People believe, a new product is always better, that's wrong especially whn it comes to reliability !!
Germans experiment a lot, so it can be a success or failure. Reality is mostly failure
Japanese always stick to basics that make them reliable at first place
American knew only to make gas hog V8 & V10 (inlines are most reliable) that are already faded from market
A real car enthusiast is who is expert/experiment with stick shift !
People mostly are afraid to experiment on cars/driving, that makes them a bad manual driver
Go to a traffic free road and experiment a manual gear car by selecting each gear to its minimum speed (without accelerator pedal) and to maximum speed (till redline). Dam, in a manual car u can even reduce the default slow speed by pressing break pedal on each gear.
If u r getting issues with leg ache use ur lower part of feet (from toe to heel) and feel the leverage. Even, if needed, u can use ur left foot under ur right foot for getting better leverage while breaking (while no shifting). Use neutral gear and learn what momentum is. U learn heel & toe shifting. U learn engine breaking, especially at downhill corners. Do rev matching. Do a clutch dumping and feel what's there under hood. While upshifting, skip alternate gears (2,4) by reving a bit more. Drive on straight line AWA twisty hilly terrains and fee the difference. I mean I can go on & on .......... It never damage the Engine reliability if
    1) Proper engine temperature, 2) Never sitting on redline 3) No stalling 4) Clean oil 5} Clean air filter , 6) good shifting, Plus it should be a proper Japanese built NA gasoline engine, especially one like ......HONDA.
Even if u forget to do ur homework, wont break ur bank like the modern high tec craps !!
Its been many years brands making IC engines, so every top brands know to make a descent reliable car. The problem here is each one has their on USP (customer preference)
Petrol is reliable than Diesel coz its easy to burn
Petrol meant for Power/Speed (best at RPM Mid & High end), Diesel meant for Torque(best at RPM low& Mid range)
NA engine is reliable than Turbo coz its a gradual burning/heat dissipation
More displacement best coz less engine strain & ware
Engine stop-start AWA, Cylinder deactivation is bad coz of temperature variation b/w cylinders / engine
Aero design makes less air resistance
Light weight car, less engine strain
Suspension -Stiff for highways(handling) & soft for off-road (ride)
Electronic steering (soft at slow / hard at high), but it depends how hard at high speed. Hydraulic(reliable) is best at high speed but terrible at slow turns.
Wider the tire better at high speed but bad at low turning
Stiffer the chassis better handling. Longer wheelbase (bad at cornering but good at high speeds) & Vise versa
Honda - best petrol engines, better handling (manual best)
Toyota - best diesel/ better petrol engines, (torque converter best)
VW - better diesel/ good petrol, best handling (dsg best)
Ford - better diesel/ good petrol, better handling
    Suzuki - better petrol
    Hyundai - better diesel
Tata & Mahindra - good diesel, Now a days they outsource engine & transmissions
Big 3 Germans(Merc,Bimmer,Audi) - Focus on over engineered Luxury/Gimmicks Electronics
America-Italian (Fiat-Crystler)- Better Diesel by Fiat, Crystal is good for nothing
French-Japanese(Reno-Nissan-Mistubishi) - good diesel by reno,(They merged to avoid bankruptcy)
Mazda-Subaru are best with high revving boxer (unreliable) engines

Safety - More, the driver knows about his machine and the road conditions, more its safe , BTW, Our roads got vehicles from bikes to heavy trucks.......lol
performance & weight is inversely proportional to fuel efficiency........ i mean, we can't get everything we want.
    We should compromise on some
Old Innova is reliable coz its NA, not like todays Turbo Crysta. Similarly, City 4th gen is reliable than 5th gen coz its PFI not GDI
The IC engineering is too much complicated..... lol.... EV is better, but Hydrogen is the best.

