100 percent. although we need to careful with vegetables and identify which ones are safe, safe volumes/quantities, and how to best prepare/cook them. dr. cywes recommends their semi-elimination simply as a way of being prudent and avoiding vegetable-based antigens that may trigger our IBD inflammation.

Colonoscopies cause flares in some with UC!! Its because of peroxide which they sometimes use for sterilization and UC is partially caused by an oxidative effect so that can trigger a flare. I wont be getting them again either. There are alternatives if you feel you need something.

I fell off keto for the last year or so, but was on keto strictly for 2 years solid before that. My stomach issues were gone during that period and I didn’t even notice. Things have been pretty bad since going off keto and I figured out I’ve got all the same issues as my dad. I’ve been back on keto for a couple months and it’s already starting to get a little better. It’s miserable having flared ups all the time and feeling sick and tired. I did long stretches of carnivore during keto too and never had any problems. If anything, bowel movements were better and more regular. It’s also awesome to hear a doctor say you’re gonna get the shits haha. This inspires me to stick with it though. Thanks Doc
I really respect Dr. Cywes and the wealth of information he provides. But I have to admit, a carnivorous diet led to severe constipation for me. The only thing that helped was psyllium husk fibre. I think it's different for different people. I think some ethnic groups handle fibre well and even benefit from it
My daughter is 10. We’re at the historical now due to covid exacerbating her UC which has not been under control over the last four months. She fasted while on TPN for about 4 days. Dr Cywes, thank you for all the information you give us. I live in Australia and my health issues have plagued me my whole life. Asthma, auto immune and migraines. A few years back I had issues with my bowel and became incontinent for two years. I also had a problem with mouth/ tongue liaisons. I recently had severe abdominal attacks and at first was told it was diverticulitis. Antibiotics didn’t help and a CT scan showed Ulcerative Colitis. I was then given steroid and it improved. I had further attacks and again steroids were given. I have also an inflamed and fatty liver. While I was waiting for a Colonoscopy, I went back to keto and took out all grains, starches, nuts, seeds, dairy and fructose. I had the colonoscopy and it was clear, and told I do not have ulcerative colitis. The doctor dismissed my diet changes. I believe I put it in to remission with keto / carnivore. I am due to start biologics for the spondylitis as it is not improving even with these changes. I have come off asthma meds due to taking high levels of Vit D. Still working on migraines and really would like to stop Botox and steroids blocks, If only you did consults to overseas clients. Thank you once again Carol Anne Ashlee
Two things - 1) I think the condition running in families might not just be genetic, it may also be down to inherited gut flora from the mother's birth canal and breast milk 2) Doesn't the issue with plant fibre just add more weight to the argument that homo sapiens sapiens are carnivores and opportunistic omnivores who's biology is just not suited to the massive environmental availability of plant foods due to modern agriculture and shipping/transport? I am Scottish and there is almost no edible plant material that grows in the wild here and for many months of the year there is none at all. My ancestors did, however, hunt three large mammals to extinction for their meat (European brown bear, elk and wild boar).
My mom was on antibiotics for mastitis while I was breastfeeding and I'm convinced this is why I have UC. No one else in my family has ever been diagnosed with UC or Crohns
@@robertcywes2966 Fun fact: I have an older brother who was born to my parents when they were very young and they couldn't look after him so sadly they put him up for adoption. Years later he tracked down his biological parents (my parents) and we learned that he had crohns disease since he was around 13 and I later developed ulcerative colitis at the age of 27. So we both shared biological parents and genetics but grew up most likely in different environments with varying diets but both ended up with some form of IBD.

