I served for 11 years. Had some mental issues, and body pain after. Gain a bunch of weight. A Vet friend of mine told me about it's benefits for him. I had never used. I wasn't against it. Just wasn't for me. I didn't get high until I was 29. But I tried it. I felt less pain, was in a better mood. And as a result, I could exercise again. I've lost 80 lbs while on cannibus. Maybe it does have its down falls. But I figured, my brain stopped developing. So it was ok to smoke or eat. I've had great results. But that's just me. In moderation. Cheers.

I have a friend who was in a terrible motorcycle accident and taking marijuana recreationally helped with his recovery. The funny thing is, he doesn't take marijuana recreationally anymore because he says "he doesnt need it anymore". He continues to ride a motorcycle to and from work and works as a waiter.

yes it is extremely beneficial for a lot of people. the fact that this is being debated is nuts. I've been stuck on all the crazy prescription drugs against my will so early on thanks to my own parents. They rather me be on life destroying painkillers than use weed. They still would rather that even to this day. I'm only alive today because of weed. and it has always made me a kinder more sensitive, thoughtful, and aware person.. etc.

My mother in law is a double amputee who was in tears when I introduced her to CBD because it finally dealt with pains (phantom pains particularly) that opioids et all didn't help with, but it was all her doctor would prescribe her. She couldn't believe that a simple puff/spray of a CBD concentrate just made them vanish....literally crying over finally finding relief, and the anger of being in needless pain for so long....

I agree with you that there are some downside side effects, HOWEVER, for anyone who truly has chronic pain (I do), those side effects are nothing compared to going without. I didn’t start smoking until I was 23, and that was only occasionally. I didn’t start smoking a lot until I was 27. I also use CBD drops & wild lettuce tincture. Together, it all helps, naturally. No big pharma.
I quit for 6 months, once, when I was 35. I think I did it just to prove to myself that I could. After a week, or so, I didn’t miss it. (EDIT to add: I didn’t miss it for appetite stimulation, nor for the calming effects, but I did miss the pain relief, and took OTC stuff with less efficacy. I took OTC sleep aids while I was off MJ.) I’m actually pretty productive for a consta-smoker. I don’t have any issues with constant use, mostly because I use sativas during the day & some of them create a euphoria & excitement towards completing creative ideas you have. I build out-buildings on my farm, mow the grass, plow snow, etc. - on sativas. Whereas, indicas...in-da-couch.😴😴😴 Which is my other problem...insomnia. 🙄

It was extremely hard to stop doctors wanted to prescribe methadone and I refused. No point in trading one opiate for another. I used high doses of thc and really high doses of cbd a ratio of 2:1 for 2 months without using opiates during that time. Then as the opiate withdrawals subsided so did my Cannabis use with no feeling of I need to use Cannabis like I had with the opiates. Now I use Cannabis when I can’t handle the pain anymore. I take 2 extra strength ibuprofen 3 times daily and eat Cannabis every second or third day to sleep because if I didn’t use it I would go days upon days without getting a decent night sleep. Which is 4 hours. In conclusion I have to say that the addictivness of Cannabis is very low if at all.

I'm doing just FINE with legalization and my weed intake. I live in Northern Canada where it's BRUTALLY cold. It's very difficult to get out and do simple, normal stuff that you guys (where it's warm all the time and don't have to deal with 6 feet of snow) take for granted. For example, right now where I am, it's minus 21 C with minus 37 C windchill, and there's a SHIT-TON of snow everywhere. What can you do? WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO?! Smoke weed! Or do harder drugs that kill you? Or drink alcohol? GTFO HERE, ya alcoholic POS! I hate alcohol. That's much worse than weed ANY DAY! And pharmaceuticals are REALLY bad too (when they're abused I mean).
Sure, it's not for everyone (weed), but where I live, it helps a lot. So a BIG thank-you to my wonderful, beautiful (but very cold) country, Canada. God Bless this beautiful nation. ♥

This was somthing that I had never experienced in my entire life. The problem lies in not knowing how much to use and when and exactly what type to use. Overall I still think if properly prescribed that CBD and THC is likely to have an overall positive effect in peoples lives though as with any drug...all things in moderation is a good attitude to have when using it.

