It’s called cold start knock When the engine starts cold the computer dumps more gas to warm the engine up faster Thank the tree huggers for this Once it is warm the computer then regulates the gas air mix And the knock sound goes away Completely normal.
I have the 2017 Outlander. It sounds like this when you first start it up or Cold Start, whether it's in summer or winter. No vehicle starts up and sounds like it does when it's all warmed up. Suggestion: Have a Remote Start installed. Remotely start your vehicle from now on and then go and see if the sound improves after 5-10 minutes. I bet it does.
Thanks for making this video. I have the same 2.4L since new and has the same noisy engine. I only get 22-23mpg mix driving, curious what others get. Best was about 29mpg all freeway.
New hub bearings will exhibit mpg performance and efficiency. Check your load practices. Heavy loads contribute wear and tear...engine and bearings take the major burdens.
Check your burdened bearings, wear and tear thru time. Most sounds originate from. Moving parts, steel vs aluminum, practical semantics of engineering to trace.
Thanks for this I just bought one and was wondering why im new to mitsubishi

Normal sound, better sound than sewing machines.

does your idle rpm stay the same when you are in park or does it move around a little bit?

Yes. Every vehicle’s morning time starting like that sounds coming reason morning temperature is cold
What if sounds persists after driving a while?