How can I get the medication list that I need to cleanse me before I start this way of eating? I have had UC going on 2 years and I am ready to be cured!!
Cut out eggs and milk. They are technically carnivore but they are highly allergenic foods and typically clinics that put patients on carnivore tell them no eggs or milk because it is safer to assume they are a problem than assuming because the patient does not detect any immediate responses that they are ok. Once you are more sensitive to bad foods (say after 3 months on carnivore) then try adding back in a bit of egg or milk, any bad reaction in mouth or digestion then keep away from them,
To help prevent ulcerative colitis flares and keep you in remission, the CCFA suggests that you: 👍Exercise regularly. Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet while avoiding any food-related triggers. Don't smoke. Reduce stress. Follow the treatment plan and other guidelines prescribed by your doctor.
I've heard and read several times that fiber is bad for people who suffer from UC. Does this mean that supplements like Metamucil (psyllium husk fiber) are bad to take? I had amazing results after taking Metamucil once daily, but after about 10 months, had a severe flare. Is it possible that Metamucil was a contributor to that?
Doesnt dairy cause IGF-1 around blood, promoting cancer? My family is known for IBS, Colitis and all that, and dairy messes us all up. My dad had bad colitis, and dairy gives me the biggest pressure in the scrotum/lower ab area. Real dairy, yogurts and cream, cheese.
My son is 17 and suffering right now almost 2 months 😞 we started the diet 2 weeks ago but just a little improvement. He is also taking supplements, could be the caused of not getting well? 😢
Lot of people on carnivore diet mention that they are sick all the time with cold and flu, especially those with lactose intolerance. Do you have to take probiotics in order to keep away from flu and things like that? To have some sort of immune system when eating only meat and eggs?
Please give links to the studies you have done to substantiate your claims about a carnivorous diet, especially red meat. Numerous published studies show red meat increases inflammation. I think you are giving misleading information
This is NOT true! Dr Ken Berry refutes this lie and has tons of studies to reference, check his channel. This whole thing about red meat causing inflammation is just so much propaganda!! Please research the facts!!

This applies to Crohns too. Not convinced you need to cut veg alrogether but starch/grains definitely. IF the single most important thing in my opinion

@@robertcywes2966 please guide me I'm also suffering from uc
Fantastic doctor
Thank you so very, very much, Dr. Cywes! My bf was just dx with severe UC. This is very helpful!
I have put off colonoscopy appointments 3 times this year at the Gastro clinic and now I've decided I will never darken their door again. The Doc mentions "take more fiber" every time I went in....no more! I've had 3 Colonoscopies and never a polyp was found nor removed, at 74 I'm done! I now know MMM&E is the answer and will keep me healthy.
Colonoscopies cause flares in some with UC!! Its because of peroxide which they sometimes use for sterilization and UC is partially caused by an oxidative effect so that can trigger a flare.
I wont be getting them again either. There are alternatives if you feel you need something.
@DrCywesCarbAddictionDoc
Hello big fan of your work. Wish we had more Doctors like you in the world. My wife has had UC for 6 years and is now has gone carnivore. But wish we could have some guidance and antibiotics to help with the flare ups. Do you know of anyone in the Charlotte area. Have a blessed day
That is a horrible idea giving somebody antibiotics, that actually is what caused me to have a major flare. Antifungal, maybe.
Fabulous news!! I’m really keen to also hear a video on Crohns Disease. I’ve suffered for 35 terrible yrs with this. I’m on my way almost to full carnivore. But still in an awful flare of about 4 months now.
How are you now Amanda hope you are better, are you still on the carnivore diet.
I saw on Josh Rogan,he had severe diarrhea for 2 weeks after starting carnivore diet
Is this something you had? and is it common?
I'm desperate for relief and ready to start but worried about that aspect
I think some ethnic groups handle fibre well and even benefit from it
Only non humans NEED fibre. Often xs cheese results in constipation.
@@robertcywes2966 I have UC and my doctor told me to get metamucil to clear out the mucus. TMI !
My doctor just told me to get some of that..
What is your ethnicity?
It can be caused by too much or too little fats, you can research carnivore channels to see ( I cant remember which it is)
My daughter is 10. We’re at the historical now due to covid exacerbating her UC which has not been under control over the last four months.
She fasted while on TPN for about 4 days. We started referring with bone broth and animal protein. She is now in no pain, had a dramatic reduction in BMs. They STILL want to cut her colon out!
Ask for an update if you’d like.
Hey how’s it going ? Praying for your daughter! I know personally how difficult this disease can be. Praying for you as a parent as well. Be strong. God bless you.
Thanks
While I was waiting for a Colonoscopy,
I went back to keto and took out all grains, starches, nuts, seeds, dairy and fructose.
I had the colonoscopy and it was clear,
and told I do not have ulcerative colitis.
The doctor dismissed my diet changes.
I believe I put it in to remission with keto / carnivore.
I am due to start biologics for the spondylitis as it is not improving even with these changes.
I have come off asthma meds due to taking high levels of Vit D.
Still working on migraines and really would like to stop Botox and steroids blocks,
If only you did consults to overseas clients.
Thank you once again

