    I honestly love the idea of having a outdoor grittle. Its to bad that its kinda an uneven cook surface, but i think i cpuld get used to it tbh

    You can purchase wind guards for the sides which cut down on heat escaping. I got my first Blackstone in 2016 and am still using it! Love it!

    The side wind item, there is a 3rd party accessory that i recomend getting. It helps hold in the heat and that also helps with the distribution of the heat.
    Big con for me is not having the grill marks and that i cant get the "right" char taste on my veggies for salas lol.

    Bought a Flatrock, and it's great. Initial seasoning is a bit rough - the steel they use is really coarse and shredded my paper towels to bits while spreading the oil. Otherwise, now that the initial seasoning is done, it's been a rockstar. Amazingly even heating, right out to the edges (very far back corners are usually about ~20 degrees cooler). I've been very happy with it, and i've made some really great smashburgers. Looking forward to making more meals in the future!

    I love my Blackstone I just purchased a 36” omnivore griddle at a killer price brand new on fb marketplace. I also have a 28” and a 22”. I would never go with the 17” because I is only
    One burner with the others you can keep burners off and use that area as a warming zone for foods that get done before the rest of the food. Additionally the chance of a fire is almost eliminated using a griddle over a grill where grill fires are fairly common. Love blackstone!

  • @yoster77
    @yoster77 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Interesting the perspective of size. For me, the 36" is bare minimum size-wise that I'd want. Then again I'm used to full teppanyaki size surfaces. The 36" just isn't quite large enough for me to stage my food as I prefer. I make it work of course, but I could still use more room. It's not about how many people you're cooking for (in my case). Also the deadzone for me is a huge pro. My perfect griddle is a large center hot spot, that's it. Everything around the outside is cooler. But again, this is just me preferring the commercial/restaurant teppanyaki grill design lol. Your 2nd con (heat leaking around the sides) is spot on!

    I have one but will be going back to a grill when it plays out. You can’t keep them from rusting and it’s basically like cooking on a skillet outside. You don’t get the taste of grilled food like you do with a traditional grill.

    • @DMac-gh7cy
      @DMac-gh7cy 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Blackstone is the brand I'm looking to buy. I think I'm going to get the 4 burner 36 (or is it 38?) My kids have the smaller "travel size" Blackstone. After seeing them cook on it on a recent camping trip we took, I knew it was time to upgrade.

    You know I bought a 2310 on Sunday and it has a problem and I emailed tech support on Sunday, I did register the griddle, I tried to call today and after 30 min on hold it disconnected me and I tried the on line chat and the bot said let me get you a rep, and after a fair amount of time the bot said nobody's there and we will email you, So from my point of view the Customer service is horrible, I am going to try first thing tomorrow morning and if I still cannot get any assistance that griddle will be going back to the store and Ill buy a different brand.

    I had one and loved the idea and results of a griddle. BLACKSTONE doesn’t seem to make a sturdy product. Shelves and stand are flimsy and rust starts within months even if it’s not the cooking surface the griddle frame, stand and screws begin rusting. May look at the new Weber Slate or Traeger Flatrock.

    • @david.ledbetter
      @david.ledbetter  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is for very direct heat cooking and searing. I can’t imagine it would work for a whole chicken, as a majority of the heat is not circulation around the food, but rather coming up directly from the steel griddle

    Carbon steel and cast iron 😚

  • @joelthomas3823
    @joelthomas3823 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Blackstone grills should be classified as a scam for what they cost and lack in performance.
    Very cheap cast iron coated Chinese metal that rusts terribly the first time used.. You could spend a lot on cleaning / seasoning products and wear yourself out trying to keep it seasoned/ oiled, rust free.. you'll cook on it for an hour but maintaining it takes hours... And I'm not going to oil this thing a few times a week forever.
    you don't get any flavor off of these to benefit.. I think for what you get, they're one of the bigger wastes of money when it comes to outdoor grilling...

    Blackstone’s first generation was HORRIBLE! Messy clean up due to the poor design for getting rid of the grease. No “hole”, just a “channel” at the front and grease would spill. Big improvement with these newer models.

    Blackstone is over-priced, mass-produced "garbage", period! Buy one, a 36" one, like I did, and you'll find out the hard way. Flimsy taped boxes of hardware, busted into pieces, nuts and bolts scattered and missing outright, acorn nuts that don't even clear the side walls for the castors (poor machining), what a freakin' joke! Do your homework people! You can buy superior griddles at significantly lower prices. Mine went back in shambles and within minutes.

    @JJ9er 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I love my comically large, 36-inch Blackstone. lol Find it a bit weird that you somewhat alienated anyone watching this who went for the 36 instead of the 28. That being said, while I don't anticipate needing to cook 126 hot dogs at one time, I do the same and cook for my family and my wife and I's extended family as well. Not to mention we host a lot of parties and get togethers with good friends and having a larger surface allows me to cook more at one time and not have to get all the food done in stages. That and we all love big breakfast, this thing has opened up my ability to do what I want. Just saying, while the 28 might have been enough, I love the 4 burners, extras space for cold and hot zones, and everything else about it.
