3-4 years ago, I bought one, without knowing it was an original, and as I was clueless in pilot watches, even something historical, seller told me it's from the 50s, not keeping time or reserve, no band, scratches. No other details, except a reference number on the case. I bought it with a few other watches and other stuffs for 35€. I forgot it in a drawer for months, and when I went to my watchmaker for another watch, I took this one too and asked for a quote to service, repair and polish it. And, he send me an email a few days later with a picture of the movement, and it's a Laco from WWII, the watch was revised and now works like a charm. To be honest, It's too big for my taste but, since then, I bought another pilot watch, a Laco Palermo 39mm orange and I love it. I have often thought about selling it to buy something else, or exchanging it for a Submariner no date but, as it is the best deal I have made in my life, being superstitious, I prefer to keep it, as a good luck charm and to remind me that sometimes, life gives us gifts.
Must have watched this a dozen times now. Great review of an amazing piece of history. It makes owning any Laco so special. I feel sorry for people who ask me about mine. My response is always a little longer than they're expecting!
Great video. I liked your spontaneous input about cigarettes being more harmful then radium. Whether true or not, made me count that every year i smoke away one watch. So i left cigs and bought myself Laco. Dankeschön!
Thank you so much for making this video! I have inherited an B-Uhr watch from my grandfather, I was expecting opening the case to be difficult and complicated, but using a guitar plectrum, one can open it with surprising ease.
I guess that is a dream come true for everyone who is into aviation watches. And it speaks for Laco that they are able to service the original Beobachtungsuhr after all this decades. Enjoy your time with this watch!
Thanks Eddie for being kind enough to lend this original to Tim, a genuine pleasure for us to see one. Thanks Tim, truly stunning piece of history 👍🏻👍🏻
Fantastic video! Nice to see the huge, slow balance wheel. And I loved the description on the inside of the case with “Lacher & Co.” I haven’t seen that before.
This is the second video of yours that I’ve watched and I want to say how very well you have done. Excellent job, very good English and very easy to understand. A veritable History lesson! I love the information presented about these beautiful watches, thank you.
Thanks Tim. That. Was. Fantastic. What an honour for you. What a magnificent time piece. Of course the original B-Uhr is special beyond words but credit where credit is due: the Laco re-issue is a great piece, but what Mr. Platz has been able to do with Time Factors is *incredible.* I've been aware of that Precista Flieger for a short while and really admire what he has done with the Smiths brand. I really like the Everest PRS25, but what I think is really special are his Mil-Spec re-makes, especially the new Mk11's. To my eyes, Time Factors are *the* most interesting new independent watch maker in the market today, and the more I hear about Eddie Platz, the more impressed that I am. Thank-you for a great upload Tim. One of the most exciting reviews that I've seen for a while now. Cheers and Best. Anthony.
Amazing video. It was a real treat to see all three on the table together, thank you. Wonderful history lesson, and a great job by Eddie on that Timefactors dial (nailed it!). A B Dial Laco will one day be in my collection for sure.
That original B-uhr is breathtaking! I love the sound of the crown, the click when you pull it or push it back. And THAT MOVEMENT!! Simply gorgeous. Truly a unicorn.
That was quite a treat. especially to see you open the case of the original. To know that watch was used by a brave flieger and no I am not endorsing war, but I think we can say that all pilots are brave men. Well it was seeing real history. so Thank you Tim and Eddie.
A phenomenal watch and a fascinating comparison. What an extraordinary piece of history! The age and patina simply can’t be replicated. (It’s also great to hear Beobachtungsuhr and Flieger pronounced by a native speaker).
Wow! This is the first time I see an original B-Uhr in a live review, and it is fascinating! The proportions really make you feel like you are back to childhood. I'm still a bit concerned about the radium paint, and honestly, if I had one of those watches, I would keep it in a lead lined case, just to be on the safe side. Maybe being a teenager when Reactor N.4 in Chernobyl went kaboom left me a bit paranoid. What surprised me is the size of the movement itself. I expected a movement with a diameter around 36-40 mm, like the Unitas/ETA 6497 they use in the Time Factors, but it is almost as big as the watch itself - really amazing, it makes you feel small. Anyway, I'm glad that you and Eddy from Time Factors became so connected, it gave us the possibility to see this original B-Uhr and all the pieces from Time Factors, which is something very rare to be seen on TH-cam. Congrats!