Can you eat any potatoes? Lettuce with is carnivore?
Thank you so much for this video
Ha! Don't put thistle-eaters in the human category! Love Scotland, but not on the rugby field
My mom was on antibiotics for mastitis while I was breastfeeding and I'm convinced this is why I have UC. No one else in my family has ever been diagnosed with UC or Crohns
@@jesseholshouser400 have you tried carnivore?
@@u4ea70 Not carnivore, but I did the ketogenic diet for about 3 months with good results
Acacia Senegal plus curcumin piperine will support long remission too
Doc, don't terrible diets run in families as well?
Oh yes
@@robertcywes2966 Fun fact: I have an older brother who was born to my parents when they were very young and they couldn't look after him so sadly they put him up for adoption. Years later he tracked down his biological parents (my parents) and we learned that he had crohns disease since he was around 13 and I later developed ulcerative colitis at the age of 27. So we both shared biological parents and genetics but grew up most likely in different environments with varying diets but both ended up with some form of IBD.
I ate super healthy my entire life - I got uc bc awful gut bug eating and barely rye bread on accident and I’m allergic or something plus huge stress etc. I’m getting off of mesalamine if I can. I got it at 45 yo!!! Agh. I’m healing this
This is what I’ve been looking for
At 16 my son nearly died from loss of blood. UC doc said NOTHING about diet! I asked! Just extremely expensive medicine! After insurance my copay was 700 a month! I started ordering a 3 month supply from Canada for 300! Interesting!
Put him on Carnivore!
Was diagnosed with UC last Christmas. Several terrible flares between October-February. Doctor said eat what you want, add more fiber, and take drugs. I went the natural route with carnivore diet, low dose naltrexone and serum bovine immunoglobulin…and lots of prayer and fasting at the start. I’m cured, feeling great. Will go off supplements slowly. Spore based probiotics actually did help me.
I’ve had UC for last 18 years . I had a total colectomy in 2006 .I have managed with a simple , all natural diet , fish, vegetables , avocados , Nuts no fruits , little dairy . I think I will try the carnivore diet . Wish I would have known the Bendicts for UC patients many years before . You mentioned the OMAD diet and that it’s good for the colon to rest eating this way . Being that I don’t have a colon , but suffer from pouchitis , what would be the best way to eat for me .? Do i benefit from OMAD? I usually do intermittent fasting 18-6 . Thank you for all your inspiring information
I went low carb to keto to carnivore over 6 months, while I was waiting for a Colonoscopy.
The colonoscopy has been postponed due to a blood clot.
The UC has Definitely improved, along with a reverse of fatty liver.
would love some follow-up content on ulcerative colitis/crohn's disease re: mechanisms of excess inflammation driven by excess adiposity (particularly visceral fat), i.e. body fat's role as an endocrinological organ as it relates to inflammatory processes; also interesting would be mechanisms of action in dampening inflammation through fasting or fasting-mimicking protocols. cheers.
I have never in my life felt better than when I'm eating lots of red meat!🐄🥩 (UC GONE!!!)
Meat heals!...♥️
were you on medication when you started eating carnivore?
How long did it take you to heal? Im a UC sufferer. Life is hard!
@@goranh2357 you have to change your diet completely, no sugar, no bread no processed foods, carnivore has helped me greatly, i do have RAW milk.
@@eddkennedy6458 I did exactly that, now I have my life back. Im not fully healed but I am a different man now. Healthy. Thanks.
What about akkermansia? Carnivore will destroy it. I know from experience. Carnivore made my gut inflammation worse, even tho the meat was fatty and grass fed.
Thank you Dr.!
Please do a video on what causes "diverticulosis," and how to stop the progression of it.
Doc - could you please write down what antibiotics and other medication 💊 you prescribed your UC patients to remove the fiber-related bacteria? I am during my flare-up and would like to try out the carnivore diet + antibiotics to completely reset my microbiome.

