  • www.autobytel.c... It’s a great time to be a pickup truck buyer with the new mid-size line-up coming from General Motors. The GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado are setting the bar for this segment. Prices start at $20,955 for the base model Canyon all the way up to $37,250 for the top-of-the-line SLT 4x4 crew-cab long box model.
    There are 2 different engine options available. The first is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder that makes 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. The second engine is a larger 3.6 liter V-6 that makes 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft. of torque. This larger engine gets 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the highway.
    The GMC Canyon sets the bar high in a segment that is read to take off.

    I just bought one this past weekend. Copper Red and with the same options as the one in the video. I drove about 300 miles HWY this past week and averaged 28mpg. Not bad. I love the truck.

      Hi I was wondering if you can update me with how the truck lasted for you? I am looking at a 2015 GMC Canyon SLE that has 125,000 miles and was wondering how reliable the car is? Thanks !

      +NuovoSoldato no issues. 3 recalls took less than 2 hrs, to be expected with new models. Overall I love my truck.

      Its a nice truck. Another recall so total is 4. The Tacoma is a new model this year as well as is sure to have the same issues with recalls. I don't discredit my decision to purchase the truck.

    LOL! Tacoma is ONE HORSEPOWER DOWN WITH A SUPERCHARGER THAN THE COLORADO IS WITH A 400cc DEFICIT IN ENGINE SIZE AND NO SUPERCHARGER! BWAHAHAHAHA, what a fucking joke Toyota has become. BTW, where's the fucking diesel?

    Nice, informative review. Yours is the second review I've seen that report mpg for Canyon/Colorado of higher than mid 20's---27.2 mpg in the other review. At what elevation did you test your test sample?

    Decent review of the interior but nothing here shows it is a truck for tuff stuff. In fact no review yet shows it is tough. Just rides around like a car on every review. Front bumper has no clearance to be tough at anything without wrecking it first.

    • @zimks
      @zimks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can go to TFL truck where they tow 7000lbs up a mountain and does extremely well

    • @budcargeorge
      @budcargeorge 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya at 6800RPM at 3mpg, motor is likely finished given a few more runs like that. That's hardly a test. Wait until it has 100,000km on it then see how tuff it is.

    • @zimks
      @zimks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and high RPMs mean more responsive throttle and keep it one gear will make it easier on the transmission

    • @budcargeorge
      @budcargeorge 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The truck was at capacity, due to the grade and speed of choice. At those parameters it only had one gear choice. The Tacoma would be slower but would burn less fuel at that point, if the 305HP is at 6800RPM; its burning fuel. If you travel this type of terrain than Tacoma offers a Supercharger from TRD with full warranty and its power will not be affected by elevation pressures as the supercharger will maintain the 302HP.
      What I am saying is that a motor reving at 6800RPM vs an engine reving at 5200 RPM will not last as long. Both have the same Torque but the Tacoma makes the torque more truck-useable at a lower RPM. High RPM is not for trucks unless you want a rat-rod built for pavement.
      The test only lasts for 30 minutes. How about owning the truck for 5 years, lets say, and see if its still alive. That is about 2,628,000 minutes in comparison. Thats a test that Tacoma has already proven way beyond that time frame.

    • @zimks
      @zimks 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You see these trucks aren't made for people to tow with them everyday. and most people who buy mid size are people who do not tow 7000 up steepest grade. and how do you know the torque curves of both vehicles? have you taken them to a dyno and compare numbers? and now you have to throw a supercharger on the tacoma just to compete with it?
      Take the same load up with the tacoma and i guarantee its not gonna be at 2000 rpm's its gonna be screaming up it just like the colorado.
      You stated show it doing "tuff" stuff instead of just driving around and there it is towing 7000 up one of the most steepest grades in north america and you still try to knock it off..

    Hey so I'm a guy that does NO offroading and NO trailer hauling. Is it worth it for me to pay the extra for the DIESEL? OR should I just go ahead and buy the V6 now.
    What has better road speed and acceleration? The Diesel or the V6?
    There are no Diesels available for a while now in southern california... I'd have to wait for a diesel. OR I could go today and buy the V6 SLT Canyon what do you all think?

      then go with the ford ranger stile of pick ups, they're small by american standard but they fit your need of ocasional usage of the bed.
      Americans really need to know the toyota hilux, and Volkswagen amarok.
