honestly.. that option to just set up apps only mode is the only reason I'm going to buy it. your video showed me exactly what I was looking for.
they must've gotten rid of that option. As I just picked it up the other day and like it but that area is not there. Unless I'm blinking and not seeing it now.

.. Unless you own VUDU movies or watch 4K content including Disney Plus or especially anything Dolby Vision. For whatever insane reason Google has decided to purposely blocked many 4K playback features. Literally you can't play anything 4K from VUDU.

You can change what the TH-cam and Netflix buttons do with "button mapper" it's a bit of tinkering but does work
I did like your video you were very detailed, except for the consideration that not all people are excited! I am totally blind and I rely on TH-cam videos to instruct me how to use different devices. I just bought the Chromecast with Google TV and wanted to know about some of the settings. In future if you could please actually say the settings it would be very useful to anybody that's vision impaired or blind. Thank you for that consideration if you do do that

You have extremely nice review but I couldn’t find what I’m looking for. Example, if I connect this to a projector, is it possible during casting, you can split the sound to output in a Bluetooth Home Theater instead of projector sound output? I have connectivity issue in my home. The home theater is in front and the projector at the back. Using 3.5mm jack wired will not give you Dolby Atmos Surround quality. Thanks for your answer, appreciated.
Thanks for this - really helped me - just bought a Chromecast TV and it has Android12. The most annoying thing is the poor mouse control. You need some mouse toggle app etc. Pity it is not built in.
I just subscribed to TH-cam TV and they have a promotion of receiving a free Google TV. I have been using Chromecast since it came out. I have upgraded my TV to Nvidia Shield TV and love that. I will use Google TV on a spare TV in a small den. This is a very informative video that will help with the setup of mt Google TV. Thank you. Is there a way to use the remote for sound AND your phone for casting? I usually just use my phone as a controller. But others in house may prefer remote. HD version

I ordered mine today (in Sky blue) ready for x-mas days. Additionally I bought the Ethernet adapter for it, which Google provides. I have internet access near my TV so it makes sense to connect it via cable, not wifi.
I have a Ethernet LAN Micro USB Adapter that I use on my fire stick, can I use this on Google TV by just using a micro to c type converter adapter. Don't want to buy all new connection. Thanks.

You can add a wireless bluetooth headset or speaker and listen via. But it can only pair one device at a time. Sounds great.

My Chromecast is connected to my 4k projector which in turn is directly connected via arc hdmi.
Many times i am not able to get sound after loading.
I have to then toggle my projector cec setting on and off and I get sound back on my receiver.
2) I'm expecting my ethernet adaptor soon.
Do I need to plugin both to power to make it work or only ethernet power is enough?
Max speed I will get via ethernet is 100mbps?
Two years I wonder if still there. Guess I have older Chromecast no remote. Probably had three years or longer but just plugged it in. I have the NFL app but learned the caster does not work with the NFL app. Do you know any work arounds. I have Rokus which I recently learned does casting?

Installed only apps is great to clean all the clutter in the screen, but a big drawback is that it disables the voice searching

You have not really mentioned google home app and using your iphone or android phone as a remote. Not just in youtube. Pressumably it is possible, however, I am struggling to get it working right now at this moment. The app just says it is not currently possible and I should recheck whethere there is an update available on my chromecast 4. It is up to date though. Any thoughts?

so I recently got one for myself and it's pretty fast with just my wi-fi signal alone. I went to add my Yamaha receiver to the remote. Followed the instructions and it turned off my receiver. I waited 8+ seconds then pressed the power button and wouldn't turn it back on. I went through all 8 attempts but it wouldn't after that. But one attempt and it for some reason selected sleep mode on my receiver. So how on the first try it turned off but won't turn back on? I even removed the device and still won't control it. But following your steps on the remote CEC thing. I see where I should have one option turned on and now the remote controls the volume. I think they got rid of the apps only mode. As I don't see it now.
Great video! I also wanted to know is there any way you can get a Nest Doorbell notification on the Chromecast Google TV? Like it shows on the Nest Home Hub, ie you can see the stream of the Doorbell as soon as someone rings the doorbell.

Hello everyone, Did you try to connect bluetooth mouse to Chromecast. I tried to do it witch two different mice (Microsoft designer and Lenovo MX laser) witch no luck. Chromecast is able to find mouse, displays "Pairing" and " Connecting". Mouse cursor shows for a while (you can move it). But after a few seconds cursor vanishes and Chromecast displays an information that it was unable to connect.
Usb storage and Ethernet upgrades is possible too.

When setting up the google tv it asked if I wanted to pause the search history or pause the history & I didn’t click none of them I found on youtube how to unpause saved history but how do I unpause search history ? Where do I go ?

I do love this Chromecast, but I am unable to control my TV or any other device with the Chromecast remote. My TV is a Element which I got on Black Friday a couple years ago. It's not a huge deal, but was a main reason I went with the Chromecast over other devices.
You have to set it up when you first get your chromecast and you turn it on for the first time. You have the option to skip that part which is probably what you did. I'm sure if you just look around on the settings menu you can still set it up

If I turn on the Apps Only Mode, which took me a while to find because you went thru it too fast, then it says I can't use the virtual assistant. So I cancelled that.

@@CoupeLouver By mirroring you mean?! Good thing about casting straight from the apps is that you don't have to go through so many steps to mirror before going to the app and playing the video. It used to work just fine with the old Chromecast :(

Bought it today and took it back today. HLG HDR in TH-cam and TH-camTV is broken. The colors are not mapped correctly and are blown out. Bought the Roku 4K stick instead and couldn’t be happier.

How do you get to the settings menu? You just appeared in it but didn't explain what to do or what you pressed
