i had always thought that Woodlands is such a boring neighbourhood until i watched this video. thanks for enlightening me on the things that i can do and explore in this neighbourhood that i called home for the past 3 years!!!
What an enjoyable video ! I'm sorry you didn't manage to see the War Memorial, it's beautiful inside, very sobering in modern day Singapore. We must be thankful for the One Million Tree Movement as this island would be completely unliveable without the continuing greening. Good to see the trees along heartland roads and streets planted in a more natural and organic style, requiring less manicuring and attention. Loved that you highlighted the local hawkers, of food from the heart and their tenacity in a tough industry. Looking forward to your next video ! Aida.
Thank you, Aida, for being such a wonderful supporter of our channel! We read recently that if every country in the world did the same as Singapore (number of trees per sq ft) we’d reverse global warming and SO much of the climate issues would be solved!
@@WONDERLUSTworld try starting from sembawang and cycle down to woodlands waterfront, then through the old woodlands road to get to kranji (newly opened railway corridor) and down to the kranji memorial
Thank for venturing woodlands. Its a awesome heartland. The marsiling hawker centre you can find it very buys on weekends mornings. You can find alot of good food at at a very low price. Enjoyed your vlog. Cheers !!!
i think something to do with kids is to teach them old hobbies of the past. Have you try bringing them to some canal or longkang (check location in youtube) to catch wild guppies. It will be fun for the kids. Also, something to also try and teach them to catch jumping spiders and see how they fight in the wild. It is a sight to see - again also available in youtube. Kids use to catch them before 70s and then put them in matchbox and fight with friends. Male spider has white eyes when they are between leaves. Really fun to do during nature walk to catch spiders.
Yes, in my growing up years, we make our own kites, use wood pieces to make toy guns to shoot freshly formed morning glory buds or rubber bands, catch guppies from drains, catch black ants and let them fight, of course spiders too!
@@WONDERLUSTworld morning glory is a vine with trumpet shape flowers ranging from dark blue, deep to light purple. The newly formed buds are very hard and we pluck them to use as bullets.
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos, especially of nature in SG. Having grown up there and now living abroad surrounded by nature, I look forward to exploring these parts of SG whenever I’m there visiting family. Thanks for doing the homework for us. 😄
Ah wonderful!! Thank you so much!! If you do make it out, please do share where you’ve been! We love hearing when people have taken on some wonder! Heheh
Welcome to the hood which I grew up and stayed just 1 block from that hawker center. It has a very 80s vibe and still bustling with people till today especially during the weekends.
Nice adventure! Goes to show however small Singapore is there are many places to visit and explore in every estate . Such interestingly outings give more perspective and open dimensions like always a new discovery for everyone. Cool! Nice! Thanks for sharing Woodlands
Hello, thanks for taking the time to get in touch. It's a pretty unique experience to be able to explore over the entire country. Many are far too big to be able to accomplish that without a lot of time and longer trips. Here you can take the day and go to the other side of the country!
@@WONDERLUSTworld very much appreciated! Always enjoyed and looking forward to your vlogs in your family outings which I never got to do and share and I guess many locals don't too. We hope your family a blessed life and with happiness and prosperity always ❤️
That’s a white bellied sea eagle 13:34 Dang! Marsiling Hawker Centre still standing. Anyway if you walked further down Admiralty from that traffic light 17:20 you be hitting industrial area and if you take a bus down all the way to the end, you might see some old bungalows from the time when Commonwealth Army was stationed there and you can find roads such as Canada, King’s and Queen’s, Bermuda, Ottawa, Auckland, Wellington, Montreal Roads. Further up and you’ll end up at Sembawang Park
Ah thanks for the info. We like Sembawang park. It's helpful to know the little connections to all these places, you realise how close everything is too.
We've done sections of that in the past. We're fans of Changi Village, and the food of course, but I will look up more of the wetlands area. We are due a return trip to Coney Island as we went a long time ago now and it was heavy rain!
Collecting seeds may be a good hobby. But some of these beautiful seeds ( that are red and black) could turn out to be highly poisonous if chewed by babies, kids or pets!
Do watch the first five minutes of our latest video on Lazarus island, we just watched it to count the “likes” for you… if you find we have improved, please feel free to “like” the video 😁😂😉

I can imagine it would be very busy at morning time. There was a fire there this weekend - I hope everyone was OK!

Oh yes!! Heheh. We did some longkang fishing before, but not spider catching! That’ll be fun to have a go at!
Wow!! What is a morning glory plant??! 😱

You can try visiting the Sembawang heritage trail where the Sembawang shipyard is.
Great! Thanks for the tip.
Thanks for sharing this adventure! I've been wanting to visit the Kranji War Memorial too. Now I know there are other stuff to see and do while there!
We love just going for a wander about sometimes to see what can be found in areas that are new to us.
Yes, best way to really see a place for sure!
Always uncovers new things if you are looking out for them!
Such hidden gem, love this video. You guys r national youtuber

Hello, no sorry we don’t! It was great and so filling too. I’ll see if we can find out for you ☺️

We sure will 😀 any suggestions for our next one?
haha I remember collecting sago seeds when I was young
Our kids are OBSESSED! Heheheh
Maybe your kids can try playing Congkak, a traditional game where you collect as many red sago seeds as you can!
Oh nice! Is there a certain amount of time in which to complete this?
First! You guys are up early!
Ha scheduled uploads my friend, you were the early one this time.
Have you guys roamed changi / loyang leading to changi village AND lorong harlus near sengkang wetlands towards coney island already ?!
We've done sections of that in the past. We're fans of Changi Village, and the food of course, but I will look up more of the wetlands area. We are due a return trip to Coney Island as we went a long time ago now and it was heavy rain!
Most of the places you have explored in this video is actually Marsiling.
Oh! It’s all part of the Woodlands heritage trail. I wonder if there is a separate Marsiling one 🤔

Yes it is always good to be careful with what you’re collecting. We only collect the saga seeds ☺️
