Thanks so much for coming along on this adventure with me. I have a packed next few months coming up (Millie is returning to the channel too)... but if you have any suggestions of unique luxury trains, planes or even ships let me know :)
Hi, I think you might enjoy the Belmont Simplon Eastern and Oriental Express from Singapore to Bangkok. And if you want to get your feet wet have a look at the SS Sudan the last original paddle steamer to ply the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. I can recommend both trips. But in truth Sir your take on any travel experience will be entertaining!👍

Being South African born and bred, and having driven across the Karoo, it all looked so familiar. There is a energy in the ground in Africa and unless you have been there you don't understand it. It made me feel both so homesick but also proud to see the scenery, the sunsets and the beautiful train and proper luxury from a era long ago that is far more luxurious than anything modern that is touted as 'luxury' or 'premium' which don't hold a candle to this - this is proper old school luxury and attention to detail at it's finest. A fabulous video and journey and a new subscriber to your channel too! Thanks again fella.

I'm so glad you traveled on our Pride of Africa. I did the trip from Pretoria to Cape Town in 2019. The detail in everything is mind blowing. The Staff are fantastic. Missed Millie. Please come back with her. So glad you had a great time. 💕
OMG I did a similar journey from Cape Town to Pretoria 10 years ago on ROVOS rail in the deluxe suite on my 40th birthdays and it is a journey I will NEVER forget… As you say, the food and the service were both amazing and I would do it again in a heartbeat… My journey was (sadly) only 2.5 days, but Kimberly and the BIG HOLE was quite spectacular… I get your point that you needed down time, but you missed out… That hole is HUGE!!! Thank you for bringing back memories for me… Just GORGEOUS!!!
I love your train videos. Brings back childhood memories. Riding the train (Algoma Central Railway). Back in the 1960s-1970s. From Sault Saint Marie. To my grandparents hunting and fishing lodge in Canada. Not to far from Agawa Canyon .it was at mile marker 93. Trains sure have changed.
Awww, I have fond memories of taking the Algoma train in the 1970s. My parents, aunt, uncle, 4 cousins, my 3 siblings, and my grandma and grandpa. Beautiful scenery! My grandpa did just “rest his eyes” for a bit - I can picture him napping! He was a kindly, garden-loving soul ❤️
Will I am a South African who has been following your trips the last while. It put a smile on my face that the picture you chose for the Drakensberg at 3:17 is one taken at Dragon Peaks Park in the central berg, which is my family's property. One of the most beautiful places in the world, I hope you get to visit it at some point.

It’s a shame the scenery stays pretty much the same throughout the journey, however I think taking it very easy & relaxing this train for a few days would be the most wonderful experience. I had never heard of Rovos before, but I’m glad I do now!
Went on the ROVOS RAIL just six months ago, met Bianca a lovely lady..this is one of the finest train rides in the world with excellent personalized service and a travel experience that lives up to its five star reputation..with absolutely breathtaking scenery throughout the journey. Highly recommended!

