Hoshizaki ice machine not making ice

Here’s a service call on a Hoshizaki ice machine. Customer informed me unit is beeping 3 times and not making ice. After inspecting unit I found the head pressure was higher than normal. Blew out condenser and head pressure dropped. Also, this unit is in a snack bar with an ambient temperature of 98 degrees. Quoted customer with new ice maker as this one is 17 years old.

Hoshizakis do take a long time to produce ice yes but even on the most clapped machine i've seen they take 25-30 max. That thing is starving for refrigerant and you can even see it has the TXV wide open if it has one and by the roasting hot compressor. 70 degrees or 100 degrees will only make a 5-10 minute ice product difference and won't hurt the machine much. I've seen a manitowoc perfectly content in a 85-90 degree kitchen sucking in 95-100 air cranking out ice every 10-12 minutes.

hi sir i have hoshizaki ice machine model km 515-mrh wont making ice its a remote condenser i check the lp is about 66 psi and the hp around 250psi what is the correct pressure for lp and hp and the rla of compressor is 9.7amps

I just did one today with a dirty condenser and my pressures where at 350 high side low side was at 40 . I use a subco porta blaster that thing works amazing my high side went down to 260and made ice in 34 min before cleaned it would take 50min

Your condemming it too soon.need chem wash on condenser coil.turn on room cooler.then give your thorough diagnosis.make a good ambient air temp in room.

Yeah, this call was a while ago I’m not sure if we had gone back and done a full cleaning on the unit
