The idea that beauty is vanity is simply stating that one cannot trust beauty because it’s not absolute. It is a finite thing that fades. Therefore it is not worthwhile as a foundation for worldview. It does not mean that it simply bad or negative when things are beautiful. God created beautiful things, but for the purpose of pleasure, not for the purpose of worship. We should enjoy the beautiful, but we shouldn’t think it is a worthwhile pursuit.
