The reason there is no push to start is because most truck buyers like myself could care less about it. What we do care about is practicality, decent fuel economy, and comfort.
GM said it was b/c there are a lot of fleet trucks so keys would be easier. but seems only SL models needed them not my SLT 4x4 FULLY LOADED! still I LOVE MY FUCKING TRUCK! i engineered a use of a black hair tie to hold hold my keys and wrapped/strapped it to my windshield wiper arm. NO MORE RATTLY-CLANK!
I just bought a 2016 Canyon ... been a Ford guy all my life but Ford refuses to bring their mid-size in and I just don't like driving and parking the full-size truck any more. . Traded in a 2011 Canyon with 70,000 mile. Never one single trip to the shop for anything. Perfect. Oil changes and a set of tires at 50,000. That is it. Great truck. The new one is so nice it is almost embarrassing, so well laid out and equipped. Other than they forgot to design in a tray for the console (huh?) it is virtually perfect. Love it.
Wow, what an expert review. You covered everything, including the 3.6 liter V6 engine option, to the competing Tacoma and Frontier. I've been debating on buying the Canyon, and your test drive with the excellent audio really brought home the noise from the inline 2.5 liter 4. Thank you for your insights.
I considered the Chevy Colorado but when I found out I could purchase a 2015 Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab that had an MSRP of $48,000 for $37,700 it made no sense to look at these trucks. I saved $10,250 off MSRP including $5500 worth of rebates.
Yeah full sized are very aggressively discounted, and I have seen much of the same for even the newest year models. Opposite to yourself and coming from a Sube wagon, I went with a 2016 new old stock Canyon because of the size, reasonable mpg, and can still tow 7,000 lbs.
Push button start is just a way for companies to get more money. Why; because when the push button key or push button breaks, it cost at least $400 when u have a normal key it cost at least $2 so yeah the GMC is saving u $398
Good review. I still wouldn't trust the truck. Just cause I know so many people who have or still own a GM product and they always are having problems with them. I can't wait to see the new 2016 Toyota Tacoma!
you said the colorado does not come with full leather. the Colorado LT has a package called the luxury package that adds projector headlights.chrome bits and full leather seats.
Great improvement over the old models. By next year the pricing should be more competitive. Another very informative review Sofyan and I just want to take you home to meet my mother!!
I fucking hate the EMPHASIS he puts on push button start in EVERY fucking review, its not that big a deal. I personally like the satisfaction of turning the key.
Well, it's a detailed review. His job is to show you (the buyer) every feature point out any negatives, and compare the vehicle to its competitors. I for one like how he nit picks every little detail in his reviews.
Brandon K same here, i hate all these useless bells and whistles that will give you electrical problems that will cost an arm and a leg to fix, all trucks should come with the option of a manual transmission in my opinion
Redline Reviews Real men do not care about 'soft touch' materials for their dashboard. Real truck owners use their pickups for what they were intended to be used in the real world. If you want 'push button' start, go by yourself a luxury car. Today pickups are getting out of control in terms of their pricing and yuppie tech features, etc.
Okie Rider Its 2015 "GET USED TO IT", before you know it there's gonna be flying cars and trucks ect. Stop your bitching and realize your in a technology oriented world. And your so called and yes quoted "REAL MEN" can care about soft touch materials and or push start buttons, maybe you don't, but you don't speak for other people.
The GMC Canyon looks very good, even better looking than the Chevy Colorado in my opinion. Only hard gripe i have about the the GMC Canyon is there is no "Push Button Start, which by now i think every kind of new vehicle should have.
OMG NO PUSH BUTTON START?!!! It's such a chore to put in the key and turn it. I can't believe people drove cars without push button start back in the day.
VOLFANATIC3 Its not about the fact you have to put a key in the ignition, its the fact that its 2015 almost 2016 and things like this should be standard by now. You obviously arnt aware of the current generation. And also it looks alot nice/sleeker with push button start. Im sure on the 2016 models they will add it.
Really digging this truck but the crew cab 6cyl would be a MUST for me. I really wish you would take your vehicles out on highway roads during your reviews. You talk about how quiet cars are but you're only doing normal street speeds. Take them out and do a real world road trip test! Otherwise keep up the good work!
i drove the colorado today. i am sure the gmc is mechanically the same, but visually more upscale (i love the eminent front theme song on their commercials) i will say this. this video is spot on. looks big....feels small...has bells and whistles. HOWEVER, i am not looking for a full size pup. i want a more manuverable truck that fits in my garage. 35k for a new age chevy luv? i spoze....but only if it delivers. you'd be better off buying the 1500. maybe wait a year for the fever to drop and opt for the diesel. and please, dear God, offer us some colors choices that spark excitement. i realize this isn't 1985, but give us something other than those dishwater color options. and while i am rambling...howzabout a tan interior as an option as well. even my grandfather had a jazzier coffin interior than this dark cabin. overall? 8.5/10.
Problems I have with this truck : Front air dam sits low, 4 banger shouldn't even be on this truck, keep it on the Colorado to distinguish the brands more, Price and gas mileage are the same if not close to a real full size truck.
Great review, but not sure where in the world you said a fully loaded crew cab was 46k..??? There around 38k and with the diesel probably 41k. But that's MSRP! dealers take out 5k and up. People don't get this concept. Don't ever pay MSRP or above it!!!
