense in Bellevue WA (Which also already has a Porsche dealership).
Its a pretty DC charging station, but has a huge footprint for such a small number of charging dispensers so I hope this doesn't become standard for other `luxury` DCFC stations.
We need this in Norway🇳🇴🇳🇴
