Dear Ellen, there is an area of study and practice called Trauma Resolution that provides resourced ways of being with difficult emotions and sensations. Your student would likely benefit from some of these modalities. Peter Levine, Bessel Vander Kolk, Irene Lyon and many others have books and even online programs to help those who carry deep trauma. Typical spiritual approaches are much less effective at unwinding trauma than are these modalities. I hope your student can find some relief. ❤❤❤

@@zoe233 What I’ve seen of Scott’s work feels a little rough currently, especially for those carrying a lot of trauma and needing to go very slowly. I do admire his fierce devotion to truth and willingness to put his ideas out in public.

Spiritual approaches are NOT to be confused with healing "modalities." It would be a misunderstanding to believe you can heal yourself on a psycho-physical level with the expectation you will "attain" realization of your true nature. One is a phenomenal experience, and the other is noumenal.

Sobbing is good. Tears wash away so much tension for me and sometimes resolves in understanding and compassion dissolving into deep surrender done through me not by me.

@@stevedawson6979 It is terrible that our little boys are taught to repress emotions to be masculine. Misguided and creates suffering and confusion. What is your experience with sadness that results in crying that is behind your comment?
