The Cursed Pershing is a weird one for me. I've never been able to do well in it and the main reason is the 90mm M3 cannon. Almost every match I manage to hit something side on and it either does nothing, or it will only knock out a crew member or two leaving the enemy tank to swing around and finish me off. On the other hand, when it does work... it works really well. The inconsistency puts me off.
The M26 is also pretty slow and doesn't get around the battlefield very quickly. It feels like a heavy tank but has the armour of a medium. It feels like I'm slouching to get to good positions early and then I'm flanked by much faster tanks already or fighting King Tigers head-to-head.
I don't think the M26 Pershing is a bad tank, I'm just driving a cursed Pershing.

The first upload of this video was scuffed but the second time round it seems fine! Thank you guys for your patience, you're amazing! I really hope this video was worth it. It took me 15 hours to make. I had the WORST experience doing it for lots of reasons. It truly has been a CURSE!

@@Puppy_kicker74 my personal favorite medium is the T-44. It's sooo good, i do better with it than the pershing. It has better mobility and armor, the gun is decent, and its at the same br.
@@emilgirginov9848 The pershing has a better gun (better penetration and shell velocity) with great a APHE shoot, it has 10 degrees of gun depression. unlike the t44, and it has better turret armor. So in my opinion that makes up for its lack of speed.

The pershing has a better gun, yes, but only by a couple of millimiters, which after playing both tanks for so long showed me that it makes no difference. Now, about the armor, the pershing can be easily penned by: tiger 1h, tiger 1e, tiger IIp, tiger IIh, panther D, panther A, panther II, jagpanther, ferdinand and basically all russian 122mm tanks. Even if you angle, long 88 will go trough the upper front plate or the turret ring. The T44 on the other hand. has amazing armor. Most tanks struggle to go through the front plate, since its 90mm thick and very sloped. If you angle the hull, nothing will go trough, even long 88, since the side hull armor is very thick as well. Their best bet is shooting the mantlet, which is 120mm thick (better armored), and way smaller and curved with exteme angles, unlike than the m26 mantlet, so most shots will simply bounce. The side of the turret is 100mm thick, so angle a bit and shots will just bounce off, while going trough the pershings turret is very easy, unlike with the t44. So your statement about the m26 having better armor is foolish. Let me also mention the very small silhouette of the tank, which makes it harder to hit or spot, and makes it easier to hide, while the m26 is quite tall and fat.
So let me sum it up:
T-44- berrer hull armor, better turret armor, better mantlet armor, better mobility, smaller silhouette.
M-26: a little bit better gun and depression but worse mobility, worse hull armor, worse turret armor, worse mantlet armor, big silhouette.
T-44 is just better, i have played both tanks for a long time, and i still do, so i know.
I am in no way saying that the M26 is a bad tank - NO! Its a great tank, but worse than the T-44.
Oh and also, the velocity is not bad at all and its very easy to aim!
And about the gun depression, yes it is worse, but i have never had problems with it, even on hills and uneven terrain. It is not that bad
@@Puppy_kicker74 oh and also adding to my comment, the only weakspot of the t44 which you have little chance of missing is the commander cupola. Its thick tho, so you can bounce.

The Pershing is my favorite tank. Both in Warthunder and in real life. Back when it was 6.7 against Tiger IIs and IS-2s, I was the one to pick the Pershing. While you needed APCR to shoot through the Tiger II (H)'s mantlet, its 90mm APHE round just slapped so hard when it penetrated and its quick reload just let you rake in kills if you got that perfect flank. Disintegrating whole flanks of Soviet and German tanks was my addiction :-)

Look at 29:29 Theres like 5 team mates doing nothing while your right there trying to repair right next to that Tiger. When I see that it just kills me. Great job with the m26. I swear those shots against the tiger were ghost shells. I seem to get lots of them

M26 is one of my favorite vehicles to play
The odd tiger barrel hit was because when he he thought you were about to fire he twerked his turret to the side to prevent you penning the turret front... just he twerked it the wrong way... it is a common defence tactic for tiger 2 drivers, as that flat front makes for poor armor.
I much prefer the T25, the short stabilizer is very useful, it accelerates a bit better and you can still bounce tiger 1, T3485 rounds and other weaker guns, plus it's at a lower BR
T25 is also weirdly bouncy with tanking shells, I've bounced long 88s up close very often for no reason. Maybe they didn't know where to shoot me.