Thank you! Have you seen this Netflix series about Tschernobyl? 5 or 6 episodes, between drama and documentary. I've binge watched them, so interesting and accurate.
The first video I saw about these large WONDERFUL WWII watches without wrong information. Very well done and perfect research! Thanks a lot for your great work and for sharing this nice watch with us.
I live in México. A friend of mine will bring to me a Laco Aachen 39 from Germany next christmas. Hard and expensive to get one from here. That movement from the original one Is just mesmerizing
What a fantastic video. Thanks for posting. I have one of the modern Lacos and it is superb for timing. I was running late for an appointment and driving in my car and glancing at the watch I could see exactly how much time I had--it is so easy to read the minutes and seconds with a quick glance. Wonderful watch and a great historic vintage look.
Just ordered a Laco and can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you, a great and informative video- bizarre that the luftwaffe watch was in the UK, maybe captured from a luftwaffe pilot?
Thank you so much for this video. History, Watch Making & a Modern Comparison all in one Video. Oh! and a German, British collaboration for good measure. Well Done, from an Irish Man.
This was fascinating. The audio of the winding and crown action was stunning. As a modern Laco owner this was a treat. Especially to see it opened. Might also seem like an obvious detail, but I also appreciated seeing it over the sleeve. Thank you for all of this.
Im supriced how original has so well proportioned and artistic details. Those lugs from the side have incredibly beautiful lugs and that christal doom siuts the dial perfectly. Also proportions of elements somehow make watch look not weird because of it size. Just WOW!
Great video! Gorgeous original watch😍. I own a modern Laco B-Uhr and it’s my favorite watch. I would certainly love to own an original in such condition as the one featured in this video. Thank you for sharing.
Congratulations Tim! It's so appropriate that you were able to review and get your hands on that historic watch! I cannot imagine the value of that piece! It must have felt quite special being in your hands, and for someone who can appreciate these mechanical Masters. Just being able to feel the way it winds up must have been quite a gratifying experience! I have a Laco B type, but unfortunately I was only able to afford to the one with the horrible miyota 821a movement. You've got the gem! Thanks for the great review!
Thank you for the comparison between the old and the new. Remarkably jealous you had time with that original watch yet thrilled with the obvious excitement you had with it. Great video
A lot of old watch movements in general don't hack & have low beat rates of around 18,000 vph. I guess the pocket watch movement these could have been modified to hack, but it looks like there wasn't a requirement for it.
Kudos and good Karma to Timefactors. As I get older and hopefully smarter I hope I make or at least I try to make decisions where ethics matter and decent companies get my business. This Eddie chap is obviously a passionate man about watches. I like his passion. I like his generosity to a channel that does not have a squillionsubscribers , though it should have imo . His watches ( sadly often sold out ) are very good. I am a future customer. Richard Bartram
The sound of the winding on the original '44 Laco is good ASMR. Music to your ears haha, or maybe just me. I think I would like that robust winding crown.
Wow that was cool seeing the original. Thanks Tim. As to the radium, I think the level of radiation is so low that the risk is negligible, unless you were to do something like open it up, crush the radium up, and do your best Tony Montana. Finally, a request - if you're going to say a long German word, also write it out as a caption on the screen. I suspect many non-german speakers like me might like to learn what the German watch words are when you use them, but we have no chance when it's just pronounced. At least those of us who are ignorant Americans who barely received a proper education in English in public school, let alone anything about how to speak another language 😬 (I'm an American who has worked closely with Europeans for many years in business; one thing it's taught me is what a poor job our schools do on language education. So I poke fun at myself and my country over this.)
Thanks for watching! Define the value is very complicated with those watches. It depends on condition, country, season. I've seen B-Uhren in auctions between 3k and 4k. But this is only a segment in the market.
Love it love it love it, that has been my ultimate goal is to get that watch. I have found only a few but in very very poor condition. Harder to find any here in the US. Thanks for showing us
Like your approach to reviewing watches 😁. This is a really interesting video, to handle an original "flieger" watch is amazing - you are very lucky. I've just ordered a Stowa type-b 40 flieger - I like the style and "functionality" of the watch and it is a lot more practical than the original 😂. Take care.

