And even more in my opinion, he’s a once in a lifetime songwriter. To think of all the hits he wrote for other artists before he even released a hit single that he actually recorded himself is mind blowing.
Chris’ voice is heart-piercing in every sense of the word on every performance, but for any of us that have ever been through a divorce, this song shatters the heart. No way can I listen to this without bawling my eyes out. Chris is the ultimate storyteller. Ain’t too many that can exceed that level of talent. He’s the tops!
I've listened to this song a dozen or more times....and the layers in here are astounding. But let me just say, watching it touch two other people while listening to it, was just a little bit harder. More emotional. Both Asia and BJ at times were shaking their heads, closing their eyes, and letting out very telling sighs. There is something very powerful about this from both a lyrical standpoint, and from the delivery. Chris is hands-down one of the most consequential artists of our time, and I'm very happy to have found his music.

That man has more soul in his toenails than most other singers combined. He is amazing. For a very similar feel, check out a song called “you don’t care for me enough to cry” by a guy named John Moreland. You need to watch the live version though, because, to put it gently, you need to see this man in order to feel his pain. If you watch it, you will understand, but be prepared, it will bring you to tears.

Hes what you call a generational talent. Only 1 or 2 comes along in a generation. Right now its him and Adele. Before that though it was Whitney and people on that level.
Chris pulled my Dad on Stage - a Green Beret and Vietnam War Vet - to sing the National Anthem at Vets Aide in 2021. Not only is he a phenomenal talent, but a good man. Hes the real deal 🔥

I've teased Bj about Asia , I won't anymore, I admire Asia so. but it's my loving wish nothing EVER comes between them, this is a story of the passing of time and how things change, there is no love lost like the kind it takes decades to lose, I wish that to happen to no one it couldn't be crueler. that kind of loss will leave you down for the count and a iron will to get up from. some never do.

Chris Stapleton sang the blues. I'm a fan for life.
Makes me think of me and my ex/deceased wife. We divorced in 1993 but we went back and forth living together until about 2012. She passed with cancer in 2016. No ill will toward her or anything but that love wasn't there. At least not for me.
Since I discovered him about six years ago, I don’t want to listen to anything else. ❤️
Love this artist. His voice is a one of a kind and a gift to the world of music. There really isn't any Genre he can't sing well. He has written for songs for many other artists as well. I think he's at his best songs are his more bluesy songs. Although I do love Fire away, Joy of my life, What are you listening to. My 4 year old Grandson loves him. Nuff said.

That is such a powerful line - "You can go, or you can stay. I won't love you either way." I feel like the long enough you go through life you find yourself in a relationship like this. You know that the love is gone, but you keep up appearances. In the end, you just don't care, you've process the pain, and just want a decision.
