We were very happy to go to London Philharmonic Orchestra Concert finale in 2018-2019 season at Royal Festival Hall. we really enjoyed Janine Jansen played Violin Concerto in D major, Op.77 (Brahms). Unforgettable!!!❤❤❤
I have seen the Brahms concerto performed live many times, listened to it on record and disk many times, but this performance is special. I actually prefer Jansen over Chang and Bell. Her performance of the Britten concerto also with Parvi is mesmerizing. The NHK Symphony Orchestra is brilliant under Jarvi's direction. This is one of those rare definitive performances.
Janine herself regards Britten as the most intense to perform. During her burn out she could not image herself playing especially Britten ever again. She says so here th-cam.com/video/j-Esgjpl6x0/w-d-xo.html 34:24. It's in Dutch but she said during that period she couldn't even listen to that kind of passionate music.
Talking about Britten, her performance with Harding and the Berliners at her younger age is still the best; unfortunately it has been removed from utube, waiting for somebody to upload it again.
True also the her playing is very Sustained I like Sustained tonality cause or sums up the theory in a modern form Albeit brahms did not have expected this interpretation but who likes old school these days
The coda of the 1st movement beginning at 21:09 is one of my favourite passages in all of music, and it’s done perfectly here - every voice comes through individually (those violas! 😍) and yet it all fits together immaculately.
Quante anime convivono in ognuno di noi? Quella mia neo -romantica e decadente si scioglie ancora ascoltando questo arcinoto concerto di Brahms. La Musica Bella sa parlare diverse lingue! 🤩 😍😊

Emotional! I have the impression, watching JJ, as if she forces her violin to add more and more, to correspond to her inner feeling playing the great maestro, Brahms!!!
The opening of the Brahms always reminds me of the Normandy D-Day landings. As the Orchestra builds the crescendo I visualize the landing crafts moving towards the beach and when the violin starts the solo I can see the ramps opening and the soldiers pouring out of the landing crafts and hitting the beach. And as the violin continues playing I can see the soldiers running and falling. I have had this vision since 1968.
Breathtaking, brilliant. You can see the enjoyment in her face of the beauty she is creating in the finale of the 3rd movement. A feast for the heart and soul.
It's raining rn. I haven't been able to hear the rain through the music, but right when the movement ended, the rain got super loud just at the perfect time. Amazing way to spend a night.
Listening to it leads to me towards moments of past where time and problems were more in consonance with reality. My youngness was a complet recall over music works like this. Perfect interpretation.
While we live in a time of many technical geniuses of the violin, Janine Jansen musicality, orchestra awareness and tonality is unrivaled in present times.

What strikes me is that this wonderful performance in Tokyo in 2016 has so many in the audience wearing masks... I thought it was a more recent performance where masks are found or there is no audience. What a crazy world in which we live. But the music is sublime. Thanks for posting this.
It has been normal in Japan for decades to wear a mask in public places if one has a cold or cough. They have a culture of being considerate to others.
My mother was a violinist and she adored Janine. My mom said she’d never seen a player like her. Janine has a chamber orchestra which does a resounding and amazing performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons which she plays violin and conducts. It’s the best I’ve ever seen and my mom said it’s up there with her as well.
Sublime. This performance is simply sublime. I am so thrilled to find this. The only problem is, the TH-cam adverts that pop up without warning (no, I will not pay billionaires for a TH-cam subscription so I can watch advert-free). These adverts are so jarring, not even between movements, but literally in the middle of phrases. Unconscionable. Here is a performance of the highest art, desecrated by capitalism. As I type this comment, I want to simply immerse myself in the music, but I can't - another advert could pop up at any moment. So, I will find a lesser interpretation, ad-free, something from the 1980s or earlier.
Evil is always lurking behind the corner. You have to keep angel Janine and sublime Brahms deep inside your heart. Only there evil will not find foothold.
Wow, so powerful and intense! This is the most exciting rendition of Brahms violin concerto I've heard since Heifetz. She beats any male violinist. Hope to see her live performance in my lifetime.
Why must every comment about a woman be sexist from you? She’s not playing with her breasts so why is it a gender competition? It only is for people who are sexist.
@@thisisanewchannel-wd7jlthat's interesting, I don't know quite why, but I feel the same. I think it's because women tend to be emotionally more expressive than men, whilst men tend to be more cold and straightforward than women.
Music gives meaning to sound, from meaning to sound, is born emotion. No need to introduce the Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, Op.77, by Johannes Brahms, perhaps the most beautiful of the romantic violin concertos. Yet it is reputed to be one of the most difficult concertos to play. It was composed by Brahms at the request of one of the great violinists of the 19th century! A first plan of the work was made in four movements. The composer deleted the « Scherzo » which would reappear three years later in the material of the Second Piano Concerto, Op.83. The first movement opens with an « Allegro non troppo » which gives way to an orchestra of unusual richness. This movement follows the classical form with the double exposition of the orchestra and then the soloist. The interweaving of secondary motifs reveals the main theme of Tzigane allure. The writing of the violin is innovative because of its breadth. However, she also evokes a tribute to classicism. Johannes Brahms liked to repeat that the second movement was his weakness for the « Adagio » despite its melancholy. The passionate singing of the solo oboe preparing the entry of the violin in this chapter is particularly moving and celestial. The harmonization with the only wind instruments suggests it to us with insistence. In this same part, Brahms allows himself an infinity of respirations for one of the most beautiful themes of the concertante literature. The « Allegro giocoso non troppo vivace » which closes the score revives melodies in the Hungarian style. The chords and rising octaves of the violin expand the technique of the instrument with sudden changes of measure. The brief cadence of Brahms' hand accentuates the feeling of exuberance of this page worthy of a peasant festival. This masterful work has become a great classic in the repertoire for violin and orchestra. A beauty! *Lucien*
Emozionante e vibrante interpretazione. Bellissimo timbro e vibrato del violino. Mano elegante e precisa. Bellissimo ed elegante il modo di allontanare i bellissimi capelli lunghi dal violino nei momenti più appassionati. Exiting and vibrant interpretation. Very beautiful sound and vibrato of the violin. Very beautiful and elegant the gesture of removing the beautiful long hair from the violin in the most passionate moments.
