Ive not been wanting to oil my locks, just my scalp and water for the rest of my hair but it seems to work for you. Your locks are beautiful; very healthy looking, and the coloring is absolutely gorgeous.
You have such an exotic look! Beautiful! U r one of the few ppl on these videos that understands that WATER is the only moisturizer and that oils only seal in that water. I, too, use only Rose Water or distilled water. Showering w/o a cap is good, as well. Going to click on link for the brush. Thanx for the info. Love you❤️
I bought an aloe vera plant about a month ago..& thats what I use to moisturize my scalp & ta retwist..im not ready to embrace the lil gray that I do have so I color too & I swear since Ive been using the aloe..my new growth has doubled in length ..sooner than usual, I believe Aloe has magical properties..lol
I appreciate this video!! Currently, my locs are fuchsia and eggplant so I need to make sure I really keep my moisture in point! Thank you for sharing!
Your hair color is banging!!! You drinking water reflects your beautiful skin as well. I drink about a gallon of water a day and it makes a hella difference.
I’m doing good then. I pretty much incorporate everything you recommended to moisturize now, minus your special oil concoction (I have mine as well) I’m proud of myself. Thanks for the tips!
Beautiful, beautiful locs!!!!! I have red locs too and I moisturise my locs every 3 days roughly. My scalp the same but my hairline is very weak. I'm using Macadamia oil, Castor oil and coconut oil every now and again. Love you lotsxx
Ha! You use the Talenti icecream jar, too! Once my son polished it off, I was like "oh yeah! Perfect to store one of my loc concoctions!!!!" Your locs are lookin lovely, of course! I shot to find a larger than 4oz bottle of rose water!
Funny..that's what container my oil concoction is in too. I have a mixture of coconut oil, almond oil, vitamin e oil and eucalyptus oil. Yes, Talenti Mango Sorbet is delicious 😋. And I spray on Rose Water. My locs are 1 year and 4 months now.
Thank you this helped me so much!!! I just did my first retwist less than a week ago and I've moisturized twice since then.(I spray my hair with water then oil and massage my scalp.) My problem is that my hair looks like I need another retwist already and it's just been 4 days. Is this just something you have to deal with when starting locs? I'm nervous my hair will never look freshly done.
Shâlôwm, You have to train your hair. Use only oil and/or butters NATURAL. Then your roots will start to cooperate. Drink lots of water it help make healthy bendable and not breakable hair. But your retwisting technique matters too. You don't have to twist your hair TIGHT for it to work with you. Try twisting and styling right after while wet or damp. Wear your style for a week with no moisture. Gravity extends the curl so wearing your hair down will assist with unravel. Just like scratching, slinging, or just turning your head. Touch your hairs gently and teach them how to act. It'll get easier. You should try always doing your own hair. Hair reacts differently depending on its mood. This way you'll know how to treat it so it'll be nice to you. My retwists last anywhere from a week to two weeks. Hope this helps.💛💚
awesome video, I can testify to the rosewater/vitamin E mix, I do a half and half and my locs love it. I am complete freeform, so I just do it when I need a spruce up...
+Veronique Harvey Hi, I was wondering what brand of vitamin E you use? I was looking around and reading labels, but everything that I see isn't "truly" vitamin E, it has a whole bunch of other stuff in it too.
I'm a new learner of dread locks and I often watch your videos all the time you inspired me to start growing locks and just need a little help. on growing healthy locks😄
Hey Keisha! Hope you're doing well. I just started my two strand locs and I've been using Creme of Nature leave in conditioner which has honey, coconut, & shea butter and I mixed it with water. Is this a good moisture routine for a beginner? How often do I use my Lotta Body coconut mousse?
Hi sweetie. I love your videos. I like your moisturizing routine, but there’s one oil that I could’ve sworn was a staple for u,, but u didn’t mention it...Jojoba oil. It’s the oil that is most like the natural sebum that our skin and scalp secretes. I love it. I can be low on any other oil, but stay stocked with Jojoba. Give it a try. Let me know what u think.
I locked with long hair and now it went short because of the journey I’m just having a small melt down I’ve always had natural hair just 8 months on the loc journey
How do your locs form to be round and not fuzzy? Sometimes even after I palm roll tighten my locs, there's still some frizz coming from the part that was already tightened from the last time. How long does it take for it to completely loc into place like the rest? And how do you get your hair to grow thicker??? I know, so many questions... lol
Can't believe I am only JUST subscribing!!! I have been watching your vids for "yonks" (Australian for 'a long time'). You may have inspired me to colour my locs that gorgeous red. My skin is dark and I think it will look good. Your comments? I see you have combined some of your locs. I'm sure you would have done a video for that but I havent seen it. Thanks KC
+Rachel Marie I do have a video discussing my combined locs. In the same video where I count my locs. I think it is called "How Many Locs Do I Have + My Combined Locs". Red looks good on dark skin, go for a deeper shade however, imo.
I really enjoy your videos. I am so encouraged! I am planning to purchase some things off your website too. AND I really want your book. I can’t wait to see what my hair looks like next year this time with your help. I don’t retwist on my own I go to the salon once a month. Have you changed your hair regimen? Are you still using the same product for moisturizing?
I'm pretty sure that the camera is refocusing and that's causing the noise. I've heard it on other people's videos as well and they explained that it was the camera.
greetings...love your videos.....you were the reason why I decided to reattach my locs....never knew how much I missed them....had a quick question....will the locs that I actually reattached retain moisture like the rest of my hair?

