Thanks for this video! My Grandad struggles to use the google interface as he's terrible with technology and struggles to remember when I tell him how to navigate it. Removing all the extra recommendations will greatly help him!
Apps only mode these is not only clean look mode menu design, but also this option will speed up your menu and TV, because none of the recommandations will updated in background which means less cpu and network usage, RAM of course too = better performance. Moreover I recommand to setting up in developer options - limit of background processes to max 2-3. It will be speed up your TV too again (this settings required to be renew setting up once on boot up your TV from deep TURN OFF mode).
And note to self...if your planning to buy a google tv box get a mecool....it has the older version of google tv (Android TV 10 )which is much cleaner and less bloated with recommendations even though it does have some Google Tv 11 OS features.

I liked Google Tv 10 better than 11 on my MeCool box Google TV 10 OS home screen looks more organized and cleaner it does give you some recommendations but not as bloated as Google TV Android 11. The only reason i dont use my box anymore is because my new tv came with Google TV 11 already so i just dont want to be using another hdmi cable and 2 remotes...
Hi! Is Google Assistant enabled in settings? Do you have App only mode enabled? If you continue to have issues, perhaps it is best to reset the TV to factory settings and set up Google account and settings.
How do you remove the apps only mode enabled text from the homescreen? It would look even cleaner if you can remove it somehow, maybe something in dev options?
This does not work on my Sony Bravia. I still get the Google recommendations. It's like they want you to see their garbage content. What can I do to only see the apps? Anyone, much obliged. Thanks

Unfortunately when you go apps only you lose the free Google TV channel option. Correct me if I'm wrong?