I definitely would like to enjoy a drink with you, Will. If you were to come my way (Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia Canada), it would be my pleasure to show you around the Miners Museum, where I used to volunteer. Cheers 🍻
my father was a train driver, originally with steam loco's and when he switched to diesels, at 7 years old he gave me the chance to drive one, Trains are in my blood and every country i work in I always try to travel by train. So thank you so much for sharing your marvelous journeys.
I agree. It’s so traditionally cool. His videos are very well-made when you compare them to others, and his demeanor and way of speaking complement the film completely
Completely enthralled with every aspect of this trip especially the dining experiences! Fabulous royal suite! A delight to watch, with your enthusiasm permeating the camera 😊! Thank you 😊!
Absolutely great work! The pacing, voiceover editing, added graphics, music, and the way you guide us through the adventure is extremely enjoyable. You can tell you pour your heart into this. Keep doing your thing man!
You really are living the dream dude with some of these adventures and it's wonderful for us less fortunate to experience it vicariously through you. I love this channel 🙂
Love to see your travels videos, but unfortunately I'm in a wheelchair and a double lower leg amputee, but seeing the word through your eyes is a enjoyable and interesting experience, a big thanks for sharing your life via travels.
as a poor american I really do enjoy these kinds of videos. I feel like I am traveling with you and others as y'all show us your journeys. I feel like I am on a mini vacation and I just love it. what a way for a person with limited means to relax on the weekend. thank you.
Done this six times simply the very best way to travel. And I would recommend it to anyone. Not a cheap way but you really do get what you pay for. The best bit for us was undoubtedly the observation deck at the rear of the train, oh and the food and the luxury and the service and everything else.
I live in South Africa and I didn’t even know about this train experience 👀 Also it’s always quite hilarious when people not from South Africa have to experience loadshedding as we’re so use to it happening in the country 😂 Glad you had a wonderful time and loved to see a video of my country
😂 I was thinking the same thing! Had no idea this train existed. I know The Blue Train here so I wonder how it stacks up to this. And agree! Really excited to see a video of our wonderful country. 😁😁😁😁
@@sherryramirez6329 losdshedding sucks at night but then again its only for 2 hours at a time if all goes as it should. most ppl have generators and such things now.
What complete luxury! When I win the lotto…. This is on the bucket list! 😂 so proud of this South African wonder. Thanks for your excellent filming and commentary …..it was as if I was travelling with you. 😎
I am so glad your channel popped up when I logged onto TH-cam. You have such a soothing and pleasant voice; it is an absolute delight watching your videos. I cannot believe HOW BIG that bathroom is; a shower AND a bathtub??!!! Talk about luxurious!!! Watching you getting into that king size bed made me jealous. That bed looks so comfortable!! I can't believe the size of your suite; it's massive!! I love your sense of humor that they might have to wheel you off of the train after enjoying all of those wonderful meals.
Just finished your video, I've seen some luxury trains but did not realize it went to this extent, amusing to know you experienced load shedding that we endure daily. I can see why I never knew this existed because for over 100k one could buy a very decent second hand car. Thanks for the high praise of SA
As a South African subscriber who has been binge watching your older videos since discovering your channel a couple of months ago, this video has to be my favorite. (yes I might be slightly biased🤫) I hope you enjoyed your adventure in a not so sunny, wintery South Africa as much as it looked like you did!!! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us and letting us live our travel dreams through them. I wish you many more miles of safe travel adventures
Wow, You really landed on a luxurious train today. Watching the world go by in style. I loved the history and style behind it all. The food looked delicious. 🍾🥂😍❤️🇦🇺🦘
I have been to Joberg and also Liberia, although Joberg was beautiful and exciting, I cannot say that I fell in love with Africa, but glad others enjoy it! However, I enjoyed watching your trip - and the wonderful suite, the food of course, and your banter! Thanks for another trip - I flew for Pan Am thirty years ago and got to experience the world and all its fascinating cultures - I guess that I enjoy the cities much more than the rural, especially in Africa! Thanks again!
Hi from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia! I thoroughly enjoy your posts and this was no exception. What a beautiful train and what an experience for you to enjoy it's 1920's style and elegance. The food looked amaaazng! Looking forward to your future travels!
Yesss! I've been hoping you would try out the Rovos Rail! I'm so excited to watch this! Edit: This video brings back so many memories when my parents were on the train quite a few years ago. They filmed their journey on their video camera and I would always watch it as a kid. And of course it won't be South Africa without loadshedding making an appearance. I'm actually surprised that it also affects the train electricity network. It's a shame you didn't go on the Kimberley museum and Big Hole tour. The Big Hole is definitely something to see. Thank you for this video and for the amazing memories you brought back.
Hi 👋 Trek Trendy. WOW, an absolutely breathtaking trip in many many aspects! Loved the scenery, the beautiful train and the sumptuous food and drink. The service of the staff above all, makes this trip definitely one to add to the list along with the Venice Simpleton, and with a much better price tag! Missed you Millie but look forward to your next adventure 😁