This model with the 6speed manual an 4 cylinder 2wd would be a huge improvment over my other truck. My 95 nissan hardbody is only a 5 speed manual. It only has 135hp but is plenty for yard work an occasional furnature. So this at 200hp is a huge improvment. Jump seats just like my old hardbody perfectly fine.
tom jones Compared to this V6 Canyon yes. But you're comparing a 3.6 engine to a 5.7. Tundra gives an average of 17 mpg. Not to bad for a powerful V8. But overall quality, consumer satisfaction, reliability, and performance the Tundra certainly takes the top spot.
There's another review that starts out very similar. I can't remember which one but the verbage is almost the same. Seems like one plagerized the other I'm not sure which came first
I'd like a truck this size, extended cab, not crew cab. However, the tester truck in the video is not worth 37k at all, in my opinion. It's not affordable, and that's what I thought the essence of a small truck was. (Though it's not small anymore)
Bruno TaTa I'm sorry, that's just not practical. I'm not getting the 4 cylinder, and I need 4x4. You have to admit that these "small trucks" are a bit overpriced. My point was, I really like this truck, but for that money I can get so much more. For instance, I can get a 2015 F-150 XL extended cab with the Sport Package and 2.7 EcoBoost V6 and 4x4 for 35k. Think of it this way, the F-150 is bigger, more powerful, and has nearly as many features for less money. That's why this truck probably won't sell that well. It's big brother the Sierra is only marginally more expensive for much more utility. And if it's a lifestyle vehicle you want, might as well just get an SUV like everyone else. Sure, some people will like it, but the idea doesn't work for me. Believe me, I wanted it to be good, but it is simply too expensive. When you say "It's not their fault you can't pay more" are you implying that I'm missing out on something? Is it also not their fault that they just lost a potential customer?
Trent Begay The truck in this review is an odd mix. It's fully loaded except it has the 4 cyl and the extended cab. I purchased a mid trim level Canyon last month. Mine is a crew cab with the long box, v6, the upgraded stereo with the nav and its sticker was $33500.
+suzigti92 I have a 2.5 liter Canyon 2015 two wheel drive with 6 speed standard transmision, is than agile that, I like to beat the shit out of full size trucks on town all time with afuel comsuption of a car, the only thing that I don't like is that the truck is restricted to 159 Km/H
It is pretty expensive for a Mid Size truck. Not much of a deal which doesn't really make this look smart money wise. I hate the Access Cab Configuration. It's Stupid. But the Crew Cab is too expensive. I'd skip it and go for the Sierra honestly.
If they just woulda of made it look like there big brother just smaller, then it would be a good little truck. plus have a column shift as an option, for us non dick fixated people out there, who don’t need the sub conscience need to have the sensation of giving a hand job to switch gears. If its a manuel then have a gear selector in the middle, but a column shift allows room for an extra person, or more cup holders for a center console.
It's the Dakota all over again. The price is insane. The engine bay should have been design for a 4 cylinder & a small Diesel only. Dump the "Access Cab". The running boards are pointless and get in the way. The interior controls are dated with a crappy font. The firewall should fold into the Crew Cab area for longer items. The interior is cramped.
I agree with you saying you should only buy a full size truck. Yeah my Ranger doesn't have nearly as much as one. But it's sooooooo much cheaper. If this truck was cheap it would be great but it's not at all
Kevin Martin The last year they made Rangers a salesman tried to sell me a base model for $21k.....at the same time, you could find used fully loaded rangers for about $8k in perfect condition. No wonder nobody bought them anymore. He was trying to sell me a truck without power windows. You can buy a new raptor now for $55-60k, or buy a used one for---$45k. Once you spec out the two sizes and consider incentives, the math doesn't add up for these trucks. They need to start cheaper and actually be cheaper to spec out. Otherwise, you're spending money for an inferior truck. All the innovation and R&D goes to the full size trucks and that's where you want to buy.
Ivan Vojt Dropping the access cab leaves you with a tiny bed or a really long 'compact" truck. Nearly as long as full sizers. A young guy with no family to haul might prefer it. Besides, it replaces regular cabs. You can get a V6 that works fine for under $30K . These are loaded versions. You don't need all that shit.
i get that its a tech leader and all, but thats not saying much considering how dead this segment is. also ew to the 4 cylinder, not sure why GM gave you that engine
you cant really bash Toyota or Nissan right now cause Toyota is now refreshing the Tacoma but I don't know what Nissan is doing so you have to wait before comparing a old gen truck to a new gen truck one thing that is real nice is the Tacoma will have option for sunroof that twins do not and Nissan has to get there head back in the game cause they suck the most
Another sickening monstrosity, haven't a clue why they would list this as a compact or midsize... Need small trucks 2011 ranger, sonoma, 05 canyon. I no no need to pull a yacht or tank a house off a foundation. Need to haul a little lumber and camp gear into the bush.
It depends on what trim level you get. I'm considering getting a new canyon base trim 4x4 half cab. After everything I wanted it came out to 28k. You won't get anywhere near that price for a full size truck. The canyon is 38k fully loaded when trucks like the ram, f-150, and Silverado are upwards of 50k fully loaded.
That's why you pay to have that 80" 4ktv delivered, or free delivery a few days later while I'm home in an hour with the TV in the back of my truck and driving thru 3 ft snow drifts like I'm on dry pavement. Yeah trucks are totally boring, NOT
The reason there is no push to start is because most truck buyers like myself could care less about it. What we do care about is practicality, decent fuel economy, and comfort.