Very satisfying to use a Content Creator using custom skins. If you ever get around to doing a Mirage vid, I hope you go ahead and use its skins as, it's got quite a few nice ones.

One of my favorite tanks. If I could get all the premium variants, I would. It functions well even in higher BRs, so I take it out with my M46 as a backup.
Some of the guys I squad with love it, I on the other hand not so much.

I love the super pershing but the regular one is beyond inconsistent. I cant believe Oxy thinks this tank is under rated. It cant brawl easily, the 90mm struggles big time with the tiger 2 and even panthers, its armour at the tier is basically non existent to most German guns and Russian guns... It is capable on some maps and it usable but I have bounced way too many rounds off flat 90° side plates to ever pick this up again. That shot you did on the Tiger 2, I felt that in my soul.
I've had pretty similar experiences in the pershing, which is a shame because it's one of my favourite tanks in the US line aesthetically. Still performs well with my play style but I agree with the points you made, other tanks do the things it can do better. I like to take it out in the simulator events where it's at the top of the BR - two spawns plus a plane guaranteed.
It's basically T-44 with worse armor and mobility, it just doesn't belong at 6.3 imo

I know that pain (Normandy, Tiger II H side).
Can sometimes stop HEAT or other higher-pen shells as well, same with the tracks on the turret. This is exactly why I wish Gaijin would go with a "point-cloud" (~3-4 points around the initial 'shell tip', which it uses to calculate how a shell behaves, rather than the current 1x1px shells).
Would mean better servers are necessary though, even if only moderate improvement, and they seem rather against improving their servers...
Was amusing to watch you kill the bulldog point blank with the .50 though :D

Tiny Tims you kinda have to aim just behind your target as they begin to drop immediately. Also got to pull up and away FAST as their blast is almost like a bomb more than a rocket. I love using them, but it sucks that they only ever come in just x2 and always fire as a pair. But aim them right and they kill pretty much anything at all.

Weird how its armor looks more sloped when viewing it from the front.
Also it amazes me how when viewing WT videos the enemies always seem to be oblivious or caught off-guard by the player, but whenever I play everyone always knows where I am. Makes me feel like there's a "screw this guy specifically" sign always high above me.

Anyway, yeah. I've been mostly playing Arcade too, since my spatial awareness is really crap and I'm always having trouble spotting "that one odd pixel in the bush 2km away".
One thing that I do dislike in Arcade GF is that I want to fly some planes against tanks, but I want to play MY planes and without a time limit. Plus the spawn spots for planes in Arcade are a joke. Oh you want to play a bomber? Here's 3 enemy fighters spawning right behind you too! THAT'S FUN, RIGHT?
@@Sheppart92 Usually when I see 2 or 3 fighters are spawning on the enemy team I just want to J out, because honestly, what's the point of even trying? A single bullet can whizz a kilometer away from me and my pilot dies from a heart attack anyway and high tier bombers don't even have tail gunners. But the most insulting part is the game awards your kill to the nearest enemy plane before they even fire a single shot at you if you try to J out.
total agree with your 90mm nerf, plus you faced a sla 16 premium meaning gaijin ptw magic bouncing, shell disapearing tanks
I’ve had this too, but weirdly enough this only happens just like in your video when you shoot through a brick pole/wall and you hit the tank but it doesn’t pen, it seems to reduce the penetration by something like 95%, I even shot through a wall with my M26 hit an M18 hellcats upper plate and it non penned!!? I do think this is a bug perhaps specific to some vehicles
all the 90mm suffer from this even the Japanese ones

I work full time and have a wife (both of which have demands on my time) and whilst it’s awesome that you’re pumping out loads of content (and I want to watch it all), I just can’t commit to 40 mins of TH-cam. I know this is obviously my problem not yours but I just hoped it would be constructive. Keep up the good work dude - you’re smashing it.