what's an example of a "well balanced" carnivore diet?
Thank you for this video🙏 wish it was out when I first got diagnosed. Now in remission from Carnivore diet. Question is , would you recommend OMAD for a breastfeeding mother ? Thank you so much !
On google it says its dangerous for breast feeding moms and can be life threatening. 😳

I've gone mostly carnivore plus some fruits and it helped a lot. And of course everytime I feel better my addiction to sugar and starch creeps in lol. Vicious cycle
Thank you, Dr! Have you heard of these supplements called Ancestral grass fed beef organs and intestines?
Would this work for someone who has removed their colon completely and lives with a JPouch? Also if they have a pancreatic divisum would too much fat and meat make way for more pancreatitis attacks? Please help
Yes, I saw an interview with Dr Ken Berry.
That include nuts?
How do I get a carnivore diet list?
Eat meat, mostly beef or lamb fatty cuts add salt to taste, drink water. Eggs, butter and hard cheese if you can tolerate.
Thx you for your wonderful video I’ve been on the carnivore diet for a few months I am trying to get myUC in remission. What are the exact antifungal & antibiotics that I should have my doctor prescribe for me to help get me out of a UC flare up. Also is taking prebiotic fiber and Psyllium husks bad for UC? It does seem to help with regulating and cutting down the amount of bathroom trips.
How can I get the medication list that I need to cleanse me before I start this way of eating? I have had UC going on 2 years and I am ready to be cured!!
Why manganese ??
So what happens if the carnivore diet doesn’t work?
Cut out eggs and milk.
They are technically carnivore but they are highly allergenic foods and typically clinics that put patients on carnivore tell them no eggs or milk because it is safer to assume they are a problem than assuming because the patient does not detect any immediate responses that they are ok. Once you are more sensitive to bad foods (say after 3 months on carnivore) then try adding back in a bit of egg or milk, any bad reaction in mouth or digestion then keep away from them,
To help prevent ulcerative colitis flares and keep you in remission, the CCFA suggests that you:
👍Exercise regularly.
Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet while avoiding any food-related triggers.
Don't smoke.
Reduce stress.
Follow the treatment plan and other guidelines prescribed by your doctor.
Please explain to us what is in your opinion " healthy , well balanced diet " .

Yea wish it were that easy lol. There’s a lot more to it and everyone’s different.
YES!!!
Plz how we can make difference between crohn and uc without coloscopie and biopsy
You can't if both are only in colon.
What u mean by macro and micro fibers ???
Fibre comes in soluble or micro form and insoluble or macro form
I have tried and was doing well and then.... .. histamine overload happened .. heartbeats etc and I haf to stop . So now what must I do
Maybe an electrolyte imbalance?
Doesnt dairy cause IGF-1 around blood, promoting cancer? My family is known for IBS, Colitis and all that, and dairy messes us all up. My dad had bad colitis, and dairy gives me the biggest pressure in the scrotum/lower ab area. Real dairy, yogurts and cream, cheese.
For some it does but not for all
My son is 17 and suffering right now almost 2 months 😞 we started the diet 2 weeks ago but just a little improvement. He is also taking supplements, could be the caused of not getting well? 😢
How is your son doing if you don’t mind my asking?
Which suppliment do you take
Is this true for IBS also?.
My IBS was cured overnight when I went animal-based. Life changing!
cipro!?
Every time a doctor says 'genetic cause' think in 'parasites cause'.
Goeie!
Lot of people on carnivore diet mention that they are sick all the time with cold and flu, especially those with lactose intolerance. Do you have to take probiotics in order to keep away from flu and things like that? To have some sort of immune system when eating only meat and eggs?
Most in carnivore are very healthy and rarely sick!
No ...answer ....
im in remission from a vegan diet. this sounds horrible