I am against weed in the sense that people just sit around and get baked all day and don't do anything productive. I am against the use of weed if someone is more apt to not pursue their dreams because of drug tests. I don't think you should let anything control you. I do wish however that they would come up with some sort of a breathalyzer like they have for alcohol. Because I would like to once in awhile sit down and take a hit or two. I can go get s***-faced drunk every night wake up hungover go get in that truck and drive. But I cannot on a Friday night if I want to quiet my brain, kill some pain or just relax, take a hit of weed or two wake up in the morning and be fine. Let me start out with the fact that I'm a cannabis consumer. In fact, I just finished off some Critical Cure in my Zeus Smite. That said, the point of THC in cancer patients (myself included) isn't that it will cure the cancer. It's because it helps me get my appetite back, helps me sleep, and helps reduce cortisol (stress), which alone has a huge impact on slowing down the proliferation of new cancer cells. There are other benefits for cancer, but those are the big three, at least for me. The first person who claimed cannabis can cure cancer (to the best of my knowledge) was Rick Simpson (for whom RSO is named), who claimed that rubbing cannabis oil on his skin cured his skin cancer, which doesn't make any sense because THC is not active transdermally. CBD is, and totally works for localized pain, but in the process of making RSO, the CBD is decarboxylated and becomes something that is no longer transdermally active. Therefore, even though the cannabis he was working with had a CBD content of close to 20%, once he had rendered RSO from it, the non decarboxylated CBD count had to be negligible. I'm speculating of course, but the point is, unless we're missing something really important (totally possible), the oil wasn't what cured Rick Simpson's cancer.
If you read all that, the point was just that it's important that we argue about the right things. Otherwise you come out of a debate looking like an idiot and reinforcing all the things people think they know about cannabis consumers.

Well then, you admit yourself that it is a medicine. Case closed...
And yes, I am great fun at parties! 😂

Easy answer to this... Are pothead stoners healthier in any way to a non pothead? No. Therefore no it's not medicine.

I'm not a pot head. When I was forced to quit by the State after getting caught with weed and going on probation I quit cold turkey easily. I really did not notice it being out of my life, until stress and depression sprung up. I have MDD , chronic depression, I don't mope around, I get out and I try to beat it, ngl though it beats my ass most days. One hit of a THC pen has me in this state of being unbelievably LOCKED IN but zoned out, hard to explain. Like I will have an amazing in depth detailed conversation while buzzed to high, I can sit by myself and ENJOY whatever I am watching or reading. Marijuana, THC, immensely improves my quality of life. When I am not using Marijuana, (been sober for over 2 years now) I have to FIGHT every single day to be myself and not curl up and be in a melancholy mood at best, and a s*icidal mood at worse. I have tried medication, like SSRI's , Antidepressants, Supplements, REALLY good positive body transforming exercise for over a year...NOTHING helps, it is almost certainly biological but medicines make me feel worse because of the side effects. THC however, makes me feel ALIVE, it makes me feel like the real me. I know it sounds bad, but its true, like I said, I am sober and I do not plan on going back, it's too much of a hassle. I do not want to risk my freedom for it. However, I actively and openly support THC use for adults, kids and teens are still not developed enough to partake, and by that I mean the science says kids and teens are adversely affected mentally by extended THC use. But for Adults who only use it to feel that euphoria, that mellow high, I support it as a therapeutic medicine, hopefully one day the state I live in will legalize it medicinally or I can find a job in a legal state and improve my daily mood with access to THC.

I have chronic nausea and digestive pain. Lost 60 pounds in 2 months vomiting daily. The only thing that helped me was medical cannabis. I use it daily as a medication in doses that don't make me feel high, but take away my pain and nausea. It is a plant that should be utilized for those who need it. It isn't for everyone, but many people will see benefits in times of need. I specifically would say schizophrenic groups are the worst people to have THC because it makes their hallucinations more intense.

Weed can be in your system for months , long after the high has worn off , you can't easily tell if they smoked an hour ago or a weak ago.

    I agree with Berenson.
I've been an advocate for recreational legalization for my entire adult life. I smoked a few years from around 25-29ish until I had to come to terms that it just wasn't for me. I'm 41 and just in the last few weeks started smoking a couple hits before bed almost every night because it helps me sleep, but without getting too high.
I'm very pro recreational marijuana, but I agree with the point that Berenson is trying to make. Before recreational legalization in Nevada and California, I used to get So frustrated. It was So obvious that 'medical marijuana' was 95 percent about getting high recreationally (unless you count chronic sobriety as an illness). Medical Marijuana bills were passed, but instead of filling prescriptions at a pharmacy, you'd go to a dispensary. Instead of dealing with a pharmacist, you'd deal with young hipster 'bud tenders'. Instead of medical names, the 'medication' would have names like sour diesel, jet fuel, blue berry, etc. And CBD oil and other CBD products were almost impossible to find. And not because they were flying off the shelves, but because they weren't in demand enough to stock a lot.
Of course it has medical benefits. Hell, even alcohol, nicotine, and a variety of foods have medical benefits. And a good doctor can tell you what foods may help or what foods to avoid for certain conditions, the same way a good doctor can tell you marijuana may help with certain conditions without it being classified as 'medicine'. And let's even agree that marijuana has way more medical benefits than other substances. My main reason for legalization has always been because we're adults and we should be able to make our own decisions (especially with alcohol being not only legal, but pretty much glorified) and it's Very obvious that people use medical marijuana for recreational purposes. Berenson did say he doesnt support legalization, but does support decriminalization (I obviously disagree with that). But he also said he'd rather it be legal for recreational than pretending its all about the medical aspects. I totally agree with that.