I own a Slavia 1.0 style DSG variant. Have driven 2000km in 1month
    1. Slavia looks much much better than the new City. Its a personal choice but I own a blue slavia and it looks amazing on road
    2. The mileage is very dynamic. Lowest I have gone in city B2B traffic is 9kmpl but have gone as high as 22kmpl in winding roads in Uttarakhand.
Dehradun city traffic its around 12-15kmpl. Satisfied.
    3. Absolutely love the ground clearance of this car. Was the major reason I went for a sedan instead of a full sized SUV.
    4. My grandma (86yrs) was sitting very comfortably for 3hrs ride in the rear seat. Though she said the front seat comfort is better that rear (guessing due to the recline angle)
    5. The boot space is absolutely massive. 5stars.
    6. Up till 1700 till 2000 rpm, I feel the engine shows a lag. U definitely feel it. Its better if you drive in Sports.
    7. The AC is not very impressive in the rear seats.
    8. Sound quality is amazing.
    9. There is an issue will electronics in the car. Sometime the driver window does not roll down. Sometimes the sunroof does not open. You need to shut the engine and restart to resolve this. This issue comes like 2 times out of 10
    10. You can open the boot door from the key. But sometimes the door does not fully open. It goes up till 60-70% only. Dont know of this is a feature or an issue
    11. The alloys look amazing.
    12. ORVM I feel are slightly smaller (smaller view)
    13. Brake noise is there. Very evident while backing or when the car is moving slowly. Dont know why there is rust on the front discs so soon
    14. Got the thickness of paint tested. Came around 115 on bonnet. 130around doors. Inside it was around 90-100. Comparatively it was better that Tata I was told.
    15. i feel, start stop button should be on the right hand side of gear stick.
    16. Back seat is very spacious. Recline could be better though
    17. Interior looks great. Satisfied
    18. DSG gearbox:
I feel while going from D1>>D2 and then to D3 there is a lag. The rpm sometimes goes up till 3000 or over before changing to D3. So What I do is I use the paddle+ shifter and mover from D2>>M3 and the rpm comes down to 1500-2000rpm.
Got better mileage this way and after few meters M3 changes to D3 or (M4 & then D4, depending on the speed I am at)
    19. Have driven it from Dehradun- Delhi route continuously. Started from dehradun, reached Delhi in 5.5hrs, stopped for 2,3hrs and drove back to Dehradun, wasn’t tired or exhausted
    20. Have driven it from Dehradun-New tehri-Mussoorie route. Was a great enjoyable ride. I felt the DSG gearbox was speeding the car way more than I would want it to. Was reaching 50 kmph in the hill ls
    21. Have driven dehradun - Lansdown route. This is where It reached almost 22 kmpl which was very surprising

      Hey I own a Slavia 1.0MT Style NSV, Jan 2023 model;
      most of the above issues you have mentioned aren't there now, may be they have learnt from their mistakes and have rectified most of them;
haven't faced any rattling noise, squeaking sounds, haven't felt any breaking noise , AC is adequate haven't faced any issues with them or the exhaust smell coming in nor the ventilated seats getting loud,
I have the non sunroof variant so not sure of heating up of cabin due to that.
also haven't seen any of the other issues you have mentioned,
Would want to highlight that even without disc breaks at the rear, the breaking performance is solid better than city, if you have seen zigwheel's comp video .
and as much as i wanted to hate the AC system , i'm liking this new touch AC system.
i guess since mine is a non sunroof one it has sunglass holder.
reverse camera is bad, but for someone who is coming from a 10 year old innova which didnt have any cam, this is just a gimmick for me, never really used reverse camera.
Mileage is decent for a petrol engine , i can easily get 10 in b2b, have driven it only for 1500 kms so far, heard it will improve.
though the quality is not a typ vag standard its decently good. feel like a 10 to 15% downgraded quality compared to the older gen cars!

TSI engine doesn't means all of these has active cylinder technology. It's only with 1.5 lit TSI. The 3 cylinder has no ACT. Now during the lauch of kushaq the EPC error was not due to engine but it's due to fuel pump. Now that's different and need to understand. Haven't heard of any ACT features failure of TSI engine till now. It's not new . AUDI has been using this since last 6 years. So it's not right to mention this technology is unreliable. So facts to know before telling.

What you said is 100% true. Am VW Vento user for 8 years. When I saw the new Virtus, I felt very bad, and I started hating it. How can one compromise on their roots? You can compromise on the features, but not on quality. Its ok if you give less things, but whatever you give, just try to match your brand value. Looking at VM Virtus and Skoda Slavia, I feel like Slavia is much better. But overall, quality is not up to the standards of VM/Skoda.

  • @EmpusaGamingYT

Hey! so a few things I would like to point out about the review and the video as well.
    1. The bronze or silver strip running across the dashboard, yes its not very high quality and if u "try" to shake it, it will move but frankly who will play with that element so much that it would break.
    2. U were mentioning TSI and cyc deactivation, So yes TSI is very complex I totally agree with that part, if something was to go wrong it would be complex. Cyc deactivation doesnt work in 1.0 engines as its 3 cyc, it would have been better if you would have pointed this out as well.
    3. I feel every reviewer compares Slavia/virtus interior quality with Vento or rapid which is pointless as that cars are not on sale, so its a request plz compare interiors and all to cars that are on sale rn, like city, verna, ciaz etc, I've never sat in a Polo, rapid, vento etc, so it becomes difficult to compare builds.
Rest of the vid was on point!