Delighted to have stumbled upon your exceptional channel. How refreshing is your style. I actually felt as though I was right there with you. Thank you for such a delightful experience. Greetings from California.
Another amazing adventure Will, thank you. Your quiff at 1:27 really suits you. Oh and I agree crocodile tastes amazing. I had it when living in the Kimberley in Australia.
I've been on the blue train in south africa, now its nothing like as luxurious as the rovos train but still very luxurious, its worth a trip if you can. My trip was from Johannesburg to capetown. Keep up the good work, great video's. 👍
Just discovered your channel and have binged about 5 videos today. This is such satisfying watching with everyone you’d want to know included. You’ve added your own personality while also keeping it objective where needed. Looking forward to more escapism!
This is terrific Will, excellent filming and narrative. I can almost feel your pain with the endless provision of food and drink!! Good to see you enjoy the more exotic meats on offer. I can highly recommend a food stall at the Mindil Beach markets in NT Australia; the Roadkill Cafe, no explanation required! Keep up the excellent experiences Sir
I am a proud South African to see this trip through our beautiful country and to have Will experience our daily loadshedding was only slightly embarrassing for us. However I would love to see if he did the trip via train overland to Kenya also with Rovos. On a different note and maybe sadly, the state of our railway stations and abandoned trains was heartbreaking to see
Having been a passenger on SA Railways sleeper trains, I heartily recommend this experience. Take plenty of good books and/or magazines, so you don't have to spend too many hours staring out the window
The bathroom's twice the size of the one I have at home! Also, in comparison with the Orient Express - the journey's both longer and cheaper but still just as luxurious - just depends on the flight prices to SA, I suppose.
Absolutely stunning period details in those cars; six star menu; amazing Africa scenery; world class service. What's not to love about this trip? Price is surprisingly well placed for such an experience. In some ways, reminds me of the Ghan's platinum service across Australia -- and certainly affordable in compare with the Orient Express service. I plan to take this trip based exclusively on your video.
Been so excited to see this. Read about this train journey years ago and always wanted to go, but I’m in a wheelchair so doubt it’s possible. Did you see any wheelchair accessible cabins? Least I can live the trip through this video!
I’ve just looked on their website, it’s not wheelchair accessible but could be suitable for people with walking difficulties. Oh well I can just dream with you. x
@@richplant2205 Full accessibility is rare outside of the UK and Ireland, even Southern and Eastern Europe is often very hard to find it on public transport. Memories of 6mths in a wheelchair (back injury) whilst at school, being carried up and down the stairs at the stations and at school, in the wheelchair.
Will and Millie, I have greatly enjoyed your videos on luxury trains to the point that I have binge-watched several at a time. And I have a suggestion to make -- first, a little background: Back in Manhattan I used to date Tommy, an attractive male model who loved The Carlyle Hotel on Madison (where The Rolling Stone are known to stay.) But the drinks were SO expensive that one day I argued with Tommy that the bar area would be filled with casually/sloppily-dressed tourists so what was the point? Tommy's response was right out of the movies: "LET'S GO IN AND DECORATE THE PLACE!" What a unique idea that what we wear and how we look adds or detracts (those sloppy tourists) to/from the elegance of the place we are visiting. I am suggesting that you consider dressing more upscale (or perhaps conservatively) to better complement the elegant environments that you are temporarily inhabiting (even when you are not required to.) The folks who can afford to take these luxury trips are usually not very young folks as they have not yet made their fortunes and of course, these trips are very costly. Consider dressing to the standards of the older people who can afford to take these trips (not necessarily in expense but in style [and show less skin with evening wear]) so that you better complement the very elegant environment you are gracing -- I guaranteed that you will feel more comfortable that you "fit" there and you will enjoy the experience even more than you have in the past. I mean this merely as a suggestion that I believe with enhance not just your experience of the excursion but your viewers enjoyment of the piece -- YOU and MILLIE are temporarily a part of the environments you are exploring. Wishing you both every continued success!
I’ve actually been on rovos rail from pretoria to cape town 5 years ago. And I tell everyone who can go on that trip. That’s the best trip i’ve ever experienced. I have the most wholesome memory when me and my fiancee put our pillows up against the window, pulled it down at night, stuck our heads out and gazed at the stars with champagne. Just hearing the train in the pitch black night over the savanna, only gazing at the stars and talking shit and laughing will die with me. Best trip ever
Just noticed the counter reach 400k between the videos I watched, so congratulations on reaching 400k !! Discovered the channel a few days ago and since I dont get to travel much and have a massive fear of planes as well as a love for train travel. This is just giving me such a great opportunity to experience some form of travel through the eyes of someone else. It is lovely to see what kinds of trains are out there and even the aviation videos make me feel a little less sceptical about the idea of plane traveling. Cheers to many more fun rail bound and aviation adventures !!
I feel for you , its only that my love of Travel outweighs my fear of flying .... not by much , but as i live on a Island .... i kinda need to fly , or speed days just to get somewhere decent , i found alcohol helps me but in 25 days im doing Ireland to Singapore and i dont think my body can take being drunk for that long lol