when using the "box colours" to lighten your hair colour, do you used the bleach packet that comes along with the colour? Or do you just use the colour and developer? Thanks
hi @keishacharmaine i have frizz with my starter locks on the lock and my hair frizzes quickly like i had 2 retwist in 2 months because they begin to look a mess at the root any suggestions? plz
Hey, I'm loving all the tips. I'm not sure if you've addressed this in any video, but I'm having a problem with one of my locs. It has collected so much dirt and no matter what I do I can't get it completely clean. Do you have any resolution for that?
Do you recommend black Castro oil to grow back my hairline ? And what you recommend after I get my dreads done what can I put on it to get keep it neat when I go to bed and once I spray the rose water would I have to put any oils after or could I just spray it
If Im going out and my edges are nappy. What gel would you recommend and I put on there and brush back? DO you have a routine for that ? like gel, then spritz, blow dry, tie hair, or something ? Thanks so much.. You are beautiful.
+ImagineInfinity I don't use gels for edges (no need to, I'm a boy with shorter hair) but I'd recommend aloe vera gel (make sure it's pure). It would encourage strength whilst being easy to get out - most other gels would be the opposite.
+ImagineInfinity personally with my hair texture, water is all I really need with a scarf to lay it down. but sometimes I use ORS gel. I'll make a video, thanks for the recommendation.
Organic Olive Oil Root Stimulator Edge Control- Sorry I completely missed this notification! I had an aloe vera one, but I can't remember the name of it sorry
I see a lot of people spraying water on their hair first to moisturizd and it doesn't work for me because I live in a colder climate and it messes up my hair retwist no matter how lightly I spritz , so I use a cream based leave in conditioner that has water as the 1st ingredient and use oil to seal it in , is that okay.
I'm only 10 months locked so they're still maturing. They are locked pretty well, but I have a lot of frizz and I still use a shower cap. Is it ever too soon to shower without a cap?
thank you girl! You have been very helpful to me and I have subscribed and looking for it for to watch all your videos. by the way you are very beautiful beautiful spirit beautiful hair just beautiful!

hello Keisha can u do a video about locking the hair with extentions I have extentions on permed hair an I don't know how to start twisting it cause it's thick now at the root. or should I go to shop to get it started this would be my real hair
Yes you can definitely over moisturize. Too much oil can clog your pores and follicles which will result in limited hair growth and pimples, cause build up in locs, irritate scalp, etc.