Fantastic video, Tim! Loved the comparison between the modern homages and the genuine artifact.
Thank you!
I simply don't have words for the design of that original B-uhr. I'd wear it to the supermarket every single day.
I would too!
This watch has seen action! See that crack in the crystal? Got crushed between two trolleys at Aldi.
That’s a lot of shopping
around my leg if need be
It would be a lot of pain going to the Supermarket every SINGLE day...
I have an original Wempe Thommson B-UHR Luftwaffe watch. Been in the family since WW2

That original B-Uhr is super amazing! I would love to have it. Originals are quite expensive, from 4000-10000$. Thanks for sharing! Great video 👌
Thanks Eddie for being kind enough to lend this original to Tim, a genuine pleasure for us to see one.
Thanks Tim, truly stunning piece of history 👍🏻👍🏻

Just fantastic. I'm a Laco-fan and in for an order.
Thanks Tim.

You must be joking - Eddie has doxxed customers in the past, repeatedly throws tantrums and has an utterly ridiculous ordering system.
Amazing video. It was a real treat to see all three on the table together, thank you. Wonderful history lesson, and a great job by Eddie on that Timefactors dial (nailed it!). A B Dial Laco will one day be in my collection for sure.
Thank you very much for the kind comment!
You're right... this deserves more views. The first time I'm getting so much visual context to an intriguing category of such rich heritage. Thanks!
The best Flieger review ever on you tube. Tim thank you so very much 👌
Thanks for watching!
That original B-uhr is breathtaking! I love the sound of the crown, the click when you pull it or push it back. And THAT MOVEMENT!! Simply gorgeous. Truly a unicorn.
Great to see the original watch. Thanks to Eddie and you Tim 😃👍

Including those ones deliberately throw bombs on civilians? I don't think so.
A phenomenal watch and a fascinating comparison. What an extraordinary piece of history! The age and patina simply can’t be replicated. (It’s also great to hear Beobachtungsuhr and Flieger pronounced by a native speaker).
What an incredible watch, and so steeped in history. A pleasure to see.
A very generous gesture by Eddy.
Great. But Laco makes new ones in 55 mm too. Should have compared that.
That Lacher & Co made me think of Hans-Ulrich Rudel in his Ju 87 G destroying Russian tanks. Great video as always, and coolest watch ever!
What an honor to see it in it’s full glory. Thank you.
Great review, I've ordered a LACO Paderborn a few weeks back and still waiting for it. So hopefully it should be here soon.

Super! Das Anschauen hat total Spaß gemacht und Lust auf eine Fliegeruhr....die ich mittlerweile habe. Danke dafür!
Danke fürs Anschauen, das freut mich!
Just bought a Seiko sports watch with the same face as the laco love the layout great watch has the 4r36 automatic movement.
Spectacular Tim, many thanks for showcasing this very rare watch, and to Eddie also.
Most interesting review of fliegeruhren on TH-cam so far. Thank you al lot. 👍
Very substantial presentation! Thanks Tim!

Great video Tim. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Tim, tgank you for doing this segment. It's so cool to see something from history and with its original strap.
Indeed a special treat to see a working original, thanks for sharing
Great comparison and very interesting video! Keep it up! Will be sure to direct some people to this video when I post next!
This might sit well on someone with 9 inches wrists. I would go to the supermarket wearing it on my 8,5 in wrists any day. Excellent video, thanks!
Amazing timepiece. I really like that thing of "minutes outside" in the dial, makes it easier to see the time in my opinion.
I love your enthusiasm and informative videos! Now I'm developing a taste for vintage military time pieces.
Excellent and great fun. Thank you!
Underbart! Wonderful!
This episode was absolutely outstanding, a beautiful watch indeed. Thank you for sharing, Tim.
Great video and great story of how you were able to get your hands on this historical piece. Keep the great content coming!
Great review Tim, very interesting, never seen a review of an original on TH-cam before!
Thank you for the comparison between the old and the new. Remarkably jealous you had time with that original watch yet thrilled with the obvious excitement you had with it. Great video
Those are great pieces of history. Thanks for sharing. Love the type B dial, and the original FL stamp.
Great review of historical timepiece! Thanks, Tim!👍
Superb video. That was fascinating thank you 🙏
Yes, it was fascinating for me too. Thanks for watching!
Great review 👍
Wow, Tim, great video 🤯🤯
If that watch could talk...
Wow this made my day! Great work my friend. Regards from Idaho!
great video. Really amazing to see one of these historic watches close up.
That Long minute hand on the original 1944 B-Uhr is Awesome! I will definitely consider buying a modern version! THANK YOU!
Inside of the original is So Cool!
Exactly my thought when I saw the movement! :-D Thanks for watching!
What a privilege. A time capsule of a history of bloodshed, and, in a way, peace.
Great report Tim!
Wow! The action on the original is amazing!
Excellence yet again. Thank you Tim.
Excellent work Tim, I really enjoyed this.
Excellent presentation and watches.
Very interesting review, Tim. Interesting that the original does not seem to “hack.” Thank for posting this.
A lot of old watch movements in general don't hack & have low beat rates of around 18,000 vph. I guess the pocket watch movement these could have been modified to hack, but it looks like there wasn't a requirement for it.
I didn't notice that, interesting. I heard that it was a requirement to be able to hack.
yeah i was under a similar impression, so pilots could more precisely synchronize. Maybe a myth?
This movement hacks when the second hand reaches the 12 o'clock position only. A bit different than most watches/movements today that hack.
The D5 - movement has a hacking mechanism indeed, gets to work when pulling the crown. It's broken in this watch, though.
Excellent review and comparison here. Really enjoyed this and helps put some context on modern Laco releases as well.
Thank you.

Congratulations Tim, i declare this video to be the best watch review ever made on youtube. And ive watched thousands!!
Thank you very much. That‘s really encouraging.

Great video! Your videos are never "me too" shows, but having an original B-Uhr is a real coup.
Thank you. It was great to handle that watch. Like in a museum with the permission to touch everything you want ...
Excelent video! greetings from Lima, Perú!!
Thank you!
Take care.
In english we would call that a "roller buckle"
