Keep in mind that the 5 screws that hold the 3 ribbon cables to the circuit board, are different lengths. You need to keep them organized and know where each one goes or else you will damage the circuit board and destroy your phone if you put the incorrect screws into the wrong holes

Got a DIY kit from amazon for $28, with tools. Video is 5 minutes but took me an hour. Great vid, everything on my phone works great and my phone looks brand new with the new screen. Would def recommend tweezers. Places around me charge about $75 to do what i just did

  • @MonSterlin

Did. Worked great for me. Would've cost me anywhere from 240-380 if I took it in or sent it to apple (not cheap without apple care). Took my phone out of its case for one day while I was waiting for new case. Dropped it for first time since I got it... and blam screen didn't crack it shattered. Thanks for the video and the references (parts, lego,etc.). The speaker seems a bit quieter now (not really muffled, just quieter) but then I did it at 1am after a long day of work so...
    Thanks again for vid.

Thanks for the video! I just replaced my daughters 5th screen (first one I've tried myself) and it worked great. There was a small difference between the replacement screen I got and the one installed being the microphone retainer, but I cut off the rubber piece (scary!) from the new one and it worked out! Thanks for your help on this, I got tired of paying $175 every few months to get her screen replaced, now I can do it myself for less than $40! You've earned my subscription

The camera/speaker swap at the top of the phone is the most difficult part of the repair....your video helped a lot...thank you!

Thanks for posting this DIY for replacing iPhone 6 plus screen. I ordered the parts you suggested. The most challenging part was disconnecting the camera/earpiece assembly. There was a thin metal attachment that you didn't show and I wasn't sure how to proceed but I just pulled it out and moved it with the entire assembly and seems ok. The screen's touch sensitivity is not as accurate as the original but I don't know if that is a screen issue or something I did or didn't do while changing it but it is not enough of a problem that I wouldn't do it again.

Thanks so much for this video. While I originally only cracked the glass (and the display worked fine) I was going to replace just the glass. I had everything ready but a shard of glass got onto the LCD and broke the digitizer before I could even seperate the display from the bottom of the phone... I bit the bullet and just bought a replacement display. Followed the steps in the video and it's pretty much a perfect repair. Cannot thank you enough for this video. Only different thing for me was I accidentally forgot to replace one of the little plastic things on the top of the phone and I think I tightened the home button plate too much so I physically couldn't press it. I opened it up again, and now it's a bit too loose because it doesn't sound like it did before, but the fingerprint scanner and everything works fantastically. Seriously, thanks for this video.

The second and third one are very similar in size and it was as simple as adjusting how they laid on top of each other. Thanks again!

apple doesnt sell their screens. You have to buy aftermarket and they are junk. I have been in the screen replacing business before. The screens are junk, some are ok, but you get a lot of duds.Do your research and find a supplier. I wouldnt recommend the supplier i had so i wont pass the info along.

considering how ridiculous the prices are phone businesses charge and thats including apple's astronomical prices for doing what this gentleman in this here video just demonstrated for us which i give him and his video lots of props man. Honestly and realistically this video couldn't have been anymore informative in a practical, technical way and considering on the task I definitely advise this tech person's demo about any other category in the subject of Iphone repair! Thank you Sir for your video especially in replacing screens because you not only helped me save my money by not taking it to some overpriced place because i just did this on my own but i also learned a lot i didn't know before this in this detail hands on about my iphone rep.

Thanks for your video! My screen was completely broken with purple lines dancing through lol. If you are going to replace your screen for the first time TAKE YOUR TIME! And be careful about the order you place the black "ribbons". Also when I did it and tried turning on my phone it wouldnt work so I panicked redid most of the steps and re-tried to turn on my phone no success so I thought the new screen was broken or I broke smt in the phone then I decided to plug it in the computer: it worked!!!!! Like a charm except for the finger recognition so I unscrewed this part and redid again: WORKS!!! So be patient and try again if it doesnt work.

After trying the method above, my phone is "dead", do not boot up. If you face the same issue, make sure to disconnect battery first. I am surprised that so experienced youtuber did not mention that. I thought I killed iPhone but then I remember that I had similar issue with iPad (countless touch screen replacements). The battery connector cable is located on the right side, little bit bellow the middle of the battery. It's covered with metal plate and two screws. Simply disconnect battery and connect again. This will reset mobile and it will boot normally. Good luck!

So just a question. Apple charges 130 for a screen repair. The tool set is 20 and the screen is 100. With At&T you can also do insurance which would make a new phone only 200 dollars. Why risk more damage by doing it yourself? Just curious, this is a great video and if I do it myself I will definitely be utilizing it heh.

  • @shane8146

@ 2:08 the bottom ribbon cable was not glued to the frame for my iPhone 6 plus. It was attached to this small square metal backing and wouldn't come off. So sadly, I had to order this whole backing piece with the ribbons because when trying to remove the ribbon it got cut. I further investigated it and it didn't look similar to your walkthrough, yours easily came off with ease and mine was really stuck on there even when gently using the tool to remove it. Be cautious friends, but its only 6 bucks on Amazon so no biggy but kinda disappointed.