I agree.and me personally i love turning a truck on with a key then with a button

honestly looks like a full size truck.. that's why I love these things!
Wow, what an expert review.

I've been debating on buying the Canyon, and your test drive with the excellent audio really brought home the noise from the inline 2.5 liter 4.

It does come with automatic start, the rear window is only a $75 option, and gas mileage is 20/27 with the inline four and 19/24 with the V6.
I considered the Chevy Colorado but when I found out I could purchase a 2015 Ram 1500 Sport Crew Cab that had an MSRP of $48,000 for $37,700 it made no sense to look at these trucks. I saved $10,250 off MSRP including $5500 worth of rebates.
scterka Not everyone buys by the pound. My wife, for example, doesn't like driving my F150 FX4 because it's huge. It also rides much rougher.

Don't worry about him. sofyan is just one of those guys that acts "Cool" and likes technology stuff..
Pushbutton start is really important to millenials. Not me
You accidentally called it the GMC Yukon lol

I know... my brain kept trying to tell me I was in a Yukon instead -_-

+Julien Michael lmao! you listen to yourself
VOLFANATIC3 Ok? i dont need to..i already know what i said, but i would look at your sense meter to see if its at its highest point lol...LMFAO.
Do you think that the 4 cylinder actually gets worse mpg's than the 6 cylinder since it has to work harder?
My friend has one. SLT fully loaded. Problem is no power or torque. And do a 2015 f-150?
Lol when you got into the back seat
donkedik J. find it at 2:15

Why did you say "now checking out the cab of the 2015 GMC Yukon" it's a Canyon. Good review by the way!👍
Sofay, I like your car review. Have you heard the Ranger coming back? I have heard some things about it.
Frontier's still exist?
I got a 2016 GMC Canyon 4x4 SLT v6 crew cab for 36k. Because it is a GMC I paid more for extended warranties.
The 4cyl in this truck is fine if you don't plan to tow much or don't need 4WD. And at least it's not a turbo.
Awesome Review Of 2015 GMC Canyon. 😁

Did you actually get 19/25 MPG?

