If u got other assets/investments, then hdb is good. Very low cost of maintenance. If u very keen on property then should aim for two 3 bdr condo or even 1 landed. At retirement can cash out. Either way in singapore hdb, condo or landed are all asset. It is just whether you wanna park your wealth in stock or property or bond. Each of us got own risk tolerance. Nothing wrong with living in landed and having zero stock. Nothing wrong with living in hdb and holding 3mil stock
good discussion. but in general, we have to assume that condo buyers have the means to finance the condo due to the tdsr. And very seldom to see people stretch all the way to buy a condo. And because of the bigger quantum, with the same increment rate, the capital appreciation of a condo will be bigger than a hdb over same period of time. and those condo buyers will still have some extra cash to invest in stocks etc. So if anyone can afford it (comfortably), it is better to buy a condo rather a hdb.
Nice video, very informative and learnt some new things today. I also like JJ's philosophy on first settling your own-stay before even considering an investment property, Looking forward to the next one!
35years @2.5-3.5% interest. How much appreciation before breakeven... For those thinking of passing on private property to kids, the maintenance and upgrading of old amenities (lifts) another issue. At lease for hdb, all handled by them.(HIP).
Agree. Obviously the fellow doesn’t know that “newer” HDB flats are selling for close to a million. That’s not cheap or affordable to the masses. Comparable to some condos in ulu locations and smaller size.
@@awinaung5361 At least he is more down to earth, and realistic, unlike the TH-camrs that are wax lyrical about private property investment and flipping every 3 years 😁.
