I don't study art, but can draw a little bit. I mainly draw landscape.
On my close friend's birthday, I gave her a picture of a wooden house with forest behind and a lake. She LOVED IT.
Another girl demanded me (yes, she literally demanded me, not asked) to draw for her. I said that would be 10$ and her face is like "Why the heck do I have to pay ?".
She can't even be considered a friend of mine, and yet she wanted to be treated like my best friend
I'm a business consultant, but I had Art friends during highschool and college, I even contributed on some pieces and I've seen their struggle. Whenever I have a business client that coincidentally needs an artist also, I clearly tell them to pay the artist. If they can pay me good money for just "talking to their face" (mostly financial advice so they won't go bankrupt), pay the artist for something that enriches their lives.
Well, the problem is that there are so many "artists", many of which are utter crap and greedy morons, but also many more that are decent but struggle to find any work, that often people can just look around until they find somebody that is willing to do it almost for free just for the hope of getting more contracts.
(I personally will not pay any artist cause i do not need any art. But for fucks sake - if you want good art then you also gotta expect to pay for it. if you can turn out one good picture a day, taking into account material costs, transportation, storage and so on, you'd still be talking about 100$/piece just to get started.)

About the guy fixing a CB's computer: He should've told her 'of course, I'll get right on it' and then either reformat the whole damn thing or create an admin account with a password she'll only get if she pays him the full amount, plus extra for services. That would've been a nice one for a revenge reddit. ^^

@@natsudragneel-ir7sr I'm a little late to reply to this but I'll reply anyway, depending on the artist they were talking to there could be a slim chance that they're talking about body painting but usually when people are talking about a full body in terms of commissions they're talking about drawing a person / character from the head all the way down to the feet. Painting is just a way of coloring or kind of like a style in a way.
What is a relief is finding out not all entitled kids have entitled parents.

A family “friend” wanted to come visit us cause she haven’t seen us in years. She didn’t have the money though and asked if we’ll pay and she will pay us back, she get disability checks monthly. Even though I told my parents it’s a bad idea, they paid for her trip. Turns out I was right, she now acts like she already paid and even said we was bullying her. Jesus, if an artist offered full-body commissions for $20 bucks, I'd demand they charge me more, cause that is *grossly* underpaying them! I regularly pay $50+ for commissions, and I'm almost always happy with what I get.
