    Interpretation is beautiful! The trills in the end and the cadenza are so clean and perfect. It is delightful to listen such a performance of Chopin nocturne. The tempo is also very calm and gives space for a beautiful and clear phrasing.

      in my opinion, she plays it andante and the way Frederic himself would have played it. Its andante but still with his signature rubato. Albeit i think its a bit muddled in parts as a result but i believe Chopin would approve of this recital more so that Rubenstein.

    Someone may play this as well as Valentina but no one can play it better. Toward the climatic ending you can see Valentina was 'all in' and could barely contain herself. Every child in their formidable years should be given the pleasure of listening to this marvelous piece of music. Chopin touches our souls with a melody so enduring we listen to every note as if each one of them is telling us a story. The word crossover is used when a musical arrangement is so alluring it attracts listeners who are not accustomed to such sounds and they are mesmerized by it's beauty. Chopin's 'style' touches our hearts with a universal rhythm and the worlds people are so joyful they have had the opportunity to listen to such beautiful music.

    This piece by Chopin is like a dream, a remembrance of someone once loved, once held close to the heart. It contains the thoughts and feelings, the sensations of past embraces, past moments now cherished in the memory of the heart. There is melancholy, yes, but also the earnest knowledge of how much this person was loved and is still loved. It is the song of someone who has come to fully possess the understanding of their own feelings of deep affection and appreciation for the person who is, and was the inspiration for such tender remembrance.
    Chopin is the only composer for the piano imo who comes close to the same depth of personal realization of Beethoven, who more than any other composer found full expression of his mind and heart in his music. Great artists manage to pour all of themselves out in their art. In the process of revealing their personal humanity they reveal great secrets of all shared humanity. Valentina does a wonderful job of telling Chopin's story of his remembrance of someone once loved and still held dear.

      +Chris Greco You are very mistaken, two separate eras of music, and Debussy as well connected along with about 20 other great composers. Time for you to start to listen to other great composers who connected with their hearts. As far as Beethoven, he despised being a composer. He was a pianist first, and when his loss of hearing came about he hated the fact that he had to "lower" himself to be a composer.

    • @areolaman
      @areolaman 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Matthew Wright That's like saying a stone mason hated the fact he had to lower himself to be a famous architect. Beethoven didn't achieve money or fame from playing other peoples music. Pianists mimic when no one will listen to their own material. Beethoven was an improv master.

    This elegant and empathetic nocturne tugs at my heart strings each and every time I hear and play it and more than any other, period, played with the necessary gentleness, poise, balance and touch by a true virtuoso, vivid in my childhood memory as my mother, Madame Maria Bonadio née Butera passed slowly nigh on 40 years ago. These rare treasures of life humble us through unique gateways and insights to the fragility of our souls and the emotional world that surrounds us. This enlightenment means more to me than anyone could possibly imagine so I, and others to follow in eternity, will be indebted to three pianoforte virtuosos for their art and inspiration; Madame Marie Pleye that inspired a 20 year old Chopin, Frédéric of course and Valentina that I love to bits.

      After hearing a dozen of her Interpretations of different pieces I cannot agree more on the following text in her official website:"Washington Post Online wrote: “It’s striking that her playing is relatively straightforward. ‘Straightforward’ is an inadequate term for virtuosity. She does not tart the music up. She does not seek to create a persona, much less impose one on what she is playing. She offers readings that are, when you penetrate through the satin curtains of the soft playing and the thunder of the loud playing, fundamentally honest and direct. You feel you’re getting a strong performer but also a sense of what the piece is like rather than of how Lisitsa plays it. I was impressed, sometimes dazzled and sometimes even taken aback by the ferocity of her fortissimos. And she is also a delicate, sensitive, fluid player who can ripple gently over the keys with the unctuous smoothness of oil.”
