    It looks like the left pin that keeps falling out has the holding pin on the opposite side of the L. The right side has that on the inner side of the L which may work better if it swivels when the trailer dumps .

    I bought a 10K, 6 X 12ft. Sure-trac dump trailer a month ago (Wake Forest, NC). Good video, but what I noticed on your vid. is the quickie security stuff you added to your trailer. The chains on the tires, and the locking cable on the spare. I went to Lowes got 7ft of 5/8 galvanized chain, a locking cable, and I feel a wee bit better about the security of my trailer.
    Thanks!

    Your missing the hitch pin retainers that go through the ramp lock pins. My Sure Trac had them when I bought it a few months ago and I haven't had the lamp holding pins slide. Good video and I love my 16 footer 14k Sure Trac also.

    You can’t keep it at your home? What! Also how are you charging for fuel? I have a diesel so I charge .50 a mile. So if someone lives 36 miles from me then my drop/pickup fee is $18 which I round to $20 then x2 = $40 in fuel. Then I have a dump charge which I charge for a full load it doesn’t matter if they throw 3 boxes back there they are getting charged the same cost as if they fill it up with bricks. With each customer you have no idea what they throw in there and how much you are going to weigh. I got burnt to many times before doing it this way. Our fees are nowhere the cost of yours so you may want to invest in scales to weight the trailer before leaving the customer so you know what to charge them. Also depending on location I charge between $150-200 a day for the trailer itself. Then if they want a more than 5 days I charge $100 a day. But most people do day rentals. Just curious about your pricing you may be undercutting yourself

    Out of your 33 loads, how many hours did it take you to do them? Of course on average. I have a 14ft dump trailer and I always like to break my profit down to the hour as if I punched a time card.

    • @romand123
      @romand123 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do the same. I’ve only had my Lamar 5x10 (with 4’ sides) for 6 months and have rented it 6 times. I charge a flat $220 for 48hrs and that includes delivery and hauling to the landfill. The dump fee is billed at $170/ton. On average I spend about 2 hrs from drop off, pickup and hauling off. If I could do one thing over I’d buy a galvanized 6x12.

    16k trailer gvwr plus your truck if your over 26k i think most places you need a Class A CDL. 14k keeps you under with a 12k gvwr a lot of 3/4 ton trucks have. You could get it underrated though i guess.

      Yup. I couldn't get over a 14,500 lb. trailer as my 3/4 ton is 11,550. Also if towing over 17k combined for business a medical card is needed. And if towing over 50 air miles from business base then a log book is required. Still no cdl as long as combined is 26k or under. At least that's how it is in PA.

    What Ford truck are you using to haul, engine size? Why I ask, because I want to start my dump trailer business with my old 2003 5.4L v8 fx4 1/2 ton truck. You or anyone think I can handle a 7x 14 dump trailer in an area with hills?

    • @RenovationsandRepair
      @RenovationsandRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      F150 but the trailer needs a larger truck. F450 is in its way.
      By towing weight your f150 would be illegal. Can it do it? Sure

    • @RenovationsandRepair
      @RenovationsandRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is nice but you will get more noise towing with a pintle hitch. More oscillation for going over obstacles as well. Not as common of a hitch so gives it a bit more security.

    Doesn't seem nearly worth it to me, all the equipment, work coming, going, cleaning, insurance, storage etc for $7kish a year in profit. Wow, depressing. I do draw inspections for mortgage companies, only need a vehicle, computer and phone to take photos, all of which I already had and last year I made $32k gross. Drive to the property, snap 20 or so photos, go home upload them and I'm done. Work maybe an hour or two a day including drive time on the days I work which was probably average 3.5 days a week last year. No insurance requirements either. Man I got it good and its a side gig on top of my full time Home Inspector job. I was thinking about this type of work too as something else to do with all my spare time but you kind of talked me out of it lol. I appreciate all the info though, thank you!

      The question is really does a dump trailer business scale nicely... Can this guy buy 9 more dump trailers and be pulling in 10x$7000 (assuming 33 dumps stays constant per trailer) a year with not a whole lot more effort? Can he logistically have 10 dump trailers being rented out constantly earning cash..

    You almost lost, or bent, a ramp. (those are the nicest ramps in the industry). You then showed how the pin had come free and let it slide out and then showed the Other pin and said it was "just fine". You can easily see @ 1:50 that it is Not just fine. It is in exactly the position to also back out and let the ramp go and it is easy to see that you (or whoever) are not fully engaging the pin and locking it down. It was anything but just fine and guys have problems losing or bending ramps so you should probably edit the video to help them keep them secure ~
