Hey Nor Cal, i have a Hoshizaki km cuber and its running thru the sequence but its short on freeze time, like 5 to 10 minutes. tiny ice cubes. i can see that its loosing water down the drain in freeze mode, thru the sump or the pump out valve, im not sure? any suggestions sir?
I work on these often. I see the ice plates lift away from the evaporator, the bin stat goes south, debris in the ice size control spring diaphragm, hot gas defrost valve goes bad......pieces of broken ice breaker in the impeller ..... jamming the motor...there are others but these are common.
i keep a 24v 40va transformer set up with a plug on the end of the high voltage. this allows me to test a gas valve, solenoid or anything that needs 24v for power.
I recommend u use a 75 va they have a circuit breaker on them. Or u gonna go thru alot of 40 va transformers or fuses. I only use & stock 75 va's for everything. Only stock one part use it for everything. More efficient. More power. Wayy better. Has circuit breaker. Any issue in future just re-set circuit breaker and troubleshoot. Wayy better.
If my memory serves me correctly. Those hoshi water solenoids are line voltage. 115 volt on that one. Relay on the board just took a shit. U could possibly give the relay a good smack on the top of it with the back side of a screw driver but, that will only get u a few days till the new board comes in.
Wow set unit and hoshi crap-out board. I have un-plugged them spray electronic cleaner and plug back in work fine. I have done this more than once Dave. They were stack units by front door of store, so got dirty for wind blowing dust inside ..

I turn the machine on with an empty sump, the machine starts it's 1 min fill cycle, I have 120v on water valve, but it's not stopping. The water valve is staying energized, I checked float switch and rubber housing. All ok, switch is in the up position and closed. Still filling with water. Bad control board is my thought?
Great video dave. I was working on a KM1300 tonight. It goes into harvest as soon as the 5 minute lockout is over. I think I’m losing water through the pump out check valve but they ran the condensate line through the wall and no one knows where it’s terminated. I came to this conclusion because as checked continuity on the float switch as soon as the 5 minute lock out end and the switch was closed. I’d be curious to know your thoughts as I don’t work on too many ice machines.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C I pulled the spring and stop and cleaned it. The spring has a lot of play in it. A couple of month ago I found plastic from the cube diverter tray in the body preventing the stop from filling seating. Bummer is that only distributor in dc area is almost 2 hours away. Is there a way to block check valve temporarily to prevent excessive water loss during the freeze cycle so I can at least get them ice? Basin is full and overflowing by the end of initial harvest cycle btw. Thanks
hi i have the same machine if i leave the machine all night next day i see building ice look like didnt drup the ice after i clean the ice with hot water it work good but next day isee the same problem the hot defrost when start dropping ice one section hot but other section not hot its normal tempruture but still drop the ice only problem next day happened we call company till now cannot figue whats problem he clean the dust now want wash the unit with chemical look like dont know anything the time of dropping the ice less than 30 second i think i am confusing missing gas or gas valve not open sometime confusing
1 check for evaporator separation. 2 float operation 3 hot gas valve operation Need to watch 2-3 cycles complete will take 1 1/2 to hours to do this. Confirm operation of harvest cycle , and all ice comes off evaporator before next freeze cycle. There should be a ur code on machine which will give you the manual in there is a freeze up check list. Hope that helps you in finding the issue
Pizza joints are the hardest on their equipment. The back of the condenser of a pizza joint ice machine I worked on was like a WALL. Zero air flow through that bad boy. Shop vac with bristle brush attachment works wonders. We clean them once per month.

Kevin Carter pull the wires dose it stop? If yes. Then the relay on the board might be stuck.

Chris Adams-Easkold see if sump empty’s, then you know it’s pumping out the dump valve.

Chris Adams-Easkold sounds like dump valve kit time. Or see if it has scale in the diaphragm. You can clean those out sometimes.