Very nice job on the review,.
i dont know why they didnt give you the v6. Its really the only option unless your like a gardener in a flat small town.
2016 Tacoma review?

lol my god i cant imagine how you drive, you seem to need full throttle in what appears to be normal traffic. 10 second 0-60 is tf
The new Tundra is on a another level, when you compare it to the likes of RAM, F150, and all GM trucks.
tom jones Compared to this V6 Canyon yes. But you're comparing a 3.6 engine to a 5.7. Tundra gives an average of 17 mpg. Not to bad for a powerful V8. But overall quality, consumer satisfaction, reliability, and performance the Tundra certainly takes the top spot.
Al H. Poor fuel economy & disappointing cabin their are better options than a toyota there will always be
Sofyan can you please do the 2014 corolla s
Why such emphasis on push button start (or lack thereof)! It's a truck, not a race car.
You should review a 2015 fiat 500 abarth automatic.
Under 301 club! Under 50 club too!
Please do the Kia Optima 2015
How come u never do used cars anymore?

Fordguy1997 So pick a 4 cylinder WT version in 2wd for about $25K. Not their fault you can't pay more.

Hahaha he called it a Yukon must be that good! Or look that close either way not bad!
I find the interior materials on these to be lower quality than the full size trucks.
why does GM even have GMC they are all just chevy truck and suvs
GMC is more luxurious than Chevy yet not as luxurious as Cadillac.
Ouch, 37k for that? I would expect a crew cab with a lot of the options for that price.
Trent Begay The truck in this review is an odd mix. It's fully loaded except it has the 4 cyl and the extended cab. I purchased a mid trim level Canyon last month. Mine is a crew cab with the long box, v6, the upgraded stereo with the nav and its sticker was $33500.
Why is it when you put a key in a car it makes 5 'dong' sounds then you turn it on and it does the same sound again 5 times
Dee Jay Try putting on your seat belt and you won't have that...
Being a GMC, u would think they'll have higher quality materials in the interior
they don't
do a 2016 ford explorer
4:15 lol you said Yukon
Push button start is perceived by automakers as a convenience. Most buyers don't care about it.
Good looking mid size truck. But that 2.5L, 4 banger shouldn't even be an option.
+suzigti92
I have a 2.5 liter Canyon 2015 two wheel drive with 6 speed standard transmision, is than agile that, I like to beat the shit out of full size trucks on town all time with afuel comsuption of a car, the only thing that I don't like is that the truck is restricted to 159 Km/H
only if they sold this truck in Aussie and New Zealand
:13 u said yukon not canyon
got my quad cab for 30
It is pretty expensive for a Mid Size truck. Not much of a deal which doesn't really make this look smart money wise. I hate the Access Cab Configuration. It's Stupid. But the Crew Cab is too expensive. I'd skip it and go for the Sierra honestly.
Omarr Longway sier
Like a real truck?
Lol the way he talks
If they just woulda of made it look like there big brother just smaller, then it would be a good little truck. plus have a column shift as an option, for us non dick fixated people out there, who don’t need the sub conscience need to have the sensation of giving a hand job to switch gears. they started making the titan
It's the Dakota all over again.

Dump the "Access Cab".
The running boards are pointless and get in the way.

Hey
this guys nose is stuffed af
4 minutes in and he's already called it a car and a yukon...amateur
you called it a car...good job
It was mistake. People make mistakes. Geez!
a 2.4L inline 4 in a pickup, really?!! just how cheap is GM anyway. the engine sounds like it's about to burst into flames.
keith v it makes the same hp and torque as v8s of the 90s
Push button start is for rich people
Not when Fits and Corolla's offer them.
Billy Batson Thank you :) All of my vehicles are equipped that way, 2014 Corvette, 2015 Mustang GT, 2015 Ram 1500 and 2014 Fiesta ST
scterka Cool.
Ola
Buys a truck to take dirt bikes to the track. Uses a trailer.

Intellilink. I think of South Park's failed infotainment system every time I hear that word.
lol why would you buy one of these for almost 40 G's when you can get a decent 15 F150 Super Crew with a V6 EcoBoost? GMC is stupid.
It depends on what trim level you get. I'm considering getting a new canyon base trim 4x4 half cab. After everything I wanted it came out to 28k. You won't get anywhere near that price for a full size truck. The canyon is 38k fully loaded when trucks like the ram, f-150, and Silverado are upwards of 50k fully loaded.
cloudparter Thry start at 21 grand.
cloudparter just order a 2017 Canyon Denali. Finally a luxury truck that will fit in my Townhouse standard Garge 😝👍🏼
Interior looks cheap. The C pillar is horrible design. Its not a competitor to a Tacoma...more in line w/ a Honda Ridgeline or any minivan.
kinda sounds like a acura
