Former major snow state municipal mechanic here..I have changed a whole lot of telescoping cylinders on the front of dumps..very few of the simple dual acting.
The scissor is better if you dump on un level ground very much. Less torsion on the cylinder. It has a bigger footprint or contact surface on the main frame and the dump box. The scissor takes the twist or torsion not the cylinder.
Telescopic lifts are very strong. I have a massive dump truck and with the telescopic lift the bed now has a bow in from lifting so much weight. Something to think about
I dont know about having a bunch of cobblestones in it that last one with the skinny ram that long, how would it handle if the ground isn't perfectly flat or if the load isn't centered great. Just doesn't look like its very strong that way. Im liking the dual rams its pushing the same on each side it can't twist
I have driven dump trucks and semi truck with end dump trailer- both can be very sketchy dumping on uneven ground. That is why I chose to go with the dual cylinders- stability/ safety. The trailer I bought, which is a Texas Pride trailer, gooseneck, triple 7K axles, charges the batteries when plugged into the truck and, an extension cord can plug into the trailer to operate an onboard trickle charger. For those asking how to get one - go online to Texas Pride Trailers, request information and someone got back to me within a couple hours. I placed my order and received the trailer in four weeks!
Just know this, every trailer is going to need a paint job as soon as you buy it. I've had them all from flat bed, dump, enclosed, utility and landscape, from big tex, snapper trailers ( the worst) trailers 4less, gator every trailer has a cheap light coat paint job just to get it sold. And none of them will stand behind the warranty even if you buy trailers in high volume, the dealer will blame the builder and the builder will blame the dealer.
All Dump Trucks are single telescopic for a reason and have 2 solid beams down the middle under the bed, prevents bed rippling. Don't load rock daily on these.
He kept calling the single ram a new technology but the other guy said they have been using it on semi dumps for years. And that's true it has been around for years.
At the time, the telescopic cylinder was new technology for us to incorporate on our trailers. We saw the mechanical advantages of the system on larger dumps so all of our 14k-20k GVWR dumps now come standard with a telescopic cylinder.
It's a shame i cannot find any damn telescopic lifts in my area. They are all lifting the load from the middle of the trailer so it has so much more resistance on the front end of it. Next dump trailer i get will be done with Texas Pride. Prices are super fair and the quality is unmatchable.
i rented one of each to haul over a 100 tons of gravel for my drive way and back yard for two car ports, after getting all three due to the volume the rental place had,i got one of each by accident, the dual ram is the shit,if you have to dump in a total non flat surface the dual ram is superior,it does not stress the bed pivots in the back, the other two strain the bed pivots every damn time, they were not my equipment, but when you rent one every weekend to do the haul, you still don' t want them to break, especially when its not yours, for us the dual ram is superior
The worst part I see about the dump trailers with the telescopic cylinders, is that the top of the cylinder barrel sticks up above the top rim of the trailer box (on normal wall height trailers) so when you put your tractor in the trailer, with loader and 3-point hitch attachment on the back, sometimes you need to put the bucket up on the headboard to fit in the trailer and the damn cylinder is in the way !
@@charlesc9647 Even my sub-compact John Deere 2720 with a bucket on the front and the york rake on the back (with gauge wheels) measures just about 17'. I have never seen a 17' foot dump trailer, so the only size trailer that set up will fit in is an 18' or bigger. Most guy's trucks will not comfortably tow an 18' trailer (nor would they want one that big) so I guess it's not as easy as just "buy a longer trailer"
Did you lose your Title or did you buy it with out a title? If you bought it with out one you may be able to get a bond title. If you lost it, apply at your DMV or tax office for a lost title! Shouldn't be too hard.
Build onto it enough to prove that you built it. Then you classify as a u-built. Also the gvw has to be below commercial class. Which will be less than 5000lbs. If you go 1400lbs or less, you won't have to get an inspection.
Ok, listen up, Slide #1 show all three side by side trailer weights and how much each trailer is rated to dump / possible to dump without damage to frame, and how fast to cycle, and how many cycles per day. Turn a chatter-box video into a 1 slide presentation. Then start the presentation.
With DOT rules & regulations it just best not to get one at all. Those batteries don't work for crap using it day in and day out I see guys always hooking up jumper cables at the landfill. It's just cheaper to call a big truck or a 10+yard dump truck when you need some dirt or gravel or some trash hauled off.
I had a sissors lift 6x10 10 k used and abused it for 15 years and sold it for 1k less than I paid for it. It was a great investment and I never had to waste time going to rent one. Never broke down and if you charged the battery every 4 lifts or so it was fine.
@@darrelgirdner1290 that's exactly what I thought. We go to the dump Monday through Friday, battery charges through truck while driving so I never have to charge it. It's a marine battery so they only last about a year. New battery every year and that's it. Only guys you see at the dump Jerry rigging are to cheap to do it the right way!
But instead of being cheap and cheating your customers if you put bigger stronger lifts and cylinders on them in the first place then you would have a great product but what saves them $100 ends up costing the consumer 2 or 3 thousand. Sure wish people built for the best instead of max profit margin. Come on guys stop cheating the consumer you will sale way more product
If I'm correct, 16k is the GVWR so you have to take out the Tare/Empty weight of the trailer which leaves you with around 10k max carrying capacity. So it should still lift 5Ton but you're maxing it out.
@@Sqwedgie yeah you're right, it's total. But they're still junk, already had a ramp break, the barn doors are terribly designed, no washers under bolts that hold the ram and the heads are pulling through etc.. You get what you pay for.

Can you make a dual telescopic trailer?

Ya it's hydraulic. Nothing is 100% equal. Dual rams never lift the same. They are actually more dangerous
its 9am, time for me to go and do a hard push straightline dump

treid and true semi dump trl way to go all day long ,just get faster pump and it will dump faster
Glad I bought a telescopic trailer.
Cylinder on the end is the way to go. More net capacity and fewer parts to fail.
