Dude! I did not expect you to mention the Crazy, Stupid Love twist! 😂 That’s probably my favorite romantic comedy and that plot twist had me and my theatre howling!
Of course, my favorite though is, “No. I am your father”. That is arguably THE greatest twist in movie history.

YES!!!! Primal Fear absolutely had to be on this list. The ending still shocks me. I’ve recommended it to several friends and honestly I can’t recommend it enough. Amazing film and Edward Norton is brilliant!
But... Frailty, I absolutely agree is #1. That movie had me intrigued and engaged the entire time. I was completely thrown for a loop when I saw the ending. Such a great twist and I too recommend it to anyone I know. It is excellent!

I'm so glad you gave Frailty the recognition it deserves. I pride myself on typically predicting some aspects of a movie by the end but one movie that kept me guessing and guessing until the reveal to where my wife and I both screamed "WHAT?!" with chills was The Visit.

Frailty was a blind buy for me and wow when I finally popped it into the player I was floored! Such an amazing movie watch it when you have the time to really sit and watch it. I agree 100%! The actors, direction, plot, and music made this a cinematic masterpiece one won't soon forget after watching this coming of age story. The twist in the movie is taboo yet not talked about enough. The movie had the courage to do so. Logan mastered the role. Finally, and rip David Bowie..."HERO!"

I would put The Sixth Sense on the list. Probably one of the best twists ever. However, I went to the theater not knowing the twist. Plus it was right after I lost my Dad, so the twist and the scenes after really hit me emotionally. Great list!!!!!

The Prestige was truly great. It has stuck with me ever since I first watched it. The psychological effect the rivalry has on the men and the people around them is unforgettable. I’m glad you brought up the line Jackman said about not knowing if he drowns or is the prestige because that does seem to confuse people. And I appreciate how Nolan didn’t explain it too much. It makes the whole situation more eerie.

Given Cody's age (about a year or two younger than me), that probably falls into the same category as Sixth Sense. There were a lot of great plot twists in the late 90s and early-2000s that were ruined for those of us who were kids at the time. Most of them were spoiled on fucking TV shows before they'd left the theater.

In reality, that very may have been the best twist when it first came out, but I would go as far to say it's no longer even a twist since everyone knows it, and that not knowing or expecting it is the definition of a twist. (I'm not trying to be a contentious, it was/is a great plot device, but I just don't think it can even be considered a true twist anymore.)

The ending to The Gift and what they were insinuating leaves you with a sickening feeling...so uneasy. Very good film.

I had never heard of rudderless so thank you for making me interested in watching it. I just did and it was awesome. I wasn't THAT caught off guard regarding the twist just because as soon as they talked about a shooting I remembered We Need To Talk About Kevin, which touches the subject in a completely different way. great video(:

Dude, I just watched Frailty with my mom two weeks ago. She was completely blown away. I had already seen it before and you're right it is a great movie. But if I'm not mistaken, the people killed in the movie actually were supposed to be demons, even the older son which is why he is so rebellious toward the dad as the movie progresses and it which is also why he can't see the "people" as demons. My mom and I talked about the film after watching it and it seems that all the demons were killers.

I know, I had a hard time believing the father the whole movie (because of the narrative presented the whole time) and then at the end, it's like, "Damn, he was right all along." Great movie! Shocker ending.

This is a great list. Here's my list:
    1. The second act/ending of Mulholland Drive
    2. Shutter Island
    3. Incendies
    4. The Sixth Sense
    5. Blade Runner 2049
    6. Knives Out
    7. The Accountant (Brilliant/underrated film)
    8. Gone Baby Gone
    9. Fight Club
    10. The Dark Knight Rises (Talia Al Ghul being the secondary villain. I love the reveal and her arc connects to Bruce and Bane in a great way)
    Honorable mentions:
    1. Frailty
    2. The Empire Strikes Back
    3. Lucky Number Slevin
    4. Annihilation
    5. Primal Fear
    6. Ocean's Twelve (Underrated movie with a twist that reframes the story)

    1. Empire Strikes Back (Turns the whole movie on its head)
    2. Memento (remember first watching it and my jaw literally dropped at how much we were led to believe turned out to not be true.)
    3. Sixth Sense (Again, I was so amazed at how Shamayalan was able to put that twist in there.)
    4. Fight Club (The best schizophrenic twist in movie history)
    5. Unbreakable (Gives me the chills every time)
    6. Prestige (I like how the whole movie fits together)
    7. Friday the 13th (I disregard that bullshit hospital scene, the movies ends with Jason pulling Alice into the water)
    8. Se7en (Kevin Spacey’s whole plan is a twist, I can’t type it all out)
    9. Us (That sent chills down my spine)
    10. Gone Girl (Twists everything onto its head)

One that always got me as a kid was Judge Doom being revealed to be a toon in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Like Sleepaway Camp, the twist wasn't who the villain was, but WHAT the villain was.

Oh yes, Sleepaway Camp... lmao, no kidding, I was so young and naive when I saw this film for the first time, I didn't really understand what was going on in that last scene. But when I saw it a few years later again, my mouth just dropped.

  • @nikitaaverin

GOOD CALL! "Frailty" is amazing. It just keeps on going with twist after twist after twist. Within 2 minutes my jaw basically dug a hole to Australia.
I mean until the last few minutes, it was a great movie. Extremely harrowing with great performances and beautifully shot. But the ending knocked my socks off. I usually can see twists coming, but Holy F! This flick relentlessly turned it on its head in a manner that is insane.
I recently showed it to my BF who was raised in a very religious (Catholic) family and he was not a fan of the ending, since he had hoped that it would be open-ended and leave the rest to the audience. I disagree with his opinion, but get where he's coming from.
(I would give a shout-out to "Fight Club", "Wild Things" and "Orphan".)