Im having an issue with really itchy scabs/sores all over my scalp :/ ive had my locs for almost 2 years and its worse than ever now.. anybody have any suggestions to cure or help with this. What oils to use?
It's been a minute since you posted this but you may be having an imbalance in your colon and or allergic reaction to your hair products. I used castor oil direct to the scalp for decades with no problem and after 2 surgeries & mandatory antibiotics after they jacked the balance of my intestinal flora and then poof I can no longer use castor oil direct to the scalp. I researched a lot and tried many things-diets, probiotics supplements and the only thing that brought me back was the 7 day detox by Queen Afua. i still cannot put oil on my scalp too much but for almond oil and i am going to experiment with avocado oil next. I use the castor oil blend i make in the hair itself only now. There are videos on scaby scalp. Hope you check em. Cut sugar out. Increase coconut milk yogurt and oil in your diet if possible.
Ive not been wanting to oil my locks, just my scalp and water for the rest of my hair but it seems to work for you. Your locks are beautiful; very healthy looking, and the coloring is absolutely gorgeous.

Some guys like to be fancy too I don't mind smelling flowers!
Gabriel Maroto same for me
Same here honestly. I could wear a nice cologne on my body but my locs could be smelling like peppermint or cotton candy from the shampoo i use😂
Rose water must be a very good moisturizer. I'm hearing about more and more now days. Also raw aloe vera gel.
Dreaded Up205 i love the aloe vera gel!! so great for seboric dermatitis.
Gothic Wyno do you use the plant or you buy the gel premade?
Gothic Wyno do you use the plant or you buy the gel premade?
I buy it premade off amazon from amara organics. It works really well for razor burn too after shaving.
Gothic Wyno I don't shave much anymore so it'll be just for the hair on top it my head.
Great video! I'm four months into my loc journey and have been struggling with keeping my locs moisturized. Will try these tips out!
Have a blessed journey
Hey Paige, how are the locs 5 years in?
@@DeltaChi16 LMFAO right i wanna know too
how do you keep your locs so bright in colour and can you do a video of what natural oils you use?
I use rose water and vitamin E with equal parts on my two strand twist. I am going to get locks next month. great video and thanks foe sharing.

What type of Rose water do you use and where could I purchase it at??
Regina Galloway heritage products in the pink bottle from amazon. Also altyea from vitamin shoppe or amazon is good too.
The first is rose oil and vortexed water. The latter is actual steamed rose water. Both are really good.

one of the reasons I subscribe to ur channel is ur tips really help a lot!!! thanks and keep doing wat ur doing. Also wat are the shampoos that u think aren't so harsh on locs? I use VO5 and it helps a lot.
Anita Alcott add a few spoonfuls of a carrier oil into your shampoo if it's too harsh and drying.
Keisha Charmaine Never thought of that thank you 😊😊😊
hello Keisha can u do a video about locking the hair with extentions I have extentions on permed hair an I don't know how to start twisting it cause it's thick now at the root. or should I go to shop to get it started this would be my real hair
I won't make a video on that because I do not want to encourage that. I believe in locking natural hair.
I don't feel comfortable telling you what you "should" do either. But I think you know what I think love.
Is there a such thing as over moisturizing with natural oils? e.g Castor oil, Tea Tree oil, Olive oil. Is it bad to use them everyday?
Yes you can definitely over moisturize. Too much oil can clog your pores and follicles which will result in limited hair growth and pimples, cause build up in locs, irritate scalp, etc.
what kind of rose water do you order from Amazon there are a few different kind?
After you oil and spray you hair do you lock your hair?
I love your videos. I thought I was already subscribed since I've watched so many of your videos, but I haven't so new subbie here.

Since I have low porosity hair should I still get locks or no? lol I was wondering would the process be different