my father was a train driver, originally with steam loco's and when he switched to diesels, at 7 years old he gave me the chance to drive one, Trains are in my blood and every country i work in I always try to travel by train.
Thanks so much, means the world to read comments like this 🙏🏼
@@Trektrendy I have a question, do you work for NASA because you usually wear nasa merch in your vids
You really are living the dream dude with some of these adventures and it's wonderful for us less fortunate to experience it vicariously through you. I love this channel 🙂
Mathew please help me
I need money for survival Please help
I’d like to travel with this guy for just one day. Always finds some of the best ways to travel that I’ve not considered previously
I'm from South Africa. Thank you so much for visiting us! Despite our silly loadshedding problems!
This was 100% worth the wait! Hope you’re doing good mate 👍🏼
Thanks Jon 🙏🏼
Absolutely stunning train can only dream about such adventures that you have taken 😊👍🏾❤️
Love to see your travels videos, but unfortunately I'm in a wheelchair and a double lower leg amputee, but seeing the word through your eyes is a enjoyable and interesting experience, a big thanks for sharing your life via travels.
this guy never fails to help me fall asleep while picturing luxury trains, planes, etc in my head.
as a poor american I really do enjoy these kinds of videos.
Been waiting for this video for a long time!!!! DID NOT DISSAPOINT🚂
I live in South Africa and I didn’t even know about this train experience 👀
Also it’s always quite hilarious when people not from South Africa have to experience loadshedding as we’re so use to it happening in the country 😂
Glad you had a wonderful time and loved to see a video of my country
i know someone who lives in SA and she was telling me about that. It must suck to be honest
😂 I was thinking the same thing! Had no idea this train existed. I know The Blue Train here so I wonder how it stacks up to this.
And agree! Really excited to see a video of our wonderful country. 😁😁😁😁
@@davidthaler7018 not only beyond South Africans. Beyond most average traveller's.
i also didn't know about it. wonder how much a ticket is. would be so. great to go one day.
WOW this is just ridiculously incredible. And from one of my favourite TH-camrs as well, the perfect combo!
One of the best bloggers so far I find. Simply outstanding.
What a beautiful train! Thanks for taking us all along for the luxurious ride. 😊
I'm actually happy with all the train rides you've been going on. It's not hard to find first class tours on planes but this is a special treat
Hi from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia! I thoroughly enjoy your posts and this was no exception. What a beautiful train and what an experience for you to enjoy it's 1920's style and elegance. The food looked amaaazng! Looking forward to your future travels!
17:36 I was the project manager for those red containers, it's nice to see how the enemy is doing #Team_blue_train
I like how u said, “South Africas Finest, Transnet..” lmao if only u knew… great content btw
Delighted to have stumbled upon your exceptional channel. How refreshing is your style. I actually felt as though I was right there with you. Thank you for such a delightful experience. Greetings from California.
It’s a complete package to watch-drinks,food,scenery & the gorgeous train.❤️
Amazing, mate. I really love your train videos. It is sensational ☺️Well done, mate 😊
The way you know that you are in South Africa is seeing all the litter laying around.
I must admit the amount of litter was a shock to me.
This is my new favourite blog yet so far sending my support all the way from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦

