the massive exausth pipe is not for smog test, it is to cool down the exausth when the vehicule is doing a regen, in case it would be parked and someone could get burnt by the exausth fumes.

This channel is awesome! I hope you grow big so companies are throwing all their vehicles at you as fast as you can test them. P.S. my wife says your voice is as smooth as silk...I may have to watch these videos at work.

Great job! As additional information, dealerships are providing a software upgrade that takes approximately an hour and half to provide support to Android Smartphones for GMC Canyon and I hope this is the same for Chevy Colorado. Keep up with your reviews! They are not repetitive boring as others that share the same content. In my opinion your work is top-notch.

My Chevy has a spray-in bed liner that's about 22 years old. It's the best investment I made to the Chevy. Very tough and saw a lot of hard use. As the years went by it lost it's glossy look and became more a flat black. It certainly protected the bed very well and is the only part of the truck I never had to repaint or redo. Not sure what the quality of the OEM liner will be like but mine was very good.

Great review like always, love the fact that your offroad review methods are consistent from vid to vid. I enjoyed the ride.

I question the factory spray in liners too as I've had Line-X ones in my trucks. Line X is repairable so if it wears out like you are concerned about, it is re-sprayable....although, they are VERY durable. I hauled rocks, dirt...everything! As long as I used a square bottom shovel (a pointed one can shave off a bit of material) it hosed out and looked brand new. A factory sprayed one....although I'm not sure, as I haven't done my research.....I'd bet they can't repair it.

Hey Sam, in regards to the spray in liner the quality would depend on the product used. Navy special warfare command (i.e. SEALS) speced out the Line-X product on their equipment, inside and out and proved extremely durable especially taking into consideration their equipment spends the majority life span around / in salt water.

Hey! Great review! Just one small correction: according to the GM guys, these midsize trucks in North America share virtually no parts with the global model.

Sat in a Canyon this weekend and liked it. At 44K that is approaching full-size truck prices. With the current discounts they'll have to deal to keep me out of a Sierra.

Fantastic review, thanks! I wish they would offer a 6 speed manual for this loaded truck. I learned how to drive on a 5-speed manual F250.

I like the sound of the 2.8 litre Baby Duramax diesel engine. Why more compact and mid-sized trucks aren't available with the engine is beyond me. Is diesel for everyone? Maybe, maybe not. Not everyone can afford the money to buy that larger diesel truck. But if you can afford the extra money for the smaller Duramax, it should be available to buy. But I believe that it should be up to us, American car buyers, to make that decision. Not everyone needs, or even wants a Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra with the larger Duramax 6.6 litre V8. Sometimes a compact or mid-sized truck would be perfect in size. So there should be a smaller diesel engine to fit the smaller truck. Provided the rest of the truck can withstand the torque and compression that diesel engines are known for.

Is the transmission the same as the Colorado. Some people say it’s 2 different six speeds?

Wow, that price is really high for pre-pandemic. Consider today, you can get a brand new Colorado Z71 for $40k.

kind of a disappointed look on the power band, maybe boring?
i wouldn't be surprised to see some aftermarket mods soon.

Sorry. The exhaust is like that to cool the exhaust prior to it exiting into their atmosphere during a regen. Has nothing to do for smog...

+TestDrivenTV I hope he really meant 1080p or 720p. He can have 1440p and 2160p too. But he is out of luck on what he wants. Puzzled me too seeing that. 50 years in A/V tech, and nope no 780p or 1000p in the cards. Sorry. Love your reviews Sam.

Needs the 8 speed automatic gearbox, or even better would be a good 8 speed DSG gearbox for the truck. Add in a more aerodynamic front end to improve efficiency. Not a big fan of the GMC fender lines versus the Chevy. Seats feel narrow compared to my 5000 # AWD 2013 Touareg TDI, and motor feels anemic compared to the Touareg also, yet this truck weighs considerably less. Think it needs more engine displacement.