Yeah I've been having problems with penning using the Pershing , I've shot multiple times in tanks weak spots or side shots and even frontal shots with non pens or rounds going ghost a lot a with this tank
I appreciate the video odd. I know a lot of people hate the m26. It's really not a good tank for it's BR. I just love the turd since I played a lot of games like RUSE and company of heroes where the M26 was the big boy American tank as I was growing up. And for my birthday none the less.

IDK i personally like the pershing for its a somewhat maueverable tank with a good reverse gear as well as the 90 mil which compared to the 76 is a good gun I never have problems against penning german tanks as they all have their weakspots(turret cheek panther and Tiger 2 and front plate tiger) I usually bring it as a either first spawn or backup for the bulldog or Super pershing which are my usual first spawns
Fun fact about the super Pershing there were 25 built and two of the super Pershings were modified
I've had the SAME PROBLEM with 90mms with the Breda 501. I love that stupid vehicle but the cannon fails all the time. It's got like 140-160mm of pen and will bounce off the front of a sherman and if you miss/bounce once, your entire run is over because you can't drive away fast, and you can't neutral turn.
that 90mm is basically a better KwK 36. Granted, at a higher BR but if it penetrates....not much will be left.
I think the vanilla Pershing should be 6.0 and be labeled a heavy tank as it was in ww2
There should be hitboxes for the barrels as well, so you cant shove your barrel inside another tanks turret. If you can't get a bead on someone cause your barrel hits their tank, then so be it. My 5 cents

i think all the 90 mm are hinky the whole hit detection seems a bit screwy i have been getting a lot of ghost shells that just disappear great video Bawz the two bearcats were a couple of my favs back before the tanks were even a thing great little flyer
Personally, I do alright in the vanilla pershing, but alright for me is half the k/d that odd gets. I find the armor to actually be quite survivable as long as you can still maneuver for angling.

Personally I find the M26’s armour to be extremely good as I regularly brawl against tigers and panthers and 78% of the times their rounds just bounce off harmlessly

Funny thing regarding the 90mm not reliably penetrating the Tigerfamily is, that that´s exactly what happened in WWII.
Not these flat 90 degree shots though.
I agree that the 90mm is too nerfed. that was a perfect ammo-rack shot on that tiger that I've made dozens of times with a 76mm. The track armor is nowhere close enough to make that big of a difference. The 90mm was picked specifically to counter the increasing armor values of contemporary German armor in case they were able to produce them in significant numbers, and it would never have been fielded if it couldn't do that.

Eh. I don’t like playing the pershing. It’s slow, and i feel like I still get one shot by just about everything. The 90mm also isn’t reliable. There was an RU-251 lining up to shoot me from about 200m away and my shot just didn’t pen the mantle. Insanely frustrating.

you should use the t25, a bit less armour than the pershing but the same gun and a gyrostabilizer

I actually thing the acceleration on the Pershing is bugged. If you keep an eye on the gear, it jumps instantly up to gear 5. and if you leave it on manual, gears 1-4 have the same top speed. I don't know where gaijin got the gear data from, but it seems quite wrong.
One time I fought of probably 5 enemies at long range and bounced like 40 rounds before I died
You should try the german 7.0 M48 but only with APHE. It will be fun

You should play the Italian Pershing.
They really ought to move the M26 down a BR step, and bring the T25 back to 5.7 where it belongs. In most ways I find the Panther to be a far superior tank, especially because of the gun and hull armor.

I think the M26 is over tiered a bit. Vanilla Pershing is basically a Tiger H1 with worse reload. I think the performance of the 90mm is a bug though. Ive been getting a lot of weird ricochets with all my tanks lately on shots that should penetrate.
Did you know that the 90mm will not detonate when penetrate IS-2 cupola but the 76mm can?
And yeah, paper tank and slow as hell, anything can pen you regardless of angle. I even got pen by a T-34-85 from the front. This is why I prefer the M46 over this.

M26 is bad because it's not decent at anything compared to the other 90mm options

So odd may be on to something about the nerf, the American m26 top pens at 175mm 0° 10m but the Italian m26 top pens at 185mm 0° 10m. I'm no tank expert but there's no way they should be that different from each other especially when they share the same br
