Wow, what a performance! So clean and transparent. Too many pianists, even the great ones, played this piece too loud to get the desired dynamic range, but Seong-Jin went the other way by pushing the limit of quiet end and it was perfect. This is how all nocturnes should have been played IMO.
조성진은 쇼팽 콩쿠르 1위의 편견을 떠나 쇼팽 곡이 유난히 잘 맞아보인다. 랑랑처럼 다소 투박하게 큰 손이 아니라 섬세하고 긴 손가락에서 오는 섬세하고 부드러운 연주가 쇼팽의 곡을 잘 살린다. 나도 여러번 듣고 있는데 긴 곡이 아니니 눈을 뜨고 연주 하는 것도 감상하고 눈을 감고 들어보면 쇼팽 곡의 아름다움이 배가가 된다. 그리 한번 들어보시기를 강력 추천.

I mean no disrespect to any of the other pianists I heard performing this on TH-cam, but none of them sounded quite right to me until this one. This one’s expression is... perfect.
He has the best interpretation of this piece that I’ve heard. Crisp, controlled, emotional, but not overly so. This is how Chopin would have wanted it.
Well put and I agree wholeheartedly. Chopin is one of my favorite composers, but 99% of the performances I hear leave me wanting. The exceptions are worth the wait. THIS was worth the wait.

난 늘 성진초의 음색이 좀 차갑고 지성적이라고 느끼는데... 이곡도 그렇다. 선율은 아름답지만...따뜻한 위로 보단 오히려 개인적 슬픔같은 것들을 객관적으로 보게 하는 느낌(?).... 미소지으며 쳤었던 어릴적 그때보다도 훨씬 더...연주자 스스로도 많은 내적인 투쟁들을 겪어내었기 때문이겠지. 그래서인지 저 비장하기까지 한 의연함이 더욱 반갑고...살갑진 못해도 사실을 말해주는 진실한 친구처럼....차가움 속에서도 매우 특별한(?) 친밀감 같은 것을 느끼게 되는건가....그런 생각을 했다. 모든 곡을 특별하게 만드는 성진초에게 고마움의 장미꽃...🌹🌹

Instagram is such a bad place for finding well played chopin pieces... Because they are so horribly overplayed and everyone thinks they can do a 4 week challenge to learn them.
Instead of being nasty about peoples attempts to learn and play such a complex piece, perhaps just choose to not watch them on instagram? Everyone starts somewhere.
I listened to his perfomance in Seoul, Korea yesterday evening. all of his plays was so brilliant and touching. the encore, Chopin's nocturnes op 9 no 2 was so clear, tender and emotional. what a lovely moment!!!! his perfomance always gives me consolations. thank you, Seong-Jin♥♥♥ I hope your next recital in Korea soon!!!

조성진.. 한 100년은 기다린 느낌이었어😂 그는 늘 탁월하고 혀를 내두르게 하는 연주를 하고, 피아니스트로 살아가도록 운명 지어지고 선택받은 사람같음🤣 그가 어릴 때 부터 얼마나 악착같이 피아노 연구를 했을지 생각하니 울컥했다.💦 얼마나 많은 시련들을 이겨왔을까? 수많은 세월이 흘러도 조성진만한 피아니스트 다시는 안 나올 거 같음.. 입이 마르도록 칭찬받아 마땅한 사람.. 연주 보는 내내 맹렬한 야수 같았고 나의 심장 박동수는 진정이 되지 않았고 그는 너무 아리게 연주하더라. 요즘 웃을 일이 없었는데 조성진 덕분에 간만에 실컷 미소지었네~ 난 그의 공연이 너무 갈급했어😂

조성진.. 한 100년은 기다린 느낌이었어😂 그는 늘 탁월하고 혀를 내두르게 하는 연주를 하고, 피아니스트로 살아가도록 운명 지어지고 선택받은 사람같음🤣 그가 어릴 때 부터 얼마나 악착같이 피아노 연구를 했을지 생각하니 울컥했다.💦 얼마나 많은 시련들을 이겨왔을까? 수많은 세월이 흘러도 조성진만한 피아니스트 다시는 안 나올 거 같음.. 입이 마르도록 칭찬받아 마땅한 사람.. 연주 보는 내내 맹렬한 야수 같았고 나의 심장 박동수는 진정이 되지 않았고 그는 너무 아리게 연주하더라. 요즘 웃을 일이 없었는데 조성진 덕분에 간만에 실컷 미소지었네~ 난 그의 공연이 너무 갈급했어😂

I love this piece of Chopin the most so far. Especially sungjin cho plays. It sounds like marble rolling, water dripping into the pond...just beautiful.