I took test drive Skoda Kushaq, and Slavia, I think Kushaq is better, but one question to ask yourself. Is it worth to buy paying high price.
Today Indian roads are bad to ensure, you consistently maintain 100km/hr speed. You need to often keep breaking, due to this, your mileage drops, brake pad get wear and tear quickly also the suspension get damaged pretty badly, if one decides to keep making speed on bumpy road.
What is point of buying high power and speed vehicles, when our roads are not right condition. Also there is not indication or sign, where the speed breaker is there, road reflectors, etc. This is the big issue.
I think AutoCritic, needs to speak, buying a high cost car worth it like Slavia or Kushaq, etc any other brands above 10lk? Also another thing to note, ethanol is increasing to 20% in 2023 (mandatory by Govt of India), check if buying today, your vehicles support it.

Great. You offered an excellent review of the car in a comprehensive way. I got frustrated by the the way people are promoting brands in the name of reviews. As you rightly said, a review should be based on ownership experience over a period of time.
Simply poring out exclamations and only dealing with “ride” and “handling “ while reviewing a car doesn’t help a buyer who puts lakhs of rupees of hard earned money.
In contrast to the above, you covered all aspects a buyer would normally consider before making a decision.
The so called reviewers are becoming mouth pieces of brand advertising- you stand apart.
Keep doing this type of good work👏👏

    इसका built quality के बारे में आपको कैसे पता लगा अंकल. कहीं ठोका क्या ?
बैसे खामियां बहुत है of Course. 21 Lakh में manual driver seat adjustment. Non HD reverse camera, low quality seat cover.
    But Plz don't compare to Honda or Hyundai.... दूर दूर तक कोई comparison ही नहीं बनता...

After more than 15 years in India( Skoda came, before VW), WHY THEY IMPORT 1.5TSI? I can't drive a 1.0TSI with 16" wheels! A four cylinder engine simply, goes out of my budget!! I don't want rattle of a three cylinder engine for 15 lakh sedan? Doesn't second largest car maker of the world, lacks technical skills in India? When would we get a Made in India 1.5TSI? MAKING IT AFFORDABLE!!!

@@bhavanyadav1111 I own a 2016 WagonR with three cylinder n.a.engine!! I know, you can't compare, apple with an orange, but, when you pay, 15 lakhs, you need car with Zero NVH, even if waiting for a signal, without turning off the engine!!! I can challenge you, A three cylinder turbo engine, will rattle like a Diesel, at idling!!
I won't pay 15 lakh for this Diesel like rattle!!! Why they killed Vento/Rapid!! Their sizes were perfect for Indian road traffic!!!
They just killed their @10 lakh product!!!
How a world leader in cars, have such a disastrous strategy??

Prakyat ji, 'Gyaniji' has not responded!! Woh 'Kuch Bhi' keh kar, muze 'Murkh' thehrea Gaye!!
I need not 'drive' a three cylinder engine car, for my criteria of 'zero NVH'!! Can you do this for me?
Just start the engine, open driver's door, & wait!! I am sure, it will vibrate!! 'Ham Bharatiya hain'!!
I remember,in 1986, Hero Honda had increased price of its 100 cc CD100 to 15 thousand rupees!!
      I couldn't buy it!!
Now, suddenly, when I was planning to buy a 1.2TSI Vento( Obviously to escape 1.0TSI), THEY STRANGLED THE ENGINE FOR BS6 crap!! Does second biggest car maker( VAG), doesn't have infrastructure to make a 1.2TSI BS6? & BS6 again, will expire this year!!!
I want to buy a Sedan, that too 'powerful' than Dezire/ Amaze/ Hyundai 1.2 n.a.!! I don't have 20 lakh!!( Just like 15 thousand in 1986)!! Please, help me to let this be known to VAG, to give a 4 cylinder TSI in 10 lakh bracket!!
I have very few years of driving left!! & Doesn't want to end up in Punch/ Citron/ Venue/ Dezire/ Amaze category!! Basically, I dread this three cylinder monster!!
Maruti four cylinder engines are Makkhan!! But I wanted Vento/ Rapid build quality & driveability!!!
Skoda came to India, in 2001, means, it's 21 year old company, Import's the 'Best' engine? This is the workmanship? Even VW, parent company is more than 10 years old!! I challenge you, they would be making a 'Flexi fuel' engine in Brazil VW!! They can't make a petrol 1.5TSI in India?
Still think India is a Shit-hole?( Normal thinking of all European companies)!! If Maruti can make a Makhaan N.A. engine, which is reliable & popular, why VAG cannot? That is my concern!!
