0:30 - $900 for a weekend of groceries... but how much would actually be going into CB’s pocket?
I actually did the math, which is a very specific scenario to do math for. My other work includes how many bites it would take to eat the average human.
Assuming it’s a whole weekend in the hotel, that’s 6 meals for the main two days, dinner from Friday and breakfast from Monday. That’s 8 meals per person. That’s a total of 144 meals. Each meal would have to cost $6.25 to add up to $900, and that’s only if each person eats 8 meals, and each meal costs exactly $6.25.
Hotel breakfast is usually complimentary. If they all eat three complimentary meals, that leaves 90 paid meals. That is significantly less, and would bring it to $10 per meal. For me, the components of a meal (and I don’t mean just a few eggs or a single bowl of cereal, I mean an entire carton of eggs and a box of cereal) is $3-$5.
That’s more than double the cost of a single meal (in my experience), considering you make it yourself with generic (and if you’re on a trip, you’re already spending a lot of money, so you’ll wanna keep the costs down) ingredients.
It’s a trip, so let’s say they eat out twice at moderately good restaurants. $10 per meal is $180, that’s $360 on restaurants and we’ll assume they split the check because it’s such a big group.
So that’s 54 meals made with gRoCeRiEs. That’s $16 per meal, and even if each meal was $8, that’s still $432 for groceries, which sounds like a lot but it’s really not when you remember it’s 18 people and how much groceries cost.
I did the math, and even with brand name products, groceries for that weekend would be about $257.58 ($4.77 per meal), that leaves $642.42 in CB’s pockets.
On average, a single person usually spends $250 per *_month_* on groceries. The total cost of their groceries for a month would be $4,500. About $150 a day to feed them. That’s around $350 for the trip, leaving CB with $550.
Both numbers from my own experience and the average (according to Google) have similar answers, with around $100 difference.
CB either has a huge misunderstanding of how much groceries cost or is trying to get money out of OP and friends.
Please correct me if I’ve done any of the math wrong!

As a Christian myself, one rule that she failed to note is that when it comes to the Blessed Father and Yeshua; you can not impose him on others, you can only offer to let others come to know him of their own free will. If he wanted his law forced down our throats, he'd have done so by himself by now; however he doesn't and therefore, while I make absolutely no pretense to call myself a perfect Christian - I have a LOT of work to do on that, I admit - I know at least that rule and it's one she's blatantly failed to realize. After all isn't it said that "One who excels themselves shall be humbled and one who humbles themselves shall be excelled."

Kind of like what happens when you combine sodium and chrolide, you get salt without actually exploding your organs from the inside.

As someone with ADHD, the CB who told the person to leave their Aderal at home, I would be very ticked. ADHD medication isn’t exactly something you can just “not take”, especially if you have been taking it consistently for a long time. I personally haven’t taken Aderal, but I have taken similar medications, and let me tell you, it feels weird to be off it. I was part of a research study when I was younger, where I would have to be 100% off of it the actual day of the study. Meaning, I couldn’t take it a few days leading up. I’m glad this took place during the summer, cause I struggled a lot more with the symptoms than I normally do
I think the general misconception stems from the fact that the generic name for Adderall is methylphenidate, so many people automatically assume it's a methamphetamine, which it is not.
In same boat, diagnosed as an elementary age kids. My mom, God bless her, managed to homeschool me and kept me off prescription meds till late highschool. I tried taking a break over the first summer cause I thought it would not be a big deal. Became more distracted and lacked any energy. After one day back on meds I had a complete turnaround back to normal. Makes a big difference.

I have ADHD and have been taking Adderall since I was 7. Adderall you can go off your meds for a few but oh boy. If you're on a trip. Take em. I for one forget things and on trips. You need to remember a lot tbh. Like your stuff. Where stuff is. Times. Meeting places. And things you find interesting about where you are. I personally can go off my meds for a few but once I start taking them again. I become Completely zombified and numb. So it's best to take them all week and maybe not on weekends.