On a different note and maybe sadly, the state of our railway stations and abandoned trains was heartbreaking to see
You have a beautiful country sister
Having been a passenger on SA Railways sleeper trains, I heartily recommend this experience. Take plenty of good books and/or magazines, so you don't have to spend too many hours staring out the window
Even that coffee cup is a work of art. A beautiful train.

They surely MUST have accessible cabins. It would be illegal in the U.K. if they didn’t
I’ve just looked on their website, it’s not wheelchair accessible but could be suitable for people with walking difficulties. Oh well I can just dream with you. x
@@sarahgodfrey6456 that’s not good. It’s really not representative of my country, it wouldn’t be allowed.
@@tonys1636 😞 how retro. I guess safety has to come into the equation. But normal trains are accessible 🤷♂️
Will and Millie,
I have greatly enjoyed your videos on luxury trains to the point that I have binge-watched several at a time.
And I have a suggestion to make -- first, a little background:
Back in Manhattan I used to date Tommy, an attractive male model who loved The Carlyle Hotel on Madison (where The Rolling Stone are known to stay.) But the drinks were SO expensive that one day I argued with Tommy that the bar area would be filled with casually/sloppily-dressed tourists so what was the point?
Tommy's response was right out of the movies:
"LET'S GO IN AND DECORATE THE PLACE!"
What a unique idea that what we wear and how we look adds or detracts (those sloppy tourists) to/from the elegance of the place we are visiting.
I am suggesting that you consider dressing more upscale (or perhaps conservatively) to better complement the elegant environments that you are temporarily inhabiting (even when you are not required to.)
The folks who can afford to take these luxury trips are usually not very young folks as they have not yet made their fortunes and of course, these trips are very costly.
Hey Trek Trendy I love your content, both about trains and planes, are you planning on going over boats and cruises? I'd love to see that as well!
Lots planned ;) - thanks so much for watching

The volume difference between your real time commentary and voice-over is maddening. Your content is awesome, however, and worth suffering for. I'm absolutely chuffed to have stumbled across your channel!
Im South African and this has been on my bucket list for a while
What an absolute pleasure and privilege to watch your train travel videos. And what a surprise to see this beautiful video of our own South African Rovos Rail train experience you were able to enjoy. Wishing you many more amazing train travels and safe travels. Best wishes from Ivan Myburgh a South African living in Cape Town, South Africa 🇿🇦
I'm living vicariously through trek trendy and loving it.
i love this. bookmarked rovos rail under my South Africa To-Go list!
I could never, never experience such an experience.......but, your channel allows me to escape for a time from my troubling life and share in your experience and dream. Thanx for allowing us to share in your travels. It's a much needed escape from my reality. 😉👍😃
Thank you! I very much enjoyed this trip. It looked like you had so much fun and I’m glad you took time to rest.
I really like your videos, also there is something soothing about your voice ☘️
wow what a life you got man, thanks for making me see how nice traveling is when you take you time on a train
That Gin & Tonic hit you nice, always a joy to appreciate the more relaxing things in life. Seeing you enjoying yourself reminds me of the Shiki Shima in Japan that costs a pretty penny, beautiful and decadent.
I travelled in a suite like this in the earlier days of the railway...
My suite was called Namib.
Number 8103 !
Also had a bath.

I applaud your remarks on Better Help. Gorgeous train.
Can’t wait for the next most luxurious train of the world!
That's the Orient Express, which I've already reviewed. This is the self proclaimed worlds most luxurious train. Key is the detail ;)
Loves travelling as much as NASA. Loves eating as well as gawking in the amazing views. Loves caviar more than any other. Loves storytelling even from small things.
I have never felt like I was seeing myself right from my TV screen.

Wow! Pretty smooth Will. Another great adventure you’ve brought us. Thank you as always.
This video made me a subscriber. I have recently discovered your videos and I simply can not get enough of it. I may never be able to travel luxury style but through your videos I can get at least an idea on what it could be like. The way you talk and present your journeys lets me dream on being on the same journey. Looking forward for your next vlogs.
