Something wich i found works Great is adding some Supports to a Wall, even just some half Beams going upwards brings in depth, details and the option for adding another Color
This right here is what keeps Space Engineers interesting, I can't tell you how many times in my 1000+ hours I just slapped down a 10x10 box for my new, "Utilitarian" Mars base lol Love the video, thank you for introducing some flavor to more peoples', and my own builds!
(In some moments I can repeat from the video). From my experience, I can only observe how a frame box was erected. It's not just about the details, it's about the shape of the construction itself, sometimes no matter how hard you try, you can't cut the maximum relief you want from the plane. you need to give more additional shapes and details. it's also important not to overload the construction with too many details and make better details where it matters, otherwise it will be chaotic. Ergonomics can also play an important role in the design, depending on what you want to get out of it, you don't have to build a huge room rad several plants and containers of equipment. If you survive without any danger, you can use the equipment as additional decoration, if you can use it properly, you will save a lot of resources and space. If you are frequently attacked, it is better to hide everything of value under the base by drilling a hole (can be unreliable in some cases!). It is better to use sturdy blocks such as door blocks and heavy armor as exterior decorations. with the right play, you can make an impregnable fort. I hope I've explained it clearly, and if I haven't, well... You can find all the examples online and in the workshop to build your base based on their solutions.
What I always say: "Purpose makes aesthetic" To explain: lighting, depth, breaking monotony, shapes on shapes, movement, coloring, etc... can serve an actual purpose other than aesthetic so the creation will beautify by itself
Love how you have done the video, very good and easy to follow and as an experienced builder myself i can say there is some really good advice, great video!!! :D
This video is really great! I'm feeling a whole lot more inspired to build bases now, which is something I always found tedious (probably because I didn't feel very satisfied with my results!)
@GleebTorin haha its a bit more of a struggle trying to navigate the menus & build on controller, that's for sure 😂 & we don't have toolbar on console i believe 💀

I use a lot of blocks in this video, but it sounds like you're referring to the armour block, the basic building block of the game. The thin trim is there by default. If you're not seeing it, you out the server you're playing on may be using mods. Let me know if I can give you more specific info.
This video was all purely recorded without any mods, but it was done in Creative mode. You can build lines and planes of blocks by holding combinations of Shift and Ctrl and holding down LMB when placing your blocks. If there's something you see me do in this video that you'd like to know more about, just ask! 😊
Who cares about looks? A box is very efficient, and as an engineer, efficiency is key. The game is called "Space Engineers", and not "Space Designers" or "Space Artists". 😀 No, seriously, nice tips. Making diagonal trusses out of beam blocks adds a lot of interest as well, at least for me it breaks up the "box on box on box" style quite a bit.

That's an excellent tip! The beams are great for that, they're so visually distinct from other blocks.

Now I see why you're such a good architect in minecraft!
You're the CEO of making a box look great.
It's the little things that make a huge difference to the way you view a structure. Great vid, thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the advice, man! This all seems really obvious when you show it, but it's details like this that I never really think about!
Honestly same. Never thought to think about this stuff, until it was pointed out to me, and I had to share.

This is some amazing advice!

Just to appreciate the Beginning Bit

Great work my guy very useful even for a day 1 veteran
Glad you found it useful! :)
I too dream of getting my revenge on thrusters !
1:53 "Which is just a thin, tall box." That gave me the same vibes as Shad's nunchuncks rant for some reason.
Not every day I'll see a comparison like that.
What did the thruster ever do to you! 😂
It was a little unhinged, though *I* thought the thruster should have been shot and piston.
It knows. 😡
I use rounded pillar blocks and I beams for foundation structure
So glad I found you, the production quality of this video is 10/10 and the advice is very helpful for newer players
Aw, thanks so much!
This video is under-rated
Nice! :)
Partly ground down blocks, look different to functional ones, which is good for adding decoration...
yea just a normal steel frame without being welded up completely looks a bit like scaffolding
Nice touches. I'll have to try those!
Thanks for the tutorial. Wish quality SE videos got more views, please stick with it.
Thanks for the encouragement!
Excelent work! This was a really good step by step guide!
Added to my SE playlist :)

Glad to hear it! Put some music on and chill while you build, and you'll be done before you know it!
The more tips & advice, the better!
Console is very difficult to manage, need me a KB&M.
I got used to it a bit after several hours, but yeah, KBM is the way.

Any plans on making some spaceship design videos?
You can use a lot of the techniques in this video on space ships, but yes, there's already one in the works! :)
@@GleebTorin Really looking forward to that :)
How to build beautiful things for engineers)))
happy happy clouds
Fantasic video
Glad you're getting use out of it?
Is that first wind generator setup really optimal for power?
I do believe so. Wind turbines need 8-ish blocks of clearance on a flat plane around their axis of rotation.
What kind of block is that ? how do i get those little thine frame arround my blocks? i dont get it :(

How do i make the line/planes things?
When you're placing blocks in creative mode, holding CTRL lets you place a line of blocks, and CTRL+SHIFT lets you place a plane.
how are you placing all the blocks like that by dragging it
Dragging blocks like that is possible in Creative mode. You'll need to hold CTRL for a line, and CTRL+SHIFT to make a rectangle.
@@GleebTorin ahh thanks man
what mod are you using to build?

@@GleebTorin thanks bud, you got good content.
@@GleebTorin hey, whenever i put half block down, i can't put another one in front of it just like you did
@@main490 I'm not sure what you mean. Are you trying to fit them into the same space?
