    Great job. Very informative. The absolute BEST thing I learned from this video is that when I buy my Blackstone (within a month or so) I will use the two most popular items in my toolbox to assemble and convert to natural gas. Those two items are a credit card and a phone. Thank you for sharing!

    Thanks for the easy to follow demonstration! I'm converting mine to NG after having it for a year. Was a little intimidated but looks fairly straight forward.

    This video was perfect. Your instructions were clearer than the instruction books. Took me a while longer because the regulator would not loosen and I was afraid I was going to bend the supply pipe, but it all came together and I am very pleased. Thanks again

    This is more work than anticipated. I was hoping when removing the knobs, i would be able to to remove the orfices from the front instead of taking that heavy top off.
    Thanks for the video

    Great video thank you. My Weber is a 1/2" natural gas line, and I didn't realize the size difference until today. So now I'm trying to figure out how to convert the 3/8" Blackstone line to 1/2". The griddle conversion was smooth sailing. I wasn't anticipating the line size difference. Always something!

      I am going to put in a “y” connection. One 1/2” for my weber and the other side will be 3/8” for the blacksrone.

      The quick disconnect portion is universal, so all you need to do is stub up your 1/2" gas line and top with a 1/2" female to quick disconnect piece and you're set. The 3/8" 10' conversion hose that you'll get for your grill will plug into the quick disconnect regardless of gas pipe size coming from your house.

    I have a Blackstone 36" griddle, a Weber Spirit II gas grill and a 23 tip jet burner for my 60 quart pot all converted to natural gas. Best move you can make if you have natural gas at your home. Lucky for me I didn't have to hire my gas work out because I'm a gas and steam pipe fitter. Also I have done many conversions from LP to natural and vice versa on gas fired boilers and industrial water heaters. On these outdoor home appliances it's very easy to do with the kit and some common sense. Just watch some videos such as this one and follow the instructions on the kit. A word of caution, don't over tighten the orifices. They will break. Snug is all that's necessary. I don't recommend the use of white Teflon tape on orifices. If you feel you must use something use a very small amount of an approved pipe dope being careful to not block any part of the hole in the orifice. Good luck!

    Nice! My grill is coming in two days. My BBQ is hooked up to natural gas, don’t want to swap them out. If anything, I would use LP for the BS and convert at a later date if i make that swap, but it seems like it’s best to do the conversion as you’re putting the BS together. Decisions, decisions. 😅

    If you go from the bottom you can use the wrench in the other orientation, allowing to achieve the torque you need without using pliers. Also, brass to brass doesn't require thread tape or putty but it's a good insurance policy and peace of mind to use it.

    You overlooked pipe dope for the orfice's. Must be rated for 400 degrees F or above. I wound up putting a pipe cleaner in the orfice before applying pipe dope.
    You can use a thin shank screwdriver to create a handle for the wrench.
    Had to use hematite to install the orfice's seems that the installation of the burners is not standard as my wiring was in the way.
    Blackstone needs to offer different lengths of hose and should consider allowing the main gas connection on the griddle to be moved to the right side.
    The other option would be to offer an extension with a 90 degree elbow to run the flex hose behind the grill.
    In my situation I need to install a quick connect to grill as my unit is on a concrete patio and am concerned that squirrels or mice may nibble on the line not to mention lawn service might damage it.

    • @bonfigliothomas425
      @bonfigliothomas425 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@texastech00 Did you purchase the NG conversion kit? If not you didn't change out the Jets from factory LP (propane) to Natural Gas Jets in the kit.
      If you put NG rated pipe dope on the threads I would suspect that some material may have covered the orifice which would restrict gas flow.
      Remove the griddle top and light the burners one at a time. Rotate the burner knob and check the flame. If you have a weak flame it indicates a partial blockage. If no flame its blocked.
      You need to get a thin piece of solid wire to clear the hole.
      Worse case is to remove the jet to check if pipe dope is in the supply pipe of the valve.
      Hope this helps.

  • @KLUJICS

    Overall good video and great tips. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I observed a few things and it's mostly personal opinion. I just assembled a 28" "one-man show," cook top and all.
    I wondered if you could use a metric socket extension for the orifice removal tool?
    Also, you didn't use any pipe dope for the griddle nipple/threads when threading the natural gas hose?
    The ignitor wires are a great tip to remember when re-installing the burners.
    No big deal and obviously yours worked.
    The adjustable pliers seemed cumbersome, and the those screws are all "baked-on" to the finish. They all pop when you loosen.
    Thanks again for sharing! Enjoy your Blackstone!

      No need for pipe dope for compression fittings if gas leaks that means you didn't thread it right or tighten enough

    • @cleophusfowler
      @cleophusfowler 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know this is an old comment but for educational purposes you don't use pipe dope or tape on flare fittings such as these. Also these are not compression fittings, they are flare fittings. Compression fittings use a ferrell and are not approved for gas, however flare and compression fittings both are not thread sealing fittings so therefore dope is not required. Tape can actually cause a leak if used on a flare fitting if it gets between the pipe and the flare because the flare is the seal, NOT the threads. Also white teflon tape is not approved for gas anyway. You must use the yellow tape but I recommend using dope for gas on thread sealing pipe fittings NOT on flare fittings. I'm a retired gas and steam pipe fitter for well over 40 years. Hope this helps.

      Ged Talk the end of the hose that comes with the kit will snap into the coupling at the end of the gas line the plumber runs. You NEED to hire a certified plumber to run the gas pipe out to your grilling area.

    • @jcbecker2800

      you have to change the orifices. LP has a higher pressure than natural gas, so the orifices have to have a larger hole in them. LP gas does have a higher BTU rating as well.

    • @cleophusfowler
      @cleophusfowler 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No regulator needed. Natural gas is already regulated at the meter unless you are on a 2lb. system. If you don't know how to tell you will need a gas fitter to come out and test but the vast majority of residential homes are low pressure and regulated at the meter. Usually 5 to 7 inches water column which is 0.180456 psi or just under 3 ounces of pressure for 5 inches water column so therefore a 2lb. system is considered high pressure for gas and would need to be regulated at the appliance. In my application no regulator needed.
